  1. All I heard was confidence on something imminent for the day, but it’s recruiting and a highly contested player, so anything can happen. Should have just said nothing and let it play out.

No worries, Lotushorn. We all miss sometimes.

And if he came to Texas he'd be stuck behind multiple upperclassmen. After 2 years sitting would it benefit their son to transfer again?

Maybe so.  I know we all want kids to stay at a school, especially when it is UT, but sometimes it isn't what is best for the kid.  We have seen cases where the transfer helped tremendously (Murray), and we have seen some where the transfer hasn't helped (Allen).  If it's my son that is the 5-star quarterback, you can be damn sure that I will do what is best to help him maximize his future.  Every dad in here would do the same.  That might mean staying on at UT and fighting for a position in their 4th year and winning a championship and getting a good degree, but it might mean transferring elsewhere to start right away.  11 of 19 5* quarterbacks have transferred recently.  It's become the norm more than the exception.

Should UT recruit the best talent or just the best talent that they think won't transfer?

I'm with you on the competition, as others have stated. He's already ran away from big boy football, and I can't see him waiting it out for his turn. I guess the only reason I would want him is for the avg rating bump. I'd be pumped for Milroe, too.

This keeps coming up.  Let's just say that he stuck it out at Highland Park....would we even be talking about him right now?   Would he be stuck behind an upperclassman?  They did what they did because they thought it benefited their son.  So far, it looks like they are correct, wouldn't you say?

  4. Probably because it's much more difficult to be a DC in the Big XII than it is to be an OC

True, but I see this phenomenon nationwide. Orlando’s rankings go back to his time in other conferences as well, and they are adjusted rankings (think standardization).
  5. White is going to start for OU this year. He’s a Big 12 LB. Orlando decided to pass on him early because he was too short. By that, I mean he was like an inch shorter than what they wanted. He was all Texas, then Orlando slow-played him, and then we waited for months before trying to recover, after realizing the stupidity of the first action. They went and did the exact same thing this year with the guy currently committed to LSU from Cypress.
Sorry, but Orlando fucking sucks as a recruiter. I’ll be pretty happy when he takes a job somewhere else because I think Herman has zero mental biases with defensive staff talent and will make an excellent replacement hire. Does that mean  I think he can’t coach or that I want him gone? No, but I do expect some of the pure dumbfucks from this board to claim it on other threads.

I know it means nothing to you, but I agree 100% with you. Orlando gets a free pass for his coaching, and I’m not sure why. I don’t think Beck is a top-flight guy, and his offenses put up very similar rankings to Orlando’s defenses over the years. However, Beck is an outstanding recruiter. Orlando isn’t.

It’s much easier to hate an OC than the DC for fans. I’m not sure why, but every team seems to hate their OC, but very few hate their DC.

I thought Jordan was only playing RB because there was no depth. Would he even be there if Cain had come to Austin?

I think he would have eventually gotten there.  They would have used him in positions where he was deemed to fail (like they used Jamison last year), and then after realizing that Brett Robin wasn't going to walk through that door, they would have moved him in Year 2.

Who greenlit that trailer? My god. After Endgame did a great job of not spoiling anything we get this shit?

And I guess Michelle is officially Mary Jane. She goes from the bubbly popular girl to a surly, laconic nerd girl with no friends.

I think you may be Katfidding the two girls.  Parker took the bubbly, popular girl to the dance.  MJ was always surly and was the one on his decathlon team with the attitude and sarcasm.

  8. I’d enjoy getting drunk with him. I picture him telling some pretty good stories.

Got drunk with him, my buddy, Dean Blevins, and two very attractive ladies at the old Spirit Grille in Irving after some radio remote. One of the best times of my life.

Had him autograph my ticket stub from the Richard Walton Texas-Baylor game. He autographed it, “Hook ‘em, Barry Switzer”. I gave it to my OU buddy as a gift.
