I don't pretend to understand the internal workings of Russia. Putin's regime is already plenty cruel, but voices in the know are saying the mistreatment of the alleged concert hall terrorists points to the Kremlin getting even worse.

“We are seeing the possible beginning of the new Great Terror,” the group said, referring to the purges by Soviet dictator Josef Stalin of the 1930s. “There must be no illusions — the developments follow a very bad scenario and the slide is rapidly accelerating.”

It’s truly a dystopian society.  Post fall of the wall and pre-Putin, they had a chance.  Now I fear only a revolution will flip the script.

Fifth floor of the Supreme Court Building... didn't believe it...  but there it is in Wikipedia

    cGc.jpg

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Supreme_Court_Building

    The Supreme Court Building includes:

    • The basement, which houses maintenance facilities, garage, and the on-site mailroom
    • The first floor, which includes the public information office, the clerk's office, the publications unit, exhibit halls, the cafeteria, the gift shop, and administrative offices
    • The second floor, which includes the Great Hall, the courtroom, the conference room, and all of the justices' chambers except Justice Sotomayor.
    • The third floor includes the office of Justice Sotomayor, the office of the Reporter of Decisions, the legal office, the offices of the law clerk, and the justices' dining room and reference library
    • The fourth floor includes the U.S. Supreme Court Library
    • The fifth floor includes the U.S. Supreme Court gym, which includes a basketball court named the "Highest Court in the Land".[23]

When i was at Texas in late 80's , we found a bball court in an old building on campus.  This building was an academic building, not one of the 6-pack or the Union, but it had to be of that era/age.  It was pretty cool, we had  a Tuesday night game going for a few months.  Had to be on the 3rd floor or so of a 4 story building, and the ceilings seem to stretch another floor high.  It was like finding an Easter Egg, that basketball court in the middle of campus in an old building.

What the fuck is a "shot bar"? Don't all bars serve shots?

Only one I remember was the Schnapps bar on 6th St in the late 80's.  Can't recall the name exactly, maybe Touchees'?  Same side of the street as Maggie Maes, but down a block or so, across from Wileys & 606 iirc, that general area.

Wasn't it that kid from UNC? Tez Walker? Or maybe it was because of his multiple transfers? I don't remember. I just remember he was ineligible for some reason.

Im not 100% but i think he was on his 3rd transfer, not a grad, but the 2nd time he didn't enroll, then went to UNC due to a medical deal with his family, NCAA finally acquiesced

  5. Maybe Im over-simplfying it, but the enormous amount of money in 4%-5% CD's , Money Market Accounts, CMA's etc.. heck I bought a CD for the first time in my life in 2023 and rolled to another 12 mosn in '24.  Can't stay there forever.  It will need to find a home (no pun intended) as rates come down.  That alone could be the liquidity needed to buy more stocks as I see it.  When and if mortgage rates ease even a point, we could see a home buying push, then add all the potential equity taking, downsizing,  that will put a ton of liquidity in to the market.

  6. No more 6% commish.  Going to be a lot of realtors hitting the road.  How is the buyer's agent going to be paid?  Are they saying a listing will now have a 3% commission to the seller's agent? (which will not be published anymore).

Say the house is $500K.  When the buyer presents offer, will it say $500K (for example) , with a 2% buyer's agent commission? So the selling agent makes 3% ($15K ) and buyer's agent $10K... the seller walks away with the difference?  I suppose the negotiation will now have 3 parts minimum:

    1. what the seller's agent commission will be... i could see some sellers being emboldened now and telling their agent to lower their take

    2. what the transaction price will be

    3. what the buyer's agent will make

All of that likely happens anyway, but now it will be much more up in the air.  I see in the ruling, where everything must be in writing aka a listing and showing agreement.  Seems like not much will change in the end, other than there will be a ton more horse trading during the presentation of the offer.

Anywhere for highlights of the game?

If you have twitter, the Texas Baseball account typically has highlights damn near in real time. Plenty there from last night. Here’s the 2nd slam.

I did not stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night, nor do I work with that chick from "Suits" who's going to be queen when Charles kicks it...

You were doing so well and I agree with all of it, until this part....her husband is a long way down the line and the part about bailing on the Royal Family Inc.  Harvey, Mike and Louis have as good of odds  at King as she does Queen.

ok, so how is that unfair to the dotard’s defense?

They (Trump's team) knows it's not unfair to his defense.  This is all a ruse to cast credibility issues on the DA's office as noted upthread a few posts.  It's a smokescreen, a carnival barker, your basic diversion technique to stall and distract and make FW and her office look as bad as possible.  The longer it goes on, the more chance she is removed from the case, the more damage is done to her office, makes the Dems look like they are conspiring, all the while feeding red meat to Trump's deplorables.

    Pretty swanky place.

Delta Reserve gets you in as long as you are on a same day Delta marked flight. How you paid for the flight doesn’t seem to matter.

Good to know.  Wont affect me unitl '25, but Ill be trekking over to this lounge almost weekly, unless I hit the minimum spend on Delta for Sky club access.  Ill still get a dozen entries with the Plat Amex, but Ill eat those up quickly.

That’s astonishing. Zona wasn’t exactly a powerhouse but they were a solid ass program since 2000 or so. Stanford is a huge WTF there. Could be they are taking the David Pierce rout of “who gives a fuck before conference play…” but shit, being outscored like that is fucking insane. Then again, our ‘21 team looked like ass through the first 6 games and we were a cunt hair away from playing for it all. Who knows with this beautiful, crazy ass game

Was it Ole Miss or am i mis-remembering, had to win SEC tournament to get in , won it and then won? the CWS.

Edit: haha , just looked it up, beat the land thieves for the natty as the last team to make field, won 10 of 11 in post season to claim their first and only title; got to love college baseball
