Well, OP pretty much said it. Weāve got a solid month (3 games & a BYE week) that offers zero opportunity to measure and assess this teamās much needed progression after their week 1 performance, granted it was week 1ā¦..on the roadā¦.against a defending champion top ranked team. San Jose State, UTEP, & Sam Houston State are what they are so pretty much nothing can be gleamed by performances in those games. That next opportunity will come the first week of October at The Swamp. Itās easy, and appropriate, to consider that repeatedly weāve seen team quality week 1 to week 2 historically jump considerably. Itās also true that something was very wrong with the offense in The Shoe yesterday be that the shortcomings of a still inexperienced starting QB under enormous pressure, a coaching staff that stuck to a conservative game plan too long, or possibly even that our starting WR group has taken a step back compared to the heavily transfer portal-fed groups the past couple of years. There are a lot of possibilities to consider, but for now all we can do is wait for the SEC schedule. Right now I see a lot of possible futures on the table, and they are all over the map from outright disaster to early growing pains give way to true contender. But though we all like to opine, some quite strongly, none of us know a damn thing what to expect anymore than we did at 11am Saturday afternoon in Columbus. But these next few weeksā¦ā¦donāt get too high and donāt get too low.
