‘Twas the night before the SEC Championship, and all through the South,
Not a Longhorn was silent, burnt orange pouring from their mouth.
The banners were hung in Atlanta with care,
In hopes that a trophy soon would be there.

The Aggies were nestled, alone in their beds,
While dreams of “next year” danced in their heads.
Since joining the SEC, they’d tried every way,
But still found themselves at home on game day.

When out on the field, there arose such a clatter,
The Longhorns stormed in—it was their moment that mattered!
Away to the stadium, we flew like a flash,
Hook ’Em signs glowing, a sea of burnt sash.

The moon on the helmets of freshly cut grass,
Showed the Longhorns were here to kick some SEC… class.
When what to our wondering eyes should appear,
But Bevo himself, with a championship near!

With a swagger and grit, so proud and so quick,
We knew in that moment this wasn’t a trick.
More rapid than touchdowns, our victory came,
And we whistled and shouted and called them by name:

“Now Ewers! Now Manning! Now Bond, and Brooks!
On, defense! On, O-line! Let’s rewrite the books!
To the top of the conference, to the heights of it all,
Now dash away, dash away, dash away y’all!”

And down on the sideline, ol’ Aggie did stare,
With a tear in their eye and a defeated glare.
“First year in the SEC, and they’re already there?”
Their maroon hopes dashed, like they never could dare.

The Longhorns played like legends, their legacy grew,
While Aggies were stuck still chanting “Whoop!” with no clue.
For a dozen long seasons, they’d tried and they’d fought,
But the SEC promised more than it brought.

Then Bevo exclaimed, as we took home the crown,
“Hook ’Em, y’all! We own this town!
So enjoy your oil money and second-rate fame,
While Texas keeps winning championship games!”

And as the Longhorns rode off in the SEC night,
Aggie muttered to themselves, “Well… at least we’re polite.”

I can’t stand you nerds sometimes. I can just imagine how giddy you were conjuring this up. Giggling and feet swaying.

  2. If Quinn is so beat up, why not sit? Are you really helping the team with all the turnovers? There’s starters on this team who have been benched for the same level of inconsistency. Gbenda, Blue, Campbell, Moore, etc. Quinns only been benched for a quarter. If he turns the ball over on our side of the field in the SECCG, get the man a tablet.

  3. I attended the game in College Station. I came away pretty impressed with Quinn. I could see what he was seeing on the field. He typically made good decisions. Then I rewatched the game on ESPN and I can see why folks are a bit unhappy. The defense wasn’t going to let us lose that game, but Quinn was trying pretty hard to sell. He had a couple turnovers, but he could have easily had another Georgia type day. There’s not another starter on the team who would be starting with this lack of consistency. Gbenda got benched because he was good for two assignment busts a game. Campbell has been benched multiple times throughout the season. I’d like to see Auburn next if he can’t get it together.

  4. I’ve been critical of Quinn this past month, but I’ve seen steady improvement each week. Whether that’s health or development, I don’t know. I was impressed with him last night. The Ags were rambunctious and he didn’t get flustered. I will say Isiah Bond got fucking manhandled off the line on multiple occasions, and it was clear he was Quinn’s 1st read. Quinn was able to come off and find guys consistently. The turnovers are inexcusable but I think it’s something he can improve. Maybe.

  5. There was a lot of sad drunk aggies last night. I was walking to the west campus parking garage and this kid tried to scale a 15 foot drop from a ramp. Luckily a tree kind of broke his fall. He walked away as if he didn’t just fracture his tailbone. I had a conversation with an Aggie Band member who was walking alone with his trumpet, head all shaved. Excellent guy, but he was pretty beat up about the loss.

  6. I think the people blaming Quinn for all of our issues are dumb. Although he does appear to be one of the weaker links of the offense since October. Our offensive line can really take over games late. Our WRs create a lot of separation and run consistent routes. Our RBs lack mass, but they’re doing their best. The TE’s have been great all year. Quinn looks really banged up. He moves like an old man. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if he bounces back these next two weeks.

You guys are just waiting for anything negative to happen so you can pull out your keyboard. Lol. Glad you had your moment. I wish for everyone to have a good time.

No, we’re not. We’re all Longhorns. Why would we want to watch goofy ass QB play every Saturday? The dude moves like he’s 45. Velocity is non existent. The deep ball is hall of fame trash. His pocket presence was pretty good today, I was slightly encouraged.

  8. I may be wrong, but I don’t think we’re the kind of team who can afford to look over a Kentucky. They’ve competed well against comparable QBs and defensive fronts. We didn’t exactly light up the worst secondary in the P5 yesterday.

No dude. They’ve clearly got more knowledge about Arch than the guy that sees him in practice every day because of a couple games.

I don’t think anyone thinks Arch is objectively “better” than a three starter at QB. A better fit? Who knows. This offense is in dire need of a threat. Whether it’s a deep ball or a third down scramble. Offensive football is so dumbed down today that you just need a guy who can hit the open man. Hopefully Quinn can bounce back, he’s got some real tests the next couple weeks.

People are defending him because he's a good QB, and idiots on this forum are calling him a POS and a pussy. No he's not having the year we thought, but he's the best QB we've had since Colt McCoy, so STFU and let's see what happens.

“Let’s see what happens”. Even if it’s a first round exit? Fuck it. Im down for the ride.

It’s pretty funny to see the shift from Quinn is a sure fire first rounder and heisman finalist preseason to Quinn isn’t a problem because we’re 9-1 (due to our no. 1 defense) and Greg McIlroy won a championship! If before the season any poster had been on here saying Quinn is Greg McIlroy, I’d bet my left nut the same posters in here defending him so vehemently would have been saying what a stupid statement that is. The guy is a massive disappointment and people are justifiably frustrated.

And for the record, Quinn’s “good” 4Q  happened because the ball was taken out of his hands. He completed 4 passes. Two of those traveled more than 5 yards down the field (to be fair one that didn’t was the really good throw for a TD). That’s who we need to be the rest of the year.

There’s a lot of hurt Longhorns in this thread in serious denial. Quinn has always been an inconsistent player, but it’s just been egregious at times this season. I want to see him successful as much as anyone, but our offense is pedestrian. My old man chewed me out on the phone today, “I’ve been watching ball 35 years, this mother fucker is no good”. I don’t agree with that sentiment entirely, but I don’t think his assessment is far off.
