  1. I'm warming to Ash.  If the team does well, he'll probably be gone in two years for a HC position and Herman's seat will be cool enough to snag an upgrade from another program.  If he fails, who cares, Herman will be canned and we're starting over anyway.  If the floor for keeping Herman is being a solid Top 10 team in two years, that's not an unreasonable goal with Ash and Harrell as your coordinators.

If Arky had stayed in the SWC would they not have made the Big 12 over baylor? Wouldn’t Texas and the Oklahoma schools want them, if nothing else, for geographical reasons?

Baylor and Tech alums in the Texas legislature basically strong-armed Texas and Texas A&M into taking Tech and Baylor with them from the SWC into the Big 12.

I think if you separate our views from the landscape of the process, it makes perfect sense. We're viewing it as a drinking buddy thing. In reality, Herman could be simply offering "I won a title with this guy as my defensive counterpart. He's as good as there is out there and he fell into our lap. Let me let him get to work." While we think we know better, a superior in that situation, cheering for his subordinate and supposed breadwinner, wants to give him what he needs to turn things around. On paper, Ash isn't going to look much worse than many other guys mentioned here. It's the proximity to Fuckface that has many of us with the heebie-jeebies.

I feel like the BBS community always makes the coaching world more exotic than it is. These are just mildly intelligent humans, at best, with often stunted emotional psyches, trying to do the same shit we all see every day in the working world if we're above entry level. Guys on the boards have turned many of these characters, such as Del Conte, into cartoon characters or Michael Scott and company.

You're absolutely right.  Add that to the fact that Herman anticipates being forced to bring in someone he doesn't know as OC and merge his offense with theirs, it makes sense that Herman wants a known quantity that he trusts and knows how to work with running the side of the ball that he's weak on.  And it could work, it just isn't sexy.

I think a large part of Hutchins failures can be blamed on our S&C program. I have more faith in McKnight, but our 4th quarter performance this year still has me skeptical.

It ain't conditioning.  The offensive line has been plenty effective late in games.  The defense gets gassed because we're not nearly as deep we were last year on defense.  There's a reason so many true freshmen are playing in the secondary and why Hager has played out of position most of the year.

Guess we shall see about those receivers. :)  The productivity is a byproduct of UT throwing nearly 50% more than UGA. UGA’s has 3 receivers and a TE that average more yards per reception than your top guy. Reliability wise, UGA has second lowest drop rate in the SEC, behind only Bama, on the most recent stats I could find. Not saying they’re better, but they are as good as what you’ve been facing. Should be fun matchup to see.

You're saying your passing attack is as good as Oklahoma, West Virginia, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech because of drop rate?

You know that our top two receivers measure in at 6'4" and 6'6", right?  They're not super explosive, but they're still incredibly clutch and really hard to keep the ball away from.

We envy your size on the offensive line, and your front seven on defense, but sleep on our skill players at your own risk.

  6. We've got the skill players to hang with these guys.  We've been running plays that match up with their weaknesses all year in the passing game.  It's all going to come down to the OLine in the end.  We're going to have to run the ball inside eventually if we're going to win, let's just hope we have enough of everything else to wear their front 7 down a bit before we do.

Edit: for anyone here with kids, weed is one discussion. Xanax is a very different discussion. While it's relatively harmless if you know what you're doing, if you start abusing it to get high all of the time it can get ugly quick. Couple that with the fact that you don't know what is going into each pill and treat it as such.

Quoted for emphasis.  Benzos like xanax seem real fun to party with, but you sure as shit do not want to be addicted to them.  It's all fun and games until you're hooked.  Buddy of mine had it real bad with hydrocodone and xanax.  He was taking five bars at a time at one point (as well as 20 norcos, the cost of which is how he got started on xanax).  It was a really nasty detox, it can kill you if you don't do it right.

    With T.Carter and M.Williams gone...

    Assume:

    1)Texas takes 27 in this 2019 Class

    2) B.Jones/LJH/CJ  all return

    3) Porter/T.Houston/Shane GradTrfr

What would Texas roster number currently be for 2019??

According to Inside Texas, we have 79 scholarships.  Of the 17 seniors, 3 redshirted (Burt, Chisholm, Rowland), netting us 14 lost.  You listed 5 transfers, so that brings us down to 60.  You're going to need to lose 2 more to take 27 in 2019 (Demarco Boyd? etc.)

the possession of MJ or xanax alone is the least of his worries in this case.

The Buy is a huge factor, combined with the scale and baggies.

The drug heads on this board cry a little too much on cases like this when it's obvious as fuck what is going on.  It's quite a bit more complicated than simple possession.

and yes, i am pro-legalization and have posted as such for a long time now.

Exactly.  This dude is a sophomore on a Division I scholarship, and he was dealing weed and pills out of his dorm room, where he was also dumb enough to keep his AR15.  Not only is he in deep shit, but you better believe that the entire team is getting looked at.  You can't do something this dumb and not have your teammates know about it.

Remember when Herman was asked how many elite players he had on current roster..... And he was laughed at for saying "SOME"

No Horns players made ESPN'S Best 50 players for 2018 Season.

    West Va had 2

    KState had 1

    Okie Lite had 1

    BlowU had 2

    http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/25504670/college-football-best-players-2018-season,

Good news for both the 2018 and 2019 TEXAS Recruiting Classes is that the Horns are once again signing some Elite Players....

    Hook'em 🤘

If Brandon Jones hadn't been so banged up, he probably would have made that list.  Him and Sterns are the most elite players we probably have.  CJ and LJH on the bubble of elite, followed by Omenihu.  Ehlinger is knocking on the door, all we need is a slightly more reliable run threat from our backs and he should have enough room to flourish.

Yeah, almost a million micrograms of Xanax and pot. Sensationalism in journalism is the suck.

Nah, I can guarantee you that they're just repeating what was written in an arrest report or whatever offense report they received as a public record.  Drug laws are often written in grams, and even laws that are written in ounces like marijuana are measured on scales by cops in grams.

It's a little over 3 ounces, and it looks like they busted him with a buy too, given the third charge of delivery.

So for the 4 previous years, the SEC would have gotten between 1 and 3 total at-large bids, counting this year they would have 2 to 4 for a 5 year period. Hardly some crazy dominance.

Yet the three preceding years (2013, 2012, 2011), the SEC had 3 teams ranked within the top 6  of the AP poll after Week 13.  The only time the Big 12 would have gotten a second team in under this format is 2014.

  13. I'm not a fan of two at-large bids without rules.  I'd say that a rule that no conference be allowed more than two teams (one at-large) would be sufficient to fix it, but it'd guarantee the SEC an at-large bid and nearly guarantee the Big 10 the other every year.

How the heck would the Big 12 ever be able to get two teams into the playoffs if the SEC West champ only has to play half the teams in the East with no CG?

It took me way too much time to figure what the hell you were accusing me of, but all I can say is that you really are not very bright.  Why would I create an account in March to troll you in December?  Oh, by the way, I happen to have an account of the same name on Shaggy, dating back another year to April 2017.  Yeah, 80 posts over two years on two different boards just to troll you... you got me! I'm a Sooner sleeper sent from the future to destroy you!  Get over yourself.
