Capitalism is TERRIBLY unfair. Worse yet, there is no economic system any better.

And to that point the "login.gov" site you use for this is incredibly sell set up and easy to use. For security, after you log in, it texts you a secure login code as a 2nd step.
The Federal Government impressed me here. I did not expect that.

You know how rumors go. I was told this morning that it has a "roof" (presumably stone) under the wood roof that burned. That roof survived and preserved much of the interior.

Our building techniques commonpy used are not designed to withstand 800 years. That doesn't mean we aren't perfectly capable of engineering something designed to last 2000 years that looks the same. Our biggest setback would be lack of old growth timber with clean straigh wood.
This. It was built with stone and hardwood at a time when regular buildings used dirt, thatch and animal skins. Build something out of reinforced concrete set down on bedrock, stainless steel, etc. It'll last a thousand years with good maintenance.

Not saying the repairs should be of the "post-modern architectural" type. Just saying 21st century technology can be used behind the scenes.

Libya
in Daily Texan
https://www.foxnews.com/world/in-libya-a-rogues-gallery-of-militias-prepare-for-war
Libya is on the verge of an all-out war involving a rogues' gallery of militias, many of which are little more than criminal gangs armed with heavy weapons.
The country slid into chaos after the 2011 uprising, in which rebels overthrew and killed longtime dictator Moammar Gadhafi and looted his vast arsenal. Even more weapons have flowed in since then, despite a U.N. arms embargo, as Arab states have backed local allies and Western nations have partnered with militias to combat extremists and stem the flow of migrants.
A former general is now marching on the capital, Tripoli, where an array of militias — which have fought each other in the past — have for now joined forces to prevent a return to one-man rule. The fighting has already killed around 150 people, according to U.N. figures. The International Crisis Group, a Washington- and Brussels-based think tank, said last week that the two main coalitions "appear equally matched," with fighter jets, gunships and heavy artillery.
In short: Libya is all messed up.

I bet they get it done within 10 years. 1) high-profile campaign will easily get them $1-$2 billion. Worldwide. 2) "We have the technology". If you're a stonecutter/carpenter/etc., you're there and will get paid handsomely.
Because it's Easter Week, and because this is one of the most unearthly beautiful things I've heard on YouTube, Victimae Paschale Laudes, the Easter Sequence, sung from... Notre Dame by the Choire of Notre Dame de Paris, arranged by former cathedral organist Pierre Cochereau (d. 1984), played by current titular (er, "chief") organist Pierre Grandmaison ... in 2009. Sound isn't terrific but it's good enough. If nothing else, the last "Amen. Alleluia." at 3:00-3:15 is drop-dead gorgeous.
Imagine how much more unbelievably incredible this would sound in person - Notre Dame has a more resonant, lasting echo to it than most other cathedrals. You are immediately surrounded by a swell of sound, there's almost nothing like it (and I've been to a buncha cathedrals). Imagine this live. Well, you can't. Neither can I (wasn't there for this). Unbelievably, no-words-beautiful what sounds can come from that organ in that church.Yeah I don't think they'll have any budget constraints. And they'll be able to use modern engineering and building techniques to rebuild it better than ever. Just imagine the acoustics they can build into that thing.

It gets a V8. I think early speculation was a turbo V6? But that DOHC for the higher models must use a new block architecture.

I had my card within a few weeks but I've never used it. Why do you care about your card?
I though I needed it. Are you saying my passport can do it all?

You just need your number which you should’ve been given at the interview.
I have my number.

Got it that day.

If I am eating pasta at Olive Garden, I too would be doing it belligerently.
Will admit, have done the soup, salad and breadsticks for a cheap lunch. Am not going there for good Eye-talin food though.
I like their chicken parmigiana.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-china-swinefever-pork-idUSKCN1RO0MP
Up to 200 million pigs could be culled or die from being infected as African swine fever spreads through China, Rabobank said, by far the highest such forecast yet and underscoring the gravity of the epidemic in the world’s top pork producer.
Such a number would mark a huge chunk of the nation’s pig herd, which Rabobank says stood at 360 million animals late last year, and comes as many in the industry say the spread of swine fever there is much worse than authorities have reported.
The drop would drag down China’s pork output by 30 percent in 2019 from last year, Rabobank said in a statement late on Thursday, boosting demand for meat imports and sapping appetite for animal feed made from commodities like soybeans.
The Ag community has been talking about this for awhile, and it's just now hitting the mainstream press. They eat huge amounts of pork, and much of it is produced in small, backyard pens. (Think backyard chickens in the US.) Biosecurity in these farms is impossible and when one farm gets it, it spreads quickly.
No vaccination exists. I'm sure they're working on one, but until they have it, Chinese pork production will struggle.
