I've been to 3 breweries (circle, adelbert's, hopsquad) to catch matches since game 1 and they are far and away above the best spot. Energy is unreal, getting better and less awkward each time as casual folks start to buying into the culture. Los Verdes and La Murga de Austin set up there. The beer seems a bit off since having to scale up so quickly and unexpectedly, but the last couple batches of Italian pilsner has been pitch perfect and the mexican lager feels a bit more dialed in and less malty than the past. Either way, yes, great game watching spot both indoors and out.
Well, we keep drinking them out of Zapatista. I don’t think they anticipated the extreme demand created by LV watch parties.

Can someone explain Wolff's comments about Ring's red card after the match? I couldn't tell if he was saying the ref should have used more discretion in throwing the 2nd yellow card or if he was saying the ref still had the discretion to not turn it into a red card. (I am only familiar with youth soccer, where a 2nd yellow is an automatic red. I assume that's the same in MLS.)
Second yellow is an automatic red. He was saying it shouldn't have been a yellow. Which is dumb, because there were at least three tackles Ring made that could have been yellows in the second half and the ref had just told him to cut it out.
Also, the first red of Ring's MLS career. Could be pretty tricky for Lil Sebastian vs LA Galaxy this week.

its GAME THREE dude
but yeah, stuver seems really shaky back there. and with our style of playing out of the back, he's gotta get better with his footwork. i think we'll have at least one deflected keeper error goal in the next few games. and those punches gotta be better clearances.
gallagher has to be in the first 11
Question: (i could easily look this up i guess, but lazy), how many subs does a side get per match? saturday was only the 3rd ever full MLS match i've watched and i think i counted 5 for AFC.
Believe it’s five subs, up from three due to the pandemic. But only at three points in the game, which is why several came on at once during the first substitution.
I’m really high on Stuver. He has a command of the system and playing the ball out of the back, which is what Josh wants. Second in the league in saves since he’s often under pressure. Not bad at all for a journeyman who nobody expected to start.

Gallagher's the one out of Notre Dame? He had some wheels. Liked his effort.
Yeah. He has a great quote in the press conference last week. He talked about being smaller than your traditional striker but also noted that he’s bigger than Josef Martinez.

The corner this shot is from is also a super interesting part of the building. I’ve heard that it’s going to be a place to hang and drink a beer from the bar behind it, an area where they are selling standing room tickets, a spot that can be reserved for a group or some combination of the three.

Alright the season is getting close and I need to start paying more attention. Who should I be following on Twitter for Austin FC news or for general MLS news?
This Twitter has most of the local media types, Austin FC staff, players and fans who are active. I'm on it, which is the most important thing.
https://twitter.com/i/lists/1297900873448861703?s=20MLS-wise check out @PaulTenorio, @SamStejskal, @andrew_wiebe, @MattDoyle76, @TomBogert

A month of road games before the 1st home game in mid-June. Still tying up all the loose ends on the stadium? It was looking pretty badass the last time I was over there, a couple weeks ago. Gonna be a hot one for the home opener, but I'm sure it will be packed to SRO.
And I count 16 home & 18 away. Is that normal?
Stadium is supposed to be finished mid-April but they need time to hire and train 1000+ game day staff. Which they have to do in small groups because of COVID.

Any reason the Austin Front office is shitting on the supporter groups having a hand in the new name for the Texas rivalry and trophy? Had our meeting with our front office and basically Houston and Dallas are on board but Austin wants a corporate sponsor lol
I’ve heard conflicting stories on this. Pretty sure that’s not the case. Saying this as a very early participant in the conversation.

FCD and original Dallas Burn season ticket holder here. Have been following the Austin FC development from a far. I'll be honest, if it were in a different state, I'd probably just switch but that seems wrong. Soon we'll be rivals but I'll have soft spot for some time I think.
It's weird how many soccer fans there are in DFW, but FCD sees to have ignored so many of us. Packed bars for Liverpool/manu/Spurs/etc. games and especially for the USMNT, but they haven't been able to use that to generate/hold the interest from that community.
Some is likely the stadium location, but there are bigger issues imo. Hope Austin avoids those.
We interviewed Jon Arnold a couple weeks ago and he talked about how FCD doesn't really know what they want to be and that their marketing game is pretty weak. You can't sell out stadiums just appealing to soccer moms in Frisco.
