  1. TCU has been wearing black jerseys and/or pants since the late 90's. We were one of the first programs to adopt black as an alternate color and we've done it for so long that it basically is our traditional uni. 1998 Sun Bowl win over Carson Palmer and USC Check out LT in black jersey and purple pants in 1999 And LT sporting the purple jersey/black pants in 1999 or 2000
  2. It's a tribute to the LT era jerseys and represents the spikes on the horned toad's head.
  3. I love 'em. I hope we never switch again.
  4. TCU just picked up a commit from Dylan Jordan, LB from Pittsburg, KS. Picked the frogs over Nebraska, Utah, Auburn and K State. He's a 4 star on 247 (not composite) and in their top 200 players overall. Ran an 11.05 100M last year at 6'3" 215 lbs. https://247sports.com/Player/Dylan-Jordan-46077088/
  5. I actually have a Mackovic story. I was at Scholz Biergarten in Austin late one afternoon with some buddies who went to UT and Mackovic came in with his family. A wife and a couple of daughters I believe. We were sitting inside and us and the Mackovics were the only people there. The TV was on something that we weren't even watching and Mackovic came over and asked us if we minded if they asked to staff to change the channel to some show they wanted to watch. I thought that was very courteous of him to ask that of a bunch of college kids since I'm sure the bartender would've done it for the head football coach without asking us. Anyway, I felt bad for the guy when UT fired him and rooted for him when he went to Zona.
  6. No one runs the pure Air Raid of Texas Tech circa 2000-2010. I think you will see OU run an "Air Raid" offense more like TCU of 2017 with a 45/55 pass/run ratio. It took a year to figure out that Kenny Hill couldn't run the offense like Boykin could and Cumbie made the adjustment to a more run heavy offense to take the pressure of the QB. I suspect it won't take Lincoln that long to figure out Hurts can't run the offense Mayfield/Murray style and he will adjust accordingly.
  7. Agreed. I think they would've been better off sticking with Kendall who has been in their system for 3 years going on 4. I think this is going to bite Lincoln on the ass.
  8. At worst, he's an improvement over Muehlstein as the #3 or 4 QB. He can also be a good change of pace QB if Collins returns as the starter. They can run a variant of the Wildcat with a legitimate passing threat instead of a RB. The bottom line is we needed another QB and this was the best guy that was available after it became clear Hurts wasn't interested. Collins is still in a boot and will miss spring practices, Rogers is a big question mark with his injury and Duggan is a true freshmen. Rogers is progressing but you need a back up plan if he can't go this fall and that back up plan has to be better than Collins and Duggan.
  9. Don't diss a Cheez-It's Bowl Championship. Anyway, I prefer to look on the bright side. Our defense played lights out and we ran for 262 yds without a functional quarterback against the #16 defense in the nation.
  10. 2nd Team All Big 12 OT coming back.
  11. Who would've been drafted and still in the league if he wasn't a dipshit. I actually think turning Kenny Hill into a functional QB in '17 after his '16 debacle was Cumbie's greatest achievement. Hill improved significantly in every statistic after Cumbie took over play calling. 61 to 67% completion rate, 7.3 to 7.9 yds per attempt, 13 ints to 8, 17 TD's to 23, and 31 sacks to 18.
  12. Yeah, that call was bullshit and the refes sucked but we still had 20 turnovers. It's hard to win a game with 20 turnovers. Robinson played tight and was trying to do too much and the freshmen were having trouble adjusting to KU's quickness and length. That was a little different than the competition they've seen in non-conference. You have to make better passes than that in big time college basketball. It was a good learning experience for them though. The bright side is that we only played 7 guys and 3 were freshmen. Those freshmen all played 22-27 minutes and two scored in double figures against KU on the road. Once Jaylen Fisher gets back, I think Robinson will settle down some and those 3 freshmen, especially Samuel, are going to get better as the season goes on.
  13. Jaylen Fisher is doubtful for the game tonight. Not sure if he even made the trip but I guess we'll see. He's had swelling in his knee since the Hawaii trip and didn't play against Baylor. It's a huge loss if he can't play. Poor kid just can't seem to get a break.
  14. Lucas Niang, 2nd team all Big 12 OT asked for an eval and got a return to school grade. He's huge but he's a true junior and word is he's probably staying but it's not 100% certain.
  15. I think TCU will pursue him pretty heavily. Our selling points would be that he fits the system we used with Boykin and Kenny Hill (Hill's 2nd season after Meacham left and Cumbie took over play calling), almost all of the starters returning on the O-line, Jalen Reagor, two really good running backs, and, last but not least, a competent defense unlike our friends north of the Red River.
  16. Good news for Frog fans. JD is not interested in the UCLA job.
  17. 10.10.11 Huge day in the history of TCU (sorry a day late with the tweet)
  18. TCU came into the Big 12 and won the conference 3 years in with guys we recruited as a MWC team. And, I really think we could've won the whole thing that season if we had gotten in over tOSU. I also think our Rose Bowl team would've had a very good chance at winning a playoff back in 2010-11. So, I'm pretty sympathetic to UCF and the G-5 conferences.
  19. Any chance they bump this until the evening to avoid the thunderstorms that are expected in the afternoon?
  20. Our best hope is for GP to throw some wrinkles into the defense that confuse the hell out of their young QB and lead to some turnovers. We also need for Darius Anderson to have a good day running the ball so that we can play keep away. Oregon State had a lot of success running the ball against the Buckeyes so hopefully we can too.
  21. TCU got commits over the weekend from P.J. Fuller and Diante Smith. Fuller is the #49 ranked player in the nation and Smith is #105. We're also still in the running for Jalen Lecque, the #20 player overall. If you had told me a few years ago that TCU would be in the running for a top 10 class nationally, I'd have told you to lay off the peyote. https://247sports.com/college/tcu/Season/2019-Basketball/Commits/
  22. TCU tweeted an interesting montage highlighting our La recruiting success the past few years. By the way, the Stephens kid who makes a catch at the end is the son of former Pats RB and rookie of the year John Stephens and the half-brother of tennis star Sloane Stephens. They expect great things out of him at WR.
  23. Frogs get commits from Darwin Barlow and Tamauzia Brown. 3 Star RB and 4 Star Ath from Newton. Brown will play WR at TCU. We should be done at WR and RB for the year.
