Refused to pay $10 for a beer at the casino so I stocked up at CVS, walking around with a plastic bag full of Coors Light corner post.  Ate some good food, played a couple of rounds of gold, ate some gummies.  Usual shit.

I fucking love this. Do you have a mustache?

  2. Beaver Creek with my kiddos was badass. The 6 yr old skipped the beginner class in ski school she picked it up so quickly, the 4 yo, not so much. Going back in December and hoping it sticks. I really look fwd to the day I can go up on the mountain with them. The Park Hyatt was the most kid-friendly ski-in/ski-out I have ever stayed in. Kids everywhere.

there's also this event, happens every 4 years, not very big so you may have not heard of it that has lots of skiing called the olympics. You should check it out.

    YOU check it out.

  4. Heading to Beaver Creek this weekend with the family. Putting my daughters (4 & 6) in skis for the first time. 2 days of ski school for them. I am crossing my fingers so hard that they like this sport.

Taos Ski Report - Just got back from MLK weekend of skiing Taos.  Good base, amazingly still very soft quality snow even though it hasnt snowed in 2 weeks, no crowds - exceeded my expectations.  TSV still needs 12-15" more inches to have most of the steeper stuff open....Green chilis on everything you eat is almost worth the trip alone:)

Ty. Heading there at the end of the month and there is no relief in site before I go, snow-wise. I was really hoping that after 3 weeks of no precipitation the pattern would flip, but no dice. I'm sure it will dump the day after I leave. I'm just hoping I don't get injured.

Beaver Creek. Planning a guys long weekend in Feb and staying there. Anything to do if I don’t feel like skiing? In other words a good place to have some drinks while watching the slopes guessing what the bunnies look like under the layers.

    Thanks for help.

Make your way over to Bachelor Gulch either via skiing/boarding or hop on a bus. The Ritz has a great bar outside as well as some couches to sit on with fire pits if they aren't reserved. VERY good people watching.

Mission Beach is cool. It’s has a boardwalk with a wooden coaster and other rides for little kids.

The beach at Torrey Pines State Reserve is really scenic with cliffs right at the beach. There’s some fun short hikes up at the top that weave down to the edge of the cliff. It’s probably my favorite beach in CA.

I can verify that Mission Beach is just perfect with a family. We stayed on the other side of the park from the roller coaster on the boardwalk. We will be doing this every year for Thanksgiving, but extending it for 6 nights instead of 4. Just such an amazing trip. Played Torrey Pines (north) on day 1. Beach on 2nd day. Zoo on 3rd day. Any time we were at the condo, we were on the porch with a cocktail or down at the beach...with a cocktail. Kids love it, and we didnt get to do everything that we had planned due to the beach being so inviting to the kids.

So we are going to pass on Europe this year for Christmas to New Year, my ladyfriend cannot take off as much time as we had planned for.  So I am back to kicking around a ski trip to Canada.  Probably out of Seattle so she has a fairly quick return trip, and the boy and I can stay as long as we want?

Any recommendations?  How bad are the crowds?  Prices and available look fine with a cursory look. Looking for great snow, do not need a giant mountain or night life, and I am fine with small basic resorts like Monarch, Homewood, Wolf Creek, Santa Fe etc.

Whistler has always been on my bucket list. They usually get a ton of snow every winter (especially La Nina winters).

  9. Booked Taos in January and Beaver Creek in February.

I have not skied Taos since I was 12, and it was only for a half day. Am I looking at enough snow coverage in late January to see ~75% of the mountain open? I know it is a La Nina winter, which does not bode well for winters in the southwest, so my expectations are low.
