I haven't bought the game yet due to some different reasons, but I was wondering what everyone's impressions were a few months in. I think I remember people complaining originally that the beginning was a little tedious, with some of the routine tasks you had to do, but it seems like that might have died down. What are people's general impressions, and how is the story compared to the original?

Oh, and as to this....I still think a lot of it is a bit too tedious and confusing. It took a long time before it was clear to me the difference between what you can craft yourself, what a butcher can craft for you, what a trapper can craft for you and what a fence can craft for you. And some of the recipes are just bizarre and I can't see myself ever taking the time to collect 3 perfect ram pelts, 2 skulls from a canary, 4 feathers from a carrier pigeon, 2 bay leaves and a sprig of thyme just so I can craft a tent for Dutch to sleep in or some shit.

  2. There's a musical montage ride into camp in Chapter 5 but that's the only one I can think of so far. Oh, and I suppose when you get the gang to posse up and go to the mansion in search of _____. That was pretty cool.

How closely to the percentages correlate to completion of the main story? I feel like I'm getting to the end and I'm into the lower 60s. I don't want the main story to end, trying to prolong it as much as possible. I'd guess I'm near the end of Chapter 5.

I have gotten 3 legendary animals (bear, ram, beaver) and they were fairly easy, but the coyote is hard as hell.  He circles back on himself so his tracks are everywhere and he doesn't seem to stop moving.  Will have to go back.  I got one good shot in on him and then he bolted and I never saw him again.

Go into Rhodes and buy as much dynamite as you can. Put it into one of those chests that you can find in houses, at campsites, etc, and label it 'ACME'. He'll come running.

  4. I think I have the hang of the legendary hunting deal. You can pretty much ignore the white bubble and the ?s if you follow some of the advice above. As soon as you get the notification that you're in territory, turn on dead eye and scan 360. You will see the yellow beehive within 30 yards or so. You run to it, examine clue, go right back into dead eye and follow the animal Seagal path away from the animal poop. You'll see another beehive within 30-40 yards. Run to it, examine the sticks/fur/dung and go back into dead eye and follow the path to the next beehive. After that clue the animal is gonna be within eyeshot of you, you can use the Seagal track to find it if it's not obvious. I did the fox, coyote, boar and beaver tonight and they were all so close I didn't even need Seagal eye. They're also all albino so pretty apparent, even in the night.

Thanks all. I guess I was getting too distracted by the white bubble and the ?s.

Yeah, I have those, I believe. It's just the medium/large size fish lake and river lures. She doesn't have anything else on her menu that is locked so I assume that's what they are.

You have to do a stranger mission for this guy on a dock that requests legendary fish before you can buy the special lures at that swamp place.

Oooh. Yes. Good info. Where is this, anyone know?

  6. Thanks all. I'll give it another run.

Re: legendary fish - is there any kind of a secret there? Or just use the standard lake/river lure in the right spots? Any special action that cues you that you're hooking a legendary fish vs. an ordinary one? My biggest issue is that reeling in the regular fish can be so tedious I get sick of trying 3-4x and only getting a regular fish.

Sometimes the animal won't spawn and you'll receive the "area too busy" message. This basically means that some dumbass was riding by on their horse when you entered the area. Just go a little bit away and set up a camp, sleep for a day or two and then go back to the legendary animal territory.

If you inspect the three clues and then don't kill the animal or it escapes you, then you have to wait 72ish ingame hours for it to spawn again, that's when you get the animal away message.

Thanks. It's odd. I don't get the animal away message every time. But I definitely don't get the white bubble and the 3 clues every time, either. Yesterday I entered the territory for the Fox, the wolf and the moose on horseback, got the message that I was in the territory, but no white bubble or clues and no message that there was too much activity. Puttered around using my Steven Seagal night vision mode in all 3 areas and couldn't find shit.

  8. I just don't understand the legendary animal hunts. I've googled, but most of them are just showing you the locations which duh, are on my map already. I've gotten the bear obviously and was in a situation where I was tracking one of the others and had some ?s on the map and investigated clues....but then there would be other ?s and I would go to those and there would be nothing there at all, no matter how hard or long I looked.

Also, when you enter the legendary animal territory, do you need to have the white circle in order to actually have the animal there? I have entered a few of them multiple times and I get the message that I'm in their territory but no white circle. (PS4) I hold down on left and right and look for clues or tracks and nothing other than rando animals. Sometimes I get the message that the animal has left and won't be back for some time (wtf is that BS). Other times, I enter the territory and stake it out for 2-3 days looking for clues in L3 + R3 mode and can't find shit and get frustrated and give up.

  9. I've never smoked pot in my life. I pulled a muscle in my neck really badly at the end of summer which caused a bulging disc/pinched nerve and I was in agony for 2-3 weeks and on the fritz for a good month or two beyond that. Chiro, Ortho, PT, etc....it took me a good 2.5 months before I was relatively pain free in every day life and I still had some symptoms at times. But I digress...I was desperate. I bought a vial of the stuff (Charlotte's Web) at Fresh Thyme (grocery store, not sure if you have them down in TX). It did seem to make me sleepy. It said a dosage was two droppers. Well the droppers only filled up halfway. So after 2 (1/2) droppers didn't do shit I moved to 4. I did 4 one night at golf league and I swear it fucked me up something royal in combo with 2-3 beers. Maybe my imagination. I backed way off after that and haven't touched it since. I understand that scientifically it should have no psycho-tropic effects but I swear it messed with me that night. It didn't really seem to help my pain fwiw, but I did feel that it mellowed me out. Maybe my imagination.

  10. From yesterday. This was the breast off of the 18 lb 'cocked bird.

    Dry brine after 'cock.

Prep yesterday before transporting and plopping on the cooker.

Setup. He looks so small. I cut the wing tips off. Took off the top shelf so I could get a foil pan underneath and get some drippings.

I tried to get the light blue smoke here. Fail. But still kinda pretty.

The legs and thighs were done way ahead of the breasts. I guess I overdid the ice. I cut them off and rested them well before the breasts. This pic also includes the arm pits. Pulled those and the wings, too. Funny, my kid and his cousins love the drums. No one else wants anything to do with them.

  11. I posted my grandmother's apple pie recipe on the old board. I need to find it. I fucked this year's pie up because I followed my email recipe which wasn't as detailed. It was still good but not as good as usual. Fuckin' what's his name.

  12. So...I haven't made my turkey yet. I cut out the neck and back bone to 'cock it. Didn't get the giblets (wife picked it up from the farm and guessing she refused). I wanted some stock to use for the stuffing/dressing and gravy but I didn't want to cook the entire neck. Tl;Dr my stock is underwhelming and watery after simmering for almost 2 hours. Any tips for quick fix flavoring? Chicken bullion powder?

    For cornbread in dressing
    2 eggs
    1 cup milk
    1 cup corn meal
    1/2 cup flour
    1 tsp salt
    1 tsp baking powder
    1/3 cup melted shorting

Grease your iron skillet with the shortening and put the rest in the batter

Bake at 400 for 25 minutes

NMAS I'm going to give this dressing a run for tomorrow's meal. Need to prep it tonight because I'm going mobile with the trailer in the morning. Do you suggest I bake it tonight, refrigerate and warm it up when it's time to eat tomorrow afternoon or mix it together and bake it at my host's house before serving?

  14. Ohhhh the Nassar jokes! That's so creative and funny! Yes, let's use sporting matches as a vehicle to mock the sexual assault of children! In all seriousness, it is a horrific ordeal and if you read my posts elsewhere you know that I took no pleasure in it and have been harshly critical of the way the administrators handled it.

I have no idea what to expect with this squad this year. Frankly we are not that talented, compared to the top teams in the country. Even though we played well in the second half (and more so late) against KU we are not in their class. We have a lot of depth and some good players but no one great. We will get out classes by teams with size and athleticism at the guard positions and at the 5. Ward is a bully and a load but he's 6'8. If you watched the KU game you saw that he was useless against Azeuafdfbfbwuke. I believe I read that you guys have some length in the front court. If there is bulk to go with that length Ward can be easily frustrated and that's when things start to fall apart.

As I said earlier, Izzo is going to get out and run. If Shaka employs his press (I honestly don't know if this is a FT thing or a sometimes thing - I don't have much time to watch hoops outside of MSU), it could be a really fun to watch up and down game. I would look for MSU to get Winston and the fr Loyer on the floor to try to break that. Both great passers.

Good luck smoking a bird that big.

    Rib roast looks awesome.

Posted earlier about this on Page 1. No issues at all with a big bird. Not sure why the mass paranoia. I do it every year. Turns out great.
