  1. The Cotton Bowl was also expanded to 68-70k seats back in the late 40's to accommodate demand for SMU football. SMU played in the Cotton Bowl until the late 70's but once the Cowboys came to Dallas, interest in SMU football decreased rapidly. Now SMU plays in a 32k seat stadium that is usually 1/3 full and the Cotton Bowl is used for the Texas/OU game, a third tier bowl game and a couple of other college games every year.
  2. And a much worse football team. This ain’t Whiz Quiz.
  3. TCU liked him too. No offer yet but he was someone they were looking at after he showed out at a TCU camp.
  4. This kid is going to wind up marrying a Showgirl. By the way, he's also a 3 time 6A state wrestling champ. Won state as a freshman, as soph (190 lbs class) and junior (220 lbs class).
  5. New commit for TCU. Big hitting 6'2" 220 lbs. LB from Oklahoma. Offers from Tech, K State, Arkansas, CU, Nebraska and Mizzou. https://www.hudl.com/profile/6520121/Zach-Marcheselli https://247sports.com/Player/Zach-Marcheselli-46053018
  6. TCU was late to offer him because he's only played QB and they wanted to see him catching the ball. I guess they finally saw him in 7v7 or something and made the offer. We're about a month behind UT and tOSU though. Nebraska has offered him a chance to play QB so that may give them an advantage although I haven't seen anything that would indicate he's favoring anyone at this point.
  7. SMU is quietly putting together a pretty decent class. Ranked 44th overall and 1st in the AAC. They are well above several Big 12 schools like WVU and Tech and even ahead of Chad Morris's class at Arkansas. I think Sonny is going to turn out to be a good hire out there. Meanwhile, beating Texas last year might be the worst thing to happen to Tech in a long time. Kliff's uncertain status is killing Tech recruiting. After a terrible class last year they only have 2 commits.
  8. TCU gets a RB commit. Daimarqua Foster from WF Hirschi Ran for over 3,200 yds and 40 TDs last SEASON https://247sports.com/Player/Daimarqua-Foster-46050025
  9. Losing Kenrich Williams and Vlad will definitely hurt. Those were our two leading scorers. Hamdy was a nice guy to rotate in at the 4/5 and will be missed as well. Noi will probably take most of Williams minutes and he's probably a better athlete than Williams but he's got a long way to go in pure basketball sense and instincts before he can be considered equal to Williams. Meanwhile, there really isn't anyone on the roster who can really replace Vlad offensively. There's a JUCO center who should help with defense and rebounding but Vlad had a polished offensive game in the post and I don't see the new guy giving us that. There's a kid from NZ that sat last year and may eventually develop into a really good offensive player but I don't see him filling Vlad's shoes this season. Although there are lots of questions in the front court but the back court should be solid if we ever get an entire season out of Jaylen Fisher. A three guard rotation of Fisher, Alex Robinson and Bane is pretty solid and you can probably pencil Nembhard into the 4th spot there. My guess is we finish around .500. I expect big things from Fisher this season. He should be our MVP and lead the team in scoring.
  10. Marketing and Licensing. The funny thing is that he and his husband were recently featured in video that was part of a series about how great Fort Worth is and how much they like it here. Some chamber of commerce type thing I think. Oh well, he's welcome to come back and visit I guess.
  11. Yes. They're a great couple and I mean that sincerely. Two really nice guys. Drew will be missed at TCU. He was very well liked.
  12. Kind of ironic that we got Duggan from Iowa who was their #1 QB target and then they get Clark from Texas who was the first '19 QB TCU offered. In fact, we may not have even taken Duggan if Clark had jumped on our offer early.
  13. Those numbers are from here: http://etsn.fm/jacksonvilles-deshawn-mccuin-offered-by-louisiana-monroe/ He ran even better at the TCU camp. He's 5'11 to 6' ish and goes about 180 so it's not like he's a little skinny track guy either. Probably plays safety or corner at TCU. His only other FBS offer is ULM but I bet he blows up during the season and gets more. He's one of those guys who plays QB at a small school because he's the best athlete on the team. GP loves to recruit those guys.
  14. This is insane overkill. This is the kid that transferred from Azle to Weatherford after his freshman season (started on varsity as a frosh at Azle) and the UIL DQ'd him made him play on Weatherford's JV as a soph. I understand that he doesn't have any good game film because he was on JV but he's going to have a great chance to prove himself during his junior year playing in a really tough district. He will play Abilene, San Angelo Central, Euless Trinity, LD Bell and Richland in district. What he shows in those games should be a lot more important than anything he can show schools in these camps. The kid must have some ultra helicopter parents.
  15. Kirk Saarloos is staying at TCU too. He's not going to Rice. Don't know if that's his choice or theirs.
  16. 2nd year in a row for TCU to have a finalist. I think we are the only school to have finalists in both '17 and '18 unless Tua made it last year for 'Bama.
  17. Barton Simmons says Duggan was the most athletic QB there. Duggan's official testing results at the Ohio Elite 11 were 4.58/40, 33.0 in. Vert./, 4.10 pro agility and 42.0 ft. pwr. ball toss. He also ran a 21.65 200M in the Iowa state meet.
  18. My apologies. Your comment about having a chance to win a national championship at MSU rubbed me the wrong way because he came damn close to doing that at TCU more than once. Could have been last year with a healthy Luken Baker.
  19. 20. JC is pretty fair for a recruiting guy. I think you're thinking of Jeremiah Glenn who used to be a 247 TCU guy. Glenn could be overly optimistic at times but not at the level of Hamm.
  21. Who is this "they" you speak of? Are they aware that Rice only has 4,000 undergrads, they can barely compete in a watered down CUSA and that no one outside of West U actually cares about their sports teams?
  22. The defense is going to be very good and I think the offense will probably round into shape by mid-season. Vegas says the O/U is 7.5 and I'd go with the over.
