Feels like you have to sit and hope that a rookie comes up and has a Diaz like year.
it would also be nice for Diaz to have a ‘23 Diaz like year. OPS went from .846 to .766 year over year (60% increase in PA).-

PH Burnet's Nitro stout is quite good right now. It's basically their traditional stout w/ Nitro as the propellant
My son and I favor Green Battles, but it seems that it is now more of a seasonal for them. I like PH and appreciate their business, but will complain that the pints used to be around 20 oz at $6 and now feel more like 15oz for $7. And the HH prices of old were $4 for that same ~20 oz "pint".
they’re making less money now with higher prices. sucks from the consumer side, but even PHP can’t survive on $6 IPA imperial pints today.-

I'm impressed that you can find a beer picture from 2014. That's dedication to good beer. Why "kind of depressing?"
just lamenting the waning enthusiasm for craft beer in general. hype and lines for PtY would be a welcome indicator of the strength of the industry.-

Pliny the Younger with absolutely no wait (twice) imo…
that is actually kind of depressing. i had PtY for the first time in 2014 when i made the trip to the brewpub in santa rosa specifically for the release. next had it in denver for my bachelor party in 2016 at euclid hall (RIP), one of the great early gastropubs.
edited to add pic of my first PtY-

Ticket prices have gone up a lot, but blame the artists and their agents, not Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster exists to take the blame for ticket prices with their "fees". Artists and their agents choose the prices though.
I paid $59 per ticket for MMJ this morning for the Houston show, so I can't complain, but I have no idea why they would be so drastically different between markets.
also paid $59 for GA floor tickets to MMJ in Houston -

2019 Bregman
R 122
2B 37
HR 41
RBI 112
OPS 1.015
WAR 8.9
2024 Bregman
R 79
2B 30
HR 26
RBI 75
OPS .768
WAR 4.1
in 2019 bregman walked 119 times and K’d 83 times in 690 PA.
in 2024 bregman walked 44 times and K’d 86 times in 634 PA.
walked more than the struck out from 2018-2023 and then all of a sudden K’d TWICE as much as he walked last season. had never had a sub-.350 OBP season until 2024 (.315).
so maybe a pay cut is in order there, alex.-

Quick google search:
If you make $26,000,000 a year living in the region of Ontario, Canada, you will be taxed $13,885,092. That means that your net pay will be $12,114,908 per year.
If you make $26,000,000 a year living in Texas, you will be taxed $10,196,478. That means that your net pay will be $15,803,523 per year.
So if the final offers are similar to what we've been seeing, he'd pocket an extra ~$3.7 million/year with the Astros. If it's just about the bag and securing his grandchildren's obscene wealth, he should sign with Houston (even for marginally less contract salary). If it's just about ego like many pro athletes and getting "paid" more than peers, then double F' you get out of here.
there is some exception for american wage earners in canada. they don’t pay what canadians do in income tax. -

Hah. They got bought out? When? I came here to comment that HEB is carrying some of their stuff now. Their Jai Alai on draft as of 2-3 years ago was unreal and one of the best beers I've ever had.
I had a canned double Jai Alai IPA the other night and it was fine.
they sold to oskar blues (who had already been acquired by private equity group) in 2016. -
How many Houston people we have on this thread? I haven’t gone to a bottle share with strangers in ages. Maybe we need to have one at Great Heights.

Just grabbed tickets for Lord Huron in Houston in October. Already have Red Rocks tickets for Straange Trails anniversary show in May.

I would rank Bregman behind Cammi, Aspromante, Blummer, and Garner.
lol. bregman had a walk-off game-winning hit off a future HOF closer in the world series. but i guess caminiti had a stronger arm and garner a better mustache.-

The Chicago Cubs will pay $8.5 million of Ryan Pressly’s $14 million contract
damn that seems a little low -
i’m not sure how i’m going to survive the weekend without more cowboys coaching search discussion on the radio.

The Astros payroll is paying 71.3 million. 30% of the 237 million dollar luxury tax cap to 4 players with minimal to no contribution to the 2025 team. Jose Abreu (30M), Rafael Montero (11.5), Cristian Javier (12.8) and Lance McCullers (17M)
Throw in their 2 back end pen guys at 19M and 15M plus the backup catcher at 6M. 111.3M…46% of the cap on 4 non contributors, 2 bullpen dudes and a backup catcher
jose abreu is on the books at 19.5M and pressly at 14M so you invented an extra 11.5M there. -
