We're thinking about the rec for Lodge at The Presidio -- is that too far from the bridge for photo ops?

No, not at all. Presidio has some of the best views of the bridge, and the new Presidio tunnel tops has an incredible vista. You can walk down from them hotel and get coffee in the morning.

Also, Tiburon > Sausalito. Specifically, Mai Tai’s at Sam’s.

It doesn't look like it will be difficult to get reserved parking if I arrange it soon.

I'm wondering where we should spend the night of July 4th -- does SF have a big event, are there others out in the surrounding areas?  I'm thinking that Lodge at the Presidio would be a wise choice by that point.

Everyone goes to Tahoe or the wine country. And yes, as mentioned you can’t see the fireworks through the fog.

  3. Chinatown kinda sucks and is for tourists. It’s gotten better in the past few years. Z&Y, R&G during Dungeness season, Chong Qing Xiao Mian for noodles, Bund Cafe for soup dumplings, Capital for wings, Good Mong Kok for dim sum. Z&Y Peking Duck just opened and is great. Four Kings sounds like the hottest restaurant in town, but haven’t been yet. Casual spot from Mister Jiu’s people (which is one of the best restaurants in the city).

Best Asian is on the west side, mainly on Clement and Irving. Dragon Beaux, PPQ Dungeness, Good Luck Dim Sum, Burma Superstar and Mandalay (Burmese is huge here), Lily, Spices. San Tung on Irving is prob my biggest rec - famous for the wings. The Tenderloin arguably has just as good spots, but I don’t recommend venturing around there unless you’re a die hard pho fan (and then I have recs!).

  4. Back vintage Boudignon, imo.

Good friend of mine worked that harvest! Said it was an incredible experience working with those folks.

No problem with zin whatsover.  I like most varietals -- cab, pinot, whatever.  I'd like to buy a really good bottle or six to bring home.

Healdsburg is our favorite wine country town. I recommend Ridge nearby. Iconic Sonoma producer and great views of their Lytton Springs estate. If you want to do Napa, we usually stay in Calistoga. Yountville has gotten absurdly expensive. Chappellet is a great experience imo.

The Lodge looks good, $350/night.  If we based there but wanted to go into the city would it be better to Uber or drive our rental and pay for parking?

Uber for sure - or actually, Waymo. It’s all I take these days if I can. Waitlist is a few weeks. Parking is just a massive PITA here and you don’t need to deal with that on vacation.

Grab an espresso martini at Balboa, beers Monaghan's and Tipsy Pig in the Marina or Palmer's in Pac Heights. For cheap eats I like Super Duper Burger and Tacko.

Think the average age of this audience is above 24.

The Presidio is great to visit.

And best place to stay. The Lodge and the Inn are what we recommend for visitors.

Wait, it looks like Muir Woods has some big redwoods.  Is that a reasonable alternative to Redwood or Sequoia?  It's less of a drive.  (I don't MIND the drive necessarily, but it's nice to know any alternatives.)

Oh certainly, I was under the impression you wanted to use the Bay as a launching point for a road trip (which is a great idea, lots within three hours). Yes, Muir is an easy to just to drive up to some Redwoods. Are you a hiker? There’s a nice little hotel called the Mountain Home Inn nearby that’s a good base for Mt. Tam hiking. Can access parts of Muir without dealing with the tourists.

  10. West Marin County is great. Sounds like you are down for a long drive? Since it’s summer I’d drive up to Redwood and stop in Mendocino along the way.

The reality is, they are supporters of hummus. Something got lost in translation.

On a serious note, I really would a agnostic investigative reporter to ask females at these protests there impressions of Hamas and "Do you know their stance on women's rights? Do you know their stance on religious rights?".

I am willing to wager, based on various videos I've seen that if they are willing to answer it is not very accurate.

Doesn’t matter, it’s the omnicause, bruh.

That’s the same exact type of propaganda that the Islamic regime occupying Iran puts on murals and billboards in Tehran. Revolting to see that shit projected on a college campus in America. Khamenei and the rest of the thugs in his government are loving this shit.

IMO it’s really more of an example of how bizarre it is that some tiny ethnosectarian fight on the other side of the planet became the central issue of the progressive left. Noah Smith summed it my thoughts perfectly:

Best town in the wine country, imo.

Not sure if the video will load from here, so also posting an action pic of the Crawfish Bread. Not sure if you can get this anywhere but the festival (I’ve never found it outside the race track at JazzFest).

They’re back! They left the fest after 35 years last year because of the cashless system. Glad they returned, grew up with that stuff.

    From my personal stash.

You are a stronger man than I am. Have already gone through my ‘22s.

Alain Castex, imo. Local wine merchant found a few of these in the back and had to jump on it (‘18 Canta Mañana). Always hard to get and now impossible since he has died. His wines have always blown me away with their energy and this one has not failed. RIP to one of France’s greats, they don’t make them like this anymore.
