i watched that game from a hospital room while my wife was in labor with my first born, so it’s extra special. he was born the next day so the front page of the chronicle from his bday is jose walking off chapman for the pennant.
i have no recollection of the remainder of that baseball season.-

Dang, Pat. Popped into GHB on the way home from the gym this morning to grab a coffee and some to-go beers. Saw that the city made y'all block off the front parking spots. Any plans on what y'all are gonna do with that space now? Expanded front deck? Dedicated food truck area?
goddamned winery’s renovations triggered all kinds of inspections and one of those inspectors flagged our front spots as being too short and forced the new curb to be installed.
we’ll figure out something to do with space but not sure what. probably just enclose it with some perimeter of planters or something, level it, and put down turf for cornhole or other lawn games and some seating.-

Opens next week. Looks like they did a soft opening on Thursday night:
a friend of mine went thursday night for cocktails and friday night for dinner. had pretty high praise for all aspects of food and service.-

I’m on vacation, gimme a break, I’ll be back to quadrupel hazy triple hop bourbon-barrel red porter nitros soon enough, imo
if only seattle had a halfway decent craft beer scene.-

After 10 years, RIP Houston Cider Co
i was there on the first day Town & City Brewing opened. wasn't sad to see it go away and won't shed a tear over this either. not a fan of the owner.

Victor Caratini, Craig Kimbrel, Brendan Rodgers and Framber Valdez have elected free agency.
it will be so weird to see kimbrel in a different uniform if we don’t re-sign him.-

Lord Huron was fantastic in Houston last night. My third time to see them in the past 18 months and those dudes show up and don’t nail in anything. Lots of thought and creativity in every song/performance/visual. Loved the live version of Ends of the Earth.
Kevin Morby (who i wasn’t familiar with before he was named the opener) was incredibly meh.-

i’ll be at the houston show on wednesday. can’t wait. -
Big Owl is just a beer bar and they have a tiny 1/2 or 1 barrel “brewery” inside.

It’s late so maybe I’m not getting this, but unless Skubal can swing a bat, would it really have mattered?
after the carpenter homer with no outs in the 6th, they went 10 innings without scoring again
probably because skubal had retired 14 consecutive batters and the tigers pen immediately gave up a run (and the lead) the first inning he didn’t pitch. -
two UCLs breaking off is the best we can do

he definitely knew there were 2 outs when he took the mound. his brain just melted when he didn’t field it cleanly.

that was the worst baseball play i’ve ever seen in my life accounting for importance of the out.

astros legend corey julks and his family have patronized great heights brewing twice this week. thankfully the other guests let them drink their beers in peace.
