  1. Archmania is crazy it’s in full force. Number in heisman odds lol and has only played a few games. I hope he lives up to the hype for our sake but if I was another fan of another team I would get the annoyance. Somebody was throwing shade at arch being number 1 in heisman odds and Nahlim said something like everyone in his family has been drafted 1 or 2. I get it, I do. That name holds weight, but I don’t want this to be another Quinn situation where there was no way he was gonna be a bust because he was the highest ranked prospect almost ever. (He wasn’t a bust necessarily but didn’t live up to the hype)

He has looked good the games he’s played and I’m hoping he lives up to all the expectations. Just feel sorry for the kid with all this expectation he feels like he has to live up to. Granted, he does seem bad ass and not phased by anything.

  2. I remember that recruitment. Between us and tOSU. So who is the qb next year? Air Noland transferred and this guy. I’m sure they have a 5 star they signed last year. They must like whoever they have since they haven’t gone portal shopping for a qb.

Just googled it Julian Sayin the bama transfer most likely.
  3. Cal adds another option to replace Mendoza

  4. Obviously the Ohio State game will be extremely challenging, particularly as the opener for the season. Would love to have a warm-up game.
But one real advantage that could come to fruition is Sark having an offensive gameplan that the Buckeyes won't be prepared for at all. Different formations and routes and designs with Arch that didn't show up in this past Cotton Bowl. If we execute, I can see us putting up some points.
Having an entire offseason to prepare for that one game - and knowing the next 3 games are at home vs. pretty shitty competition - allows Sark to throw everything at the Ohio State defense. Can't wait.

I don’t expect the Ohio state game to be easy but don’t they lose everyone good minus smith and downs? Reminds me of the Michigan game this season. I know we lose a lot as well but don’t they lose way more?

Who is their qb gonna be?
  5. Late to the party but Yeah I hate Ohio state.

It’s OU, aggy, then step down to Ohio state. Their fans are annoying and yet they actually win games. They always have good coaches and haven’t wandered the dessert. They steal recruits from us. Fuck em and the whole state of Ohio.

You’re gonna win the entire thing but not beat your own rival? Lame.

  6. I don't agree. The hit rate for 5 stars is higher than 4 or 3 stars and they don't cost what an AA or CFP starter will cost as they contribute early. Sometimes they're not going to work out, but often they do.
There's arbitrage available for teams with money in two ways. Overpaying for 5 star HS guys because they're still "cheap" by comparison to major CFB starters and, separately, having a rich, old billionaire who wants to win a title before he dies and just letting him spend so much money that it causes everyone else to throw in the towel for major CFB starters. Texas has taken advantage of the first scenario and has been beaten up like everyone else in the second.

I really dislike Oregon but I think it’s because their coach looks like Herman and it gives me PTSD.

  7. The last part is interesting for sure. I’d rather go shopping this spring with 2M than pay 2M to retain Manny for sure. Maybe we only go shopping with 1M because that was the number we had penciled in, but I trust (more or less) our staff to get it right.

How many good players came available last spring? I’m not sure. I know we got mukuba, golden, and bond int the first window. I think the white d tackle we got in the spring.

Do players like that go in the spring too? Or is that caliber already gone?
  8. The thing about recruiting is that there's a lot more history supporting how programs perceive value. A 5 star can command $1M because of what they can do if they're playing the right position. Dakorian Moore picked up $1.3M from Oregon. That's the most I've heard of outside of QB, but that's also Oregon. Generally, though, by position a 5 star will go from $100k to $1M. Falloff is gradual but accelerates downward to $0 for many recruits. There are so many risks in terms of the HS recruit profile. Can they handle pussy in college? Learning and not playing much early? Getting hit or hitting others of the same talent level and size? Can they sort a playbook? Handle 100,000 people and that noise in a stadium? Classwork? Etc.
So many of those perceived risks are canceled by college production. Yet, there's almost no history of paying for CFB production. What is a multiyear starting CB for a repeating CFP team worth to someone? Apparently $2M, allegedly. How about a proven Edge like the guy at SCar? $1.5M per year. Betting Simmons is now going to be in that range, probably a little higher.
The list goes on, but that shit is going to continue to change and develop in each cycle. There's no proven equilibrium yet. If someone's team is one All American WR from a title, how much is that guy worth? Probably a lot more than $1.3M.

Is it 1.3 per year or total and with NIL is it payments or lump sum?

    For Moore
  9. Guy you aren't even willing to be tree fiddy or burnt endz at this point.
Talking about scared money don't make no money when you aren't doing the minimum here (maybe you are with the ONE Fund, but doubt it) is worthless
Edit: Tree fiddy / burnt endz may not be showing up correctly, so apologize if you are either or both.

I contribute to burnt ends. Idk how to get on that board because I use tapa (I know) . But RV CXO Consulting LLC takes money from me every month via PayPal.

  10. It feels like it’s wingo. I don’t want him gone but I’d rather keep hill and Simmons if it’s out of those 3.

If wingo goes to mizz then that’s stupid on his part. Now if he goes to Oregon Michigan Ohio state then Texas needs to stop being so nice. Steal someone. Offer Ryan Williams a lot of money to say no. Lincoln tried to do it with worthy. We need to come with the same energy. Ohio state spent a lot last year in the portal. It paid off and now they are willing to do it again.

How bad does Texas want to win? If they aren’t willing to steal and scrap their way to it then that’s on them.

“Scared money don’t make no money”

  11. If anything, the playoffs show you that you don’t need an elite qb to win the whole thing. Howard and Leonard are going up against each other. Geeze.

We could’ve won it all with Quinn but we didn’t. Idiotic play calling and lack of a constient run game against good teams really screwed us.

What it does show is you need a dual threat qb or one that will run if needed. Even in the NFL. True Pocket passers are far and in between
