I really like their debut album.  After that, not so much.

Plus, they suck live.  But that's a helluva debut.

Have yet to see them live, but they will be in Austin this summer and I plan on going. Hopefully the live suckage is in the past. You would think as long as they have been together they would have their shit together on stage.

  2. Just got a new hummingbird feeder, probably a little more excited about this than I should be. Love watching those little bastards do their inflight slap fight over who gets their spot on the feeder. Never seen one peck the shit out of the other, but I'm watching just in case.

Yeah but she'd probably keep talking for another two weeks before rigor mortis set in. You could hear the muffled sound of her yammering below ground.

I hate it when that happens. So, Things That Annoy You thread?

  4. It was bad enough to have to play Tech for a 3rd time, then to end up  playing  indoors and traveling to an alternate site really is crappy. But, to be fair it was the same for both teams. Hope they pull a miracle comeback.

Let me fuck her money pile, then.  I wouldn't approach that with a contamination suit, or without a set of massively 100% block-out ear plugs.  My GOD that voice.... I would fucking kill myself after sex, listening to that.

On the positive side after the fuck/murder digging a shallow grave for her wouldn't take much effort.

An update on some of the places people have mentioned in the thread...

Prine's BBQ - not worth it anymore

Scott's Drive in - very hit or miss now

Pat's Drive in - Excellent (only reason I didn't mention it was location and op's wife being alone)

Casa Manana -still decent but not as good as it used to be

McBride's Steakhouse - good steaks for WF

    Stanley's - closed down

8th Street Coffeehouse - excellent, also try OddDuck Coffee or Frank n Joes

    Sevi's - still good

Bar L - same as always

Hope this helps anyone that is visiting.

Thanks for recs txhorns, been to some of these and will try others since I am there 3-4 times a year. Not to thread jack, but I usually end up trying places around Midwestern and the campus area and noticed there is still a Pelicans there. Had forgotten all about that chain, used to eat at the one by Ridglea Mall in Ft.Worth back in the 80's. Also played tennis at Hamilton Park, and you being a Surly poster I will assume that one of those places in that neighborhood must be yours.

  7. Anybody else tried the HCF brand of pseudo Girl Scout Cookies? I had the chocolate mint and caramel cocoanut ones so far and they taste pretty much the same as the GS ones, with the HCF brand being $1.40 a package. In true HEB fashion they put the cheap stuff on the bottom shelves so. you have to get down low to reach them(not an easy task for all cookie consumers).

  8. No, my wife's family is from Henrietta and Scotland,  her mom is in a retirement home in WF now. So I am there a few times a year. Wife just got back tonight from visiting her. Man that drive from Driftwood is a beating, 5 1/2 hrs. up Hwy.281.

  9. Parkway Grill on Southwest Pkwy. is a good spot. Sports bar vibe with TVs,s all over the place. Burgers, tex-mex, cfs, all the usual suspects. It can be packed at times and loud but hey, for the area it's pretty solid.

I do it with CFS too.  Occasionally sub hot sauce for ketchup but it lacks that sweetness. Use the roll to mop up the goodness afterward.

Used to work with a guy from Indiana, we'd go to lunch and get a cfs, which he liked, but didn't like gravy. Instead would put rouqefort dressing on it. Tried to break him of this heinous act but no dice, he wanted no part of any type of gravy.  Stopped going to lunch with him on cfs day. The end.

  11. Yeah, Imma talking sausage either with or without jalapenos, I like both. If I have a yearnin'  for something sweet  maybe get a cherry or peach added to the box. However, it seems that all kolache places have damn good fudge and /or brownies so for me that's always something to be on the lookout for. Downside is I gotta do some serious workouts or might as well just pack that shit right on your gut.

You should be hearing the siren call of the Shart Thread any moment now.

I have been a Rodney Crowell fan since the early 80's, seen him live multiple times including a couple with the Cherry Bombs as his band. My favorite might be the singer songwriter show at the old Austin Opera House with him, Roseanne Cash and Guy Clark. Just took turns playing their songs, no backing band needed. Also saw Roseanne in Denver when Vince Gill was still her lead guitar player, when she introduced the band she made mention that he just signed his own record deal and was moving on up. There are a lot of solid musicians that run in those circles and I love listening to a ton of them. Sorry, this got awful wordy but it's a favorite topic of mine. And Rodney Crowell song list is damned impressive.
