Damn that’s a great looking rifle. The 25-06 would be my first choice in caliber.

whats the difference in the no.1 and no.1B?

    The 1-B is the standard 26" walnut/blued....#1-BBZ is Stnlss/Laminate...

    Guide:

    Quote

1-A: This is the model called the Light Sporter. It has a 22" barrel with iron sights and an Alex Henry forend (Yes! That's the one with the groove in it...) Weight: about 7 1/4 lbs.

1-AB: This is also a Light Sporter , but has NO iron sights and a semi-beavertail forend. (Kind of a cross between the 1-A and the 1-B) These were made from 1981-'83 and disfontinued when the #1-RSI was introduced...

1-B: This model is called the Standard Sporter. It has a 26" clean barrel (No sights) Wieght: about 8 lbs.

1-S: This model is called the Medium Sporter . It has a 26" barrel with sights and Alex Henry fore-end. Chamberings Were : 7mm Rem Mag, .300 Win Mag, .338 Win Mag, and .45-70 Gov't... .45-70 has 22" barrel. (Recently the .338 RCM and some pistol chamberings were added with 22" barrels...)

1-RSI: This model is called the International model. It has a 20" barrel with full stock and sights. (.243 Win, 7x57, .270 Win, and .30-06)

1-H: This is Tropical rifle. It has a 24" Heavy bbl with sights. Calibers: .375 H&H and .405 Win. in a fairly heavy barrel. (Weight: Just over 9 lbs.) and .416 Rem, .416 Rigby, .404 Jeffery, .458 Win Mag, .400/.450 Nitro Exp., and .450 NE. w/ Very Heavy barrel (About 10 lbs.) (Also has Alex Henry for-end)

1-V: This is the Varmint Model. This has 24" heavy barrel with beavertail fore-end in .223, .22/250 .243, 6mm Rem, and .25-06. 26" heavy barrel in .220 Swift. (Back in the '70's, a few 1-V's were produced in .280 Rem, 7mm Rem Mag, and .300 Win Mag... ) Ruger catalog lists the weight as 9 lbs, but I believe they are heavier than that. More like: "God-Awful-Heavy".

I’m wanting to get a Barnes LRX @ ~2800 FPS load worked up, should be good medicine for Africa or Alaska trips I’m hoping to make.

270 gr should be enough down range energy for the dark continent...

Good looking Ruger, I looked at a no. 1 today in 405. Those are great looking rifles.

Thanks, RMac, they're handsome pieces for sure. Here's a 25-06 1-B like new pawn find...great wood and shoots small. Used a fixed 6 glossy.

    Nice looking rifles, NoHarley.

My next purchase will be a Nosler M48 Liberty in 26 Nosler.  Found them on sale for just over a grand, normally priced around 1800.

The Excalibur was a steal from Scheels Utah.

Thats a great price on the Liberty

Finally picked up one of my grail guns (my uncle is liquidating everything in his arsenal that isn't .30 caliber)

A JM stamped Marlin 1895GS in .45-70 with lots of custom work done to it.  Barrel cut to 16.25", magnaported, big front blade sight with ghost ring rear, upgraded internals (hammer, trigger, springs, etc)   It's not a Grizzly custom but it also wasn't 3,000 dollars.

Dont have a pic of it at the moment but this is almost exactly what she looks like:

Cool platform and caliber...almost hit buy after viewing Wind River.

Interdasting.  Wear a B width?  My feet aren't narrow per se, so much as "low volume," meaning top-to-bottom rather than side to side.  But I think with age I may have spread out toward a D, hard to tell.  Where do you buy them?

I've a few online sources but call them to discuss terms and delivery....their B is perfect for my blades. Hardy boot, especially like the hybrid sole as it gives a extra tack for motorcycle duty.

How do you like that magpul furniture on the 590? I’ve been thinking about swapping mine to that.

Do it, the ergonomics are worth the expense...adjustable LOP shims, effective recoil pad & good pump grip.
