Needed a 3 meter socket.  Found some approved models for $500 with 128 day lead time!  Ended up going with one for $950 that will supposedly be here in a week. Also, 3” pvc conduit seems to be a little short in supply. Not impossible to get, but having to call around and bit more costly than it seems it should be

WTF is a “3 meter socket”?

I look at every post that names like 10-15  movies and realize I've seen only 2 or 3 of them.  You guys just like movies a lot more than me.  But Jojo Rabbit is a great fucking movie.

That’s probably because a lot of us have nothing to do while you are busy flying planes and being filthy rich.

Not surprised.  As much as you and I disagree on a lot of things, at least we frequently acknowledge when the other has a good point about something.   The vast majority of people out there are too fucking stupid to even know when or why someone is making a good point

Sheesh, get a room you two.

  4. Somebody explain this to me. In the team slalom competition last night, US goes against Norway for the bronze medal. US is down 2-1. Radamus goes last. The announcers say that he has to win by at least 0.4 seconds in order to get the tiebreaker. They race and the Norwegian guy doesn’t finish the race, but Norway wins the tiebreaker. WTF?

Ok, so I've been a casual viewer of the Olympics. There's nothing that I make appointment television to see. But I always click over to see what's showing.

It's widely felt that the NBC coverage is bad, right? Seems like the primetime stuff is wayyy more talking/human interest than actually showing events. And then it's very, very U.S. centric. I understand the U.S.-centered broadcast, but during the Olympics I went outside the country and watched an international feed.

It was night and day. There, it was just sports non-stop. Watched skiing where it was just one after another heading down the slope. It wasn't all the ancillary camera shots of people warming up, or watching at the bottom of the hill to see if their score was beaten.

On another note, recent events have me wanting to make some kyc free purchases of bitcoin. Has anyone used atms before? There’s a premium you have to pay but it’s maximum private ownership. Think I’m going to buy and put that on my new ColdCard.

I bought BTC on two different ATMs and both times I had to put a driver’s license for the machine to take a picture of, so not too sure about the “kyc free” thing. I believe these fucking machines also take pictures of your face. I don’t know what would happen if instead of putting your driver’s license you put a piece of paper with “fuck you” written on it, but I’d be curious to find out. I suppose you would also want to wear a hat and those glasses with fake eyebrows and nose and mustache for the picture.

Has anyone gotten shingles after getting their vaccine? I have a nasty blistery spot on my right arm as of this last week. And like shingles, it’s localized in one area of the body.

    Da fuck?

Shingles sub reddit has some threads and people saying they got it a few months after their second dose…I’m at about 5 on mine.

Yes, me. Three months after second dose.

I actually came here to post that study (which had just published) just because it challenged even my assumption of minimal risk to those with no comorbidities, and spoke to your question as to the efficacy of vaccination for not-at-risk populations.

I'm not an aloof cunt, I'm a sarcastic one. Well, maybe aloof in that I don't know who the fuck you are, as outside of a few people who post decent scientific info here I don't pay attention to the names of those who routinely post the usual crap (unfounded vaccine safety concerns, statements of steamrolled development, 'I know people who were never vaxxed and we had the same outcome', etc.). If I always post in response to you, well, FAFO I guess.

Anyone know what the latest announcement from BlockFi really means?  And bigger picture, is it still a safe place to put money?  I started out small but have been making regular deposits and purchases trying to dollar-cost-average it.  Now if I lost it all, it would hurt.

What do you mean by “is it still a safe place to put money”? None of those crypto exchanges are safe places to put your money, and they never were.
