I don't understand how Sark is like the greatest playcaller of all time in the 1Q then devolves into a fucking retard in the 2H.

He's great strategically and terrible tactically.

Once adjustments are made by the other team, I suspect the constraint that keeps the bread and butter offense running is supposed to be the play action deep ball to Worthy, which isn't working.

Sark probably doesn't understand why it doesn't, though, since "just throw it deep against the Texas defense" works about 95% of the time in practice.

Looked those both up. I bought my son Forbidden Island for Christmas last year and he promptly lost 1/3 of the pieces before we tried to play it. The Quest for El Dorado looks good too. Thanks!

Either The Quest for El Dorado or The Quest for El Dorado: The Golden Temples - the second is a standalone expansion.

Other recommendations: Gods Love DinosaursBärenpark MicroMacro: Crime City – Full House, or one of the Dice Throne sets.

Would they be ready for real Catan or Ticket to Ride? What would y'all suggest?

Those would work. Your might also consider a co-op, like Forbidden Island. My recommendation would be Race for El Dorado, though. It's easy to learn, and it introduces deck building mechanics. And it's fun, even for experienced hobby gamers.

I agree that BWG was very pessimistic here for a team that will likely win 18-20 games. I think it is in the name "Bitter," and when you are reading a writer you have to understand their relative ratio of optimism to pessimism and standardize it from there. Once you do that you can still get a good read balanced amongst other views.

I absolutely find value in commentators and reviewers who provide takes and commentary that don't align with my own. I can think of a number of folks who have preferences pretty much diametrically opposed to my own, but whose insight I find valuable, even if I disagree with it. You think Texas will suck this year and Beard is overrated? I'm here to hear your reasoned argument. Maybe you'll convince me.

"Chris Beard fucked my girlfriend in college, and Shaka Smart once made eyes at me from across the court and later told me I was handsome so it was clearly the players' fault and not the coach" isn't valuable critique: it's just noise, and it's gotten pretty fucking pathetic at this point. There's plenty to criticize about Beard, but I think most people's problems with BWG's articles is that they don't read like they're written in good faith. He had an opinion, then went looking for facts - but also "facts" - to support it.

You can argue that he's just a pessimist, but I can't read that as anything as other than professional courtesy or unfamiliarity with his oeuvre. Did you miss his takes on Marquette and Texas last year? I'm pretty sure people have met BWG, but if you told me that he was actually Shaka Smart in a dipshit blogger/podcaster suit, I'd believe you.

Lol. These guys don’t give a shit about the Eyes of Texas or the University of Texas.  They don’t give a shit about an education. They’ve got one chance at life and that is making NIL money and going to the next level.  Barring that, most will end up flipping burgers at McDonalds and that’s if they actually decide to try to contribute anything to society.

You sound like a fucking moron, and you'd probably be more comfortable on TexAgs.

In preference for fucking who? We already know  Card brings even less to the table, no fucking thanks. What other receiver should have gotten more targets?

Obviously Ewers has a significantly higher ceiling than Card. But you think Card could have somehow done worse in the second half?

Instead of pacing back and forth on the sidelines looking like he needed to take a shit, maybe Sark could have tried, you know, literally fucking anything when it became clear Plan A wasn't working.

Even great players can have an off game. It's on the coach to adjust when that happens.

Settler's of Catan, Risk, Axis and Allies, Kemet(like Risk, but Egyptian mythology). Those are what I play, open to try other board games.

Would love to play some Warhammer, but too expensive.

    Give Root a shot.

It's a war game, which seems to be in your wheelhouse, but each side plays almost entirely differently.

If you find a faction you particularly enjoy in Root, you'll be able to find other games that expand on that mechanic.

Let's get Bijan 200 yards and 3 tds

    J-Whitt 100 yards and a td

Worthy 200 yards and 2-3 tds

And Sanders 100 yards and 2 tds

You forgot RJ. And we might want to sneak one with Quinn, just to get it on film.

Gimpy QB2 is doing well with some reps.
    Admit it.. he's doing well.
    Maybe better than that.

Was it the QB whisperer or was it just forgotten potential?

I say it's all Card really needed.

Reps.  It's a chance to adjust to College Defense.

I'd like to see our long bomber Quinn E-wurs kicking ass soon, but Card can kick his time some more
