Is the death penalty flawed in its current execution? Yes.

Are there times when maybe an innocent person was executed? Probably.

Is the death penalty way too expensive when we can just lock them up and throw away the key until they die off of old age? Sure.

Should the death penalty be abolished? No.

Despite all the problems, costs, etc, there are times when we just need to kill the fucker.

    Like this guy:

(Don't read it if you can't handle it. Deals with the death of a special needs child.)

That guy does not need to breathe air anymore. He confessed. He did it. Take him out back and put a bullet in his brain. Cheap. Easy. I'd be hard pressed not to just throw him in a pen with a bunch of hungry crocs or gators and let them eat him alive. That kind of piece of shit doesn't need to be sitting in a jail cell for 60 years.

Blaine Milam here in Texas. The only time i couldn’t finish the facts of a case. What he and his girlfriend did to their two year old is the worst I’ve seen or heard. They can both die imo.

  2. Saw Charles Wesley Gordon, Isbell, and Turnpike last night. Was unbelievable. CWG is insanely good and has such a bright future. Isbell was awesome. Had a new guitar player, while his other is on paternity leave, that absolutely shredded. Turnpike was better than when i saw them in Little Rock last year. Two years Sober Evan was on point. Voice sounded great and they were happy to be home. I wish i had tickets to his solo shows in Tulsa next week.

  3. Random question: do you use the same opening word?

i tend to use a word with a and e for my two vowels and a combination of s,t,r,n,d, and l. Works pretty well. I’m sure there’s a mathematical reason to use one word every time, but I like sticking within my guidelines above

  4. My wife is what I would call cautious about spending money. She, however, has zero sense about time verse value. Example 1: there’s a 7/11 about a block from the house, so she will drive to Costco which is about 20 minutes away to get gas because it’s “cheaper”. Well, the gas she burns to go the 15 miles basically makes the prices comparable and she would save 40 minutes of her day.

Example two, we have a Walgreens and a Braums neighborhood market within a half mile. For simple stuff we know Walgreens or Braums will have, she will drive to the Crest by her church which is about 30 minutes away.

I get so damn frustrated with that.

  5. Guy I went to law school with was a high school principal that wanted to practice law. We graduated and passed the bar. He opened his own shop in Norman. Did a lot of family law. On the day he got full custody for his client, the ex husband came and shot my friend, the client, and the kid (IIRC) then drove out in the sticks and killed himself. In his prior life my friend was on one of the Sports Gone Wild type shows. He was a jockey and got bucked off and his boot got stuck, so he was dragged to the finish line.

I was good friends with Bart Whitaker in high school. White privilege got him off death row.

Do you or any of your friends still write to him? His case is what launched my love of true crime. Most murders are drug related, marital issues, and gang violence. A lot is over money, as well, but Bart just seems like a total sociopath. I know he stood to inherit a lot of money, but I honestly think his lies about graduating from college were about to catch up to him and killing his family was easier than owning up to his own fuck up.

Next year we need some kinda point tracking system whereby we can objectively prove whose family can just waste the most time.  My in-laws, god love them, can literally.  And I mean that in the literal sense of the word, spend 2 hours between breakfast and lunch and 6 hours between lunch and dinner talking about they never get to do anything together.  They just sit and talk about how they never get together and do anything.  It's fucking amazing.  20 years in and I've never seen anything like it.  We spent 7.5 days together last month listening to them talk about how they never have time to get together to do anything.  Same as the previous 19 years.  It's absolutely astonishing.  Anywho...Happy New Year Surly Fuckers!

This hits home except that my MIL talks about the vacations she’s going to take like she’s capable. “I want to do a river cruise in Germany.” Other than, you can’t fit in a seat in airplane, walk or stand long enough to get on the ship, walk up stairs, walk around the villages, and the cost that you won’t ever spend your money for, yes, this would be great. This is the lady that once vetoed a trip to Telluride because “the hotel rooms will just reek of marijuana” and made us go to bumfuck Arkansas where she sat in the house and pouted because we wanted to go hike/fish/play golf and she couldn’t physically do those things.

Ok but how was your MIL’s pie?

Lmao. She didn’t bring one unfortunately. We told her to not bring anything down because it’s just the wife, myself, and her. She came with two dips, 3 types of cookies, a cheese ball, puppy chow, Chex mix, and summer sausage. We could have fed Patton’s army with the amount of shit she brought

Reverse seared prime filets on the Primo, asparagus with crabmeat imperial, and my mom’s “Christmas rice” (kind of a take on dirty rice with wild rice and mushrooms):

Any chance you could spare the rice recipe? Looks great!

    No, no, no.

“Welp spose” merely initiates the process to actually leave the premises. The host will consider it their obligation to not be impolite and push you out, and the leaver will consider it their obligation to not to appear too eager to leave.

Pre-Facebook, my dad’s go to “get these people out of my house” move was talking about bringing out the vacation photos. That shit used to be punishment. Now it’s how a large percentage of females their self worth.

  11. The MIL is migrating south to our house on Christmas Day. She asked us to send her a list of “sentimental gifts” she could get us. Complete bullshit. Just an attempt to not have to buy gifts for the holidays. Totally fine with that notion, just call it what it is. We got her “list” and it was the most over the top “sentimental” crap ever. “When you have time, and I know you are busy, I would like for you to clean out my closet”. “Sharing a meal and togetherness”.
