That really isn’t true about OU.  They’ve been in the playoffs three times.  Lost in double OT to UGA, lost by 11 to Alabama and were blown out by LSU.  They were only embarrassed once.

OU’s been in the playoff 4 times.  (1) Baker Mayfield Georgia semifinal was competitive.  The other three Oklahoma appearances were blowouts in which it never felt OU had a chance to win regardless of final score. (2) Your OU 11pt loss to Bama last season was something like 28-0 out of the gate- if you want to give props to OU for coming back in the second half, be my guest, but it sure looked to me like Bama took their foot off the gas.  (3) 2015- Clemson shuts out OU in 2nd half for 20 point win. (4)  I don’t think we even need to cover last Saturday against LSU.  Face it, the Big XII is the Houston Texans of college football.

  2. For whatever reason, the past decade has shown me that if you want to play championship competitive football you don't play in The Big XII so it would feel unrealistic to set expectations beyond conference success.  Like it or not, OU has almost solely carried this conference's flag and almost every time they reach the playoffs, they not only lose, but are embarrassed, and we never even reach their stage.  Kind of reminds me of The Big Ten last decade.  The thing that turned the Big Ten around?: An influx of elite coaching-- Meyer to Ohio State, Harbaugh to Michigan.  I wonder what, if anything, changes the narrative for the Big XII?  Perhaps nothing but the slow death it seems to have been dying for years.

I’m 35 and nothing in my lifetime leads me to believe UT would ever make an “Urban Meyer / Nick Saban type” hire.

I'm 43, and there's much truth to what you say, though there's a lot of evidence that UT was about to hire Saban before Mack mucked up the move on the way out.  Doesn't mean UT is right on this one though.  You simply can't tell me you're doing everything in your power to win if you pass on opportunities at hiring the most proven coaches in the biz on the chance that your current coach "might" one day reach their levels.

  4. There are two coaches for which I would fire anyone in the country if the chance exhibited to hire them and Urban Meyer is one of them.  And I really don’t have a problem with Herman, but the resumes of the two coaches I’m speaking of are that undeniable.
