  1. I lived in VA Beach for a little bit and worked out at the outer banks for a summer.  Great area.  Outer banks is cool.  A couple of things to do.

Kill Devil Hills.  Dunes are huge, it is where the Wright Brothers flew.  May be a museum, its been a few years.

Beaches at OB are nice, the waves are tough.  If you can do some offshore fishing this is the place.  The jet stream comes in closer and the fishing is pretty good.

If you can make it to VA Beach, or Norfolk there is the home of the Atlantic fleet there, a huge naval base, also Oceana Naval Air station.  There is a ton of US military things in the area if you like that stuff.  Beaches and the boardwalk at VA Beach is nice.  Tourist type shopping on Atlantic Ave is plentiful.  And the seafood is fantastic in the area.

Williamsburg is ok, it will be fucking hot so take mosquito spray and plenty of water.  Plenty of touristy stuff to do in the area (Busch Gardens).

Monticello is very nice, and just down the hill is UVA.  You will spend half a day at TJ's home.

DC, do the typical stuff and get a metro card.  If you call your congressman ahead of time they will do a private tour of the Capitol Building.  At least they used to.  Might want to check into that cause the sign up tours are filled with sweaty people.

    Richmond - skip it.

Other than that there is plenty to do, VA Coast has a lot of great parks, beaches etc.  As someone said earlier, stay off 95, the traffic is tough.  Enjoy.

Fucking Dillo was going Rocko on me one day.  I was having brunch at a beachside bistro...sipping a mimosa while watching Dolphin playing in the surf. I look at my phone at a thread from the night before, and Dillo had written to me "you don't live where I live", in the context of talking down to me.

Motherfucker, you live in a tract house in College Station.

Lulz, I spend time in College Station for work.  I wonder if I have crossed paths with Dillo, or driven past his house.  Guy was a little arrogant.  Probably a good thing he checked out.  Maybe I should go out and park in front of some random houses and see if I get a reaction.

Rocko I kind of miss, dude was a riot and constantly walked into being owned.

That's a tough one.  I was the same.

I'm the same with sugar.  I have put on 10 lbs.  Thought I would have dropped weight, but the sugar is kicking my ass.

  4. It is just that there is no evidence.  And why is nobody,(security, nurse, home owner) corroborating her story?  For all we know she could of trashed the house herself and taken photos to set JD up?  I know he did the weird painting but that does not indicate an incredibly violent fight.  Both these people are really fucked up.

Have I talked about tidiness with you guys? I'm actually a bit curious if others have had the same experience in sobriety - I am not a neat and organized person. Never have been, clutter is invisible to me. I'm looking at my desk right now, and if I actively look at it, I notice that there's keys, two pocketknives, a sharpie, two stacks of post its, two guitar capos, a newspaper stuck between my computers, two pieces of mail, 3 guitar picks, a little fidgety toy type thing, and a guitar tuner on my desk. And a pen. That's not counting the junk on the surfaces behind me. I'm noticing this right now and pausing to tidy up, because I just don't even see this stuff, but I have come to realize in my sobriety how tightly coupled my surroundings are with my frame of mind. If I'm sitting in a pile of clutter, I feel it in my brain without even recognizing that's what I'm feeling. I could have everything sorted away and nothing to worry about, and if I was sitting in a room filled with garbage I would have a strong sense of impending doom.

Routine is also important to me. It was important to me when I was drinking. Early sobriety I had a strictly observed routine with chamomile tea and winding down for bed. Now with the kid, my routine is much more chore related. The thing I do last before I head upstairs to play guitar or video games or watch a bit of TV or whatever it is is put everything in the kitchen away (which means nothing on the counters at all save for the toaster, coffeemaker, and kitchenaid), set up my coffee for the morning, and then clean all the surfaces. Thoroughly - i use a spray bottle and a bamboo cloth, and then I wipe it down with whichever of the kitchen towels I'm going to replace that evening. I rub my hand over the counter and make sure there's no hidden grit. It's clean clean clean. I step back and look at the kitchen, everything is put away everything is clean, and it scratches an itch in the back of my head that everything is OK and I can turn off for the night.

Anyways I'm rambling - I've been thinking about (beyond staying on top of keeping the kitchen clean) the purpose that that whole exercise serves, and realizing that it's important for me.  Because it is going through the scene of all the changes that happened in the day, putting everything away in its proper place, and setting it back up again for the next day. It's a whole zen peaceful making thing. Anyone reading along in early sobriety when it's especially important to keep busy, I highly recommend doing heavy duty spring cleaning and a pass of making your space nice, and then incorporating regular maintenance of your space into your routine. It absolutely makes a difference in how you feel.

Yes, I am finding jobs around the home to do and our house is usually very clean and organized but I find ways to make it cleaner and more organized.  I have re organized the laundry room, my closet, my office etc.  I have told the wife I am replacing some chairs in the living room and redecorating a portion of it as well.  WTF is wrong with me?

  6. I am not saying she is lying.  But with the countless face hits, wall slams, floor slams, and over all beating she has allegedly taken from JD she would have been hospitalized at least once.  At a minimum there would be marks and scars all over her.  Some bit of evidence on her body somewhere.  Yet ll we have is a small bruise on her arm.  I mean her version of the fight in Australia sounds insane and all the broken glass and not one injury.

  7. I am still alcohol free going on 14 weeks now.  I feel like I am in a good place currently but I am very aware those demons are out there and will come at me when they think they can get me back.  Still fighting the good fight.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

she's telling a story about him hitting her for the first time and crying but no tears.  She can't act.  lol

JFC I am about 15 minutes behind, she is telling it now.  Holy shit she is bad.  Not convincing at all.

The I've seen the health class videos comment was classic.
