Beilein has been to two championship games. Hard to imagine you’re going to do better than that unless you want pitino (which I would take in a heartbeat).

are your choices if you need someone that has “closed the deal” in April. You don’t want tubby, but don’t worry, Kevin Ollie and pitino are looking for jobs.
Beilein is a damn good choice given the alternatives. I’d still make a run at Chris Mack first. Also, having beilein for 6 years and hiring with a rebuilt program is a lot better than hiring another risk and having 10 years of shit to rebuild with when you hire again in 5. Beilein is a damn safe hire.
mack and pitino are still who i would go grab though. Pitino May be virile but still least you know he has a lust for life and the game and wants to fuck everyone in the NCAA. Beilein might be tired.
Defensive efficiency. Sorry. Had to edit. Better than Virginia and tech last year. Better than any team since 2002. They’re good. We have an elite defense though. Will be a great game hopefully. They should have the edge like I mention up thread.
Anyone who hasn’t been really should go. It’s an amazing facility with great history you can see, feel, and read in the museum. It’s so close to us in the Midwest, a really special place. Would recommend sitting as close to the students as possible without being in them.
Gotta be the dumbest take I've ever heard. In 2007-2008 he finished with 21 wins. We'll consider that the year he turned the corner with the rebuild. So take KU out of it.... What happened in the 5 out of 11 years where he finished at .500 or below? Did he just not have any talent in those years? Why didn't he beat the other coaches? There are plenty of teams in the big12 that he hasn't beaten that have all had FAR less talent than he has had. Why didn't he come in second, 3rd, or 4th every year? Also, if talent is your argument why he can't win then are you saying that recruiting isn't a part of coaching? Bill Self took Tulsa as far as Drew has gotten. Recruiting is part of being a college coach.
I'm trying to give him some respect. You don't need to poke your head out and try to earn it for him. Makes me re-read the stats and have less respect for him.
It's going to be an ugly game. I think baylors guards are more consistent on offense, but not necessarily better. I think we are better on defense. They get to the offensive glass like at KU and they will definitely beat us. If our outside shots aren't falling they definitely win. We have 2-4 things we have to do well against them to win and they only have to do 1-2 things well to beat us is how I see it.
Regarding Drew, if he would have stopped just trying to ride the talent train years ago he could have a final four. With some of the size and athleticism that has come through Waco there has never been any reason for them to not get to a final 4 by now. Frankly, my biggest digs on him are that he is lazy as a coach and that he lets better teams get in his head (specifically KU). He stopped being lazy and actually teaches defense now. We'll see if he lets the win streak and success get into his head with how he coaches his team to end the season. He gets wins the conference, is competitive in the big12 tourney (champ game appearance), and is at least competitive in an E8 loss (or gets further) this year then I'll final stop saying drew is a bad coach. Then it will be about maintaining his stature at the top of the league and a march stalwart for me to call him a good/above average coach.
This is a big year for him as a coach. He should win some hardware. I'm also hoping that Baylor gets their Karma and becomes the 2nd #1 team to lose to a 16 seed.
I thought wvu would beat them on the boards and have a chance. Drew might earn some respect from me this year. Especially if he gets out of the elite 8.
I stand corrected. Thanks for the info.
I didn’t say he was old I said he looked old as shit. Like his health has taken a major toll on him. He looked 60 when he was in his 40s.
Yep. Until Baylor loses at home it is theirs to lose. This is the crunch time of the season though. I’ve felt like KU ha had no chance many years since Bill Self got to Lawrence and teams always stumble down the stretch. Going to be a fun, but I think disappointing, end to the conference slate for Ku. We’ll be VERY lucky to tie it up.
Yeah nobody knows except him what the problem was. I’m thinking it was more urban meter-esque. Then again he is young but looks real fucking old so maybe he has real shit health. He can coach but is he healthy enough to recruit and compete each day is the question.
*I meant 4 teams are definitely in with Tech being the 4th along WVU, KU, and Baylor.
Also, I don't know how anyone can look at this and not think the league is WAYYYY down on the whole. Usually this time of year ESPN is speculating on definitely 7 and maybe 8 if a team makes a good run. Sure we have 3 REALLY good teams and 1 damn fine team. But the rest of the league is mediocre to flat out bad. If you look at OU's wins they look like this:
@UT - win, 46% chance of win
@ISU - L, 47% chance of win
@KSU - L, 56% chance of win
WVU - W, 44% chance of win
They haven't shown a capability to consistently win tight match up. Could easily be a 4 team year for the big12.
Didn't Beilein say that the cavs will be his last job? Maybe I'm making that up but I feel like he mentioned that he's going to be done after the cavs. He's 67 fwiw.
Went through the schedules and the Massey Ratings on the remaining games. Here is what is projected for each team:
Baylor: 29-1 with 2 toss up games
KU: 27-4 wiht 1 toss up game
Tech: 20-11 with 1 toss up
WVU: 23-8 with 1 toss up
OU: 20-11 with 3 toss ups
UT: 16-15 with 1 toss up
TCU: 14-17 with 1 toss up
ISU: 12-19 with 1 toss up
OSU: 14-17 with 1 toss up
KSU: 11-20 with 2 toss ups
Please note, that I am not sure if the ratings are taking into account the Halliburton injury, or any other injury.
I counting a win or a loss within 5% (a 55% win or a 45% loss) as a toss up. What I am seeing is that the big12 has 3 teams in for sure. OU has the win-side toss ups (@OSU, Tech, @TCU) if they lose all of those then they are probably out. Win 1 and they are really pushing their luck. Win 2 and they are in. Baylor has 2 win-side toss ups (KU, @WVU). KU has 1 lose-side toss up (@Baylor). For the record, farmageddon @ISU is a toss up game with KSU.
