  1. yea, I hear you there. I wonder how much this will impact all the short term rental condos in those vacation markets. If it shakes out some weak hands I might be a buyer of real estate prices dip a fair bit.
Mountain real estate is going crazy. I think it will shake out in a year or two, but right now is nuts. Up probably 20% in the past year in my area.

  2. This seems like it’s really gonna jam up locals in favor of tourists and other people that reserve all the holidays and weekends. I guess if you’re a local best to stick to weekdays (Which is the case anyways). Kinda fucks up powder chasing for everyone though.

Yesterday I spent some time time trying to figure out what ikon is doing. I haven’t seen any clear communications from them yet.
You can only reserve if you have a pass. Much more likely to jam up visitors, IMO. Everyone is gonna get screwed, though.
  3. Drive to Telluride we decided to recon the state and national park camping spots. We found our first national forest dispersed camp site next time we come up here...

And telluride is a cool little town, more my speed compared to aspen. I know it’s hella expensive but the folks seem more like an old Austin slow, laid back whatever style.
Telluride is way better than Aspen. Aspen and Vail suck. Telluride, Crested Butte, Ouray and Silverton are awesome. Love me some Durango too.

Had a fantastic meal at the New Sheridan Chop House this time last year.

Thanks, I should add those most in the group are first time skiers so there should at least be something we can try right?

Read what I posted above.  Not guaranteed you can get on the mountain.  You probably can during the week, but I wouldn't count on weekends.  I would probably call the resort and ask them how it's going to work.  They might have more info.

  5. I've never skied before but am going to Beaver Creek around Dec 8, is that too early?  What will the snow be like?
Look at the Epic restrictions before you book anything.

Snow will likely be iffy and unlikely that the whole resort will be open that early.

  6. So we can add SFTB to our domestic Blantons offerings now. $150 msrp
    coming this fall.
One more bottle I'll never see on shelves. It's a great bourbon. Definitely the best Blantons, IMO.
  7. I know nothing about run flats. The Conti ExtremeContact Sport (formerly DW) and ExtremeContact DWS06 are consistently highly rated and priced lower than Michelins.

I'll also consider Michelin Pilot Super Sports or Pilot Sport A/S 3+.
I have the AS3+ on my car. They are good tires. I can't manage to get more than 15k out of a set, but that's more a function of my car, i think. Heavy AWD cars with a lot of hp just go through tires fast.

Yeah, I don't get it either. The indirect effect is that dump date collectors contribute to the scarcity of Blanton's. Buying a bottle of Blanton's dumped on your son's birthday to share with him on his 21st Birthday is the most Hallmark Channel - bourbon BS I've ever heard of. Chances are he's going to be out getting drunk with his friends and he'll want very little to do with you. The notable exception being, please send more money.

Not only that, but what 21 year old wants to drink bourbon neat or on rocks?  You gonna let him mix Blanton's with coke?

I haven't renewed my EPIC pass yet. I know I'll get about $300 off the price, but not gonna renew if I can't ski.

If you get a pass, you can book 7 days when the portal opens Nov 6.  But only 7 until you use them, then you can re-book.  Kinda like Disney FastPasses, but shittier.

    FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK !!!!

Look on the bright side, you can probably come stay in your favorite fake Bavarian village for cheap this winter, but you might not be able to ski.

I'm still waiting to see what IKON does before I renew my pass.  I think this reservation thing is going to be a clusterfuck.

  11. I hope none of you are planning big ski trips this year.  Not sure how this whole thing is going to work, but EPIC just announced their plans for the season and it's all going to be done by reservation.  Unless they hold back spots for visitors (don't know if they are or not), the pass holders will eat up the entire allotment in short order for prime days (weekends, holidays, etc).

It's going to be a mess.  IKON hasn't announced yet but I'm guessing they do something similar.

  12. Jax hops in the old F350 and he knows we are going somewhere fun, but when he dreams about that place we might go in the old F350 I’m certain it’s to the Colorado River country. He knew exactly where we were after 2 days of driving.

He sees the mountains, scratches at the window and requires we roll down the window so he can have ALL the smells.

He’s a little annoyed we didn’t get in the streams today. Tomorrow bubba, tomorrow.

Big dog in a small dog’s body.
Bruce and Pepper do the same thing. When we come down into Winter Park off the pass, i put down the windows down and their whole demeanor changes. Ears go back, noses go up and they know they are in their happy place.

  13. I’m watching a Friends episode from 1997, and one of Chandler’s co-workers attempts to bribe him some “8 Year Old Small Batch Basil Hayden’s”. Was this a good bourbon back then?
That was too shelf at a lot of bars back then.

  14. I'm saying based on a guy who stole an education from the US Military.  Partnerships in general are usually screwed up in one of a couple ways  1) Greed - the company does well and the buyouts and compensation were not CLEARLY spelled out in the founding documents. 2) The flip side of the same coin. The company doesn't do well and one partner is basically left holding the bag, and the costs of not being successful were not clearly defined in founding papers. 3) The usual way they go bad is one person ends up doing a lot more work than the other partner for similar compensation. Again usually due to not clearly specified responsibilities and remedies in the founding papers.
I would be EXTREMELY hesitant to give any ownership position to a person owing the government a large debt.  Especially if you ever plan to sell the business.
A friend of ours got involved with an old friend who had made a fortune on wall street and wanted to flip houses.  The wall street partner bought the house and my friend renovated it on her dime and they were going to spit the profits.  Well when it came time to sell, she couldn't because the wall street person had some IRS issues that were unbeknownst to my friend.  The rich wall street partner wasn't too worried and said it would get cleaned up shortly.  Well my friend who had put her money into the house for the renovation along with her time was none too pleased. The house did sell, but that was the end of the business relationship and sort of the friendship as the wall street partner simply didn't take seriously the concerns of the other partner (not as rich) who had most of her savings invested in the remodel.
Had the rich friend not taken care of the tax issue, or been UNABLE to, my friend would have been screwed.  That Government money is gonna get paid back somehow, and you do NOT was to be associated with that debt in any way, shape or form.  I might make the options for ownership conditional upon having the debt cleared up.  I would at the minimum have them make full disclosure and include the documentation of the disclosure in the founding paperwork.  With the penalty for misrepresentation of key facts surrounding the debt, especially any omission, ground for reversion of all ownership shares to you.If they balk at this then you saved yourself a lot of time and money.
I still go back to my initial thought that ultimately this guy is gonna screw you.  I get a Medical career paid for by the military and then I fail to fulfill the ONLY obligation I had to receive the education for my medical career?  That's basically fraud.  I would probably not go into partnership with a guy whose career was created by a fraud.  but that's just me.
I'm guessing OP has not lived through a bad partnership before. Some learn from the mistakes of others. And some have to experience it themselves.
  15. SO what are the steps in buying a car from a private seller?  I've i.d. one close to my office.  Good deal.  But want to make sure I don't fuck up the transaction.  Pink slip.  What else?
Bill of sale. Title. Keys. In exchange for those things, you give them money.

    Not much to it.
  16. I wouldn't touch this guy with a 10 foot pole.  He made an agreement with the federal government that they would educate him for free in exchange for military service.  He refused the military service and is now refusing to repay the government for the services rendered (his education).  He knew the terms very well on the front end.  This was not a bait and switch.

Wait until he gets in a tough spot with you and he'll likely see your partnership agreement as optional as well.

This is not a plus.  I've seen them carry away backpacks while people are swimming.

Yeah, someone has to stay at or near the chairs at all times.  I think it's cool as hell, though.

  18. I've stayed at Parador which is a Tulemar competitor. Beach is 10 min walk. Down and up a decent hill. More of a cove. Calm water.

Also at buena vista villas which is a Tulemar owned property. It's on the main public beach. Not a cove. 20 foot waves easy. Not great for non swimmers imo. Bonus is your room is a 20 second walk to the beach. Great service and the food is outstanding
Yeah, Tulemar is a hike to the beach, too. Thankfully they have a shuttle to bring you up and down. That's a slog in the heat.

Tulemars beach is just fantastic. Nice quiet cove keeps the waves down and it's private, so it's never crowded. And lots of monkeys down there.
  19. Hoping to book a trip to CR in March, depending on Covid.  Considering Los Suenos or Tulemar, which would be best?  Fishing is a must and good beach (teenage kids).  Also hoping for good restaurants and tours, hiking etc.
Tulemars Beach is pretty tough to beat. And the marina is 5 min away.
