That’s one thing I don’t have a ton of concern about...has this team folded under Herman after getting down early?

its the only reason I hold out hope for Herman.  USC was nice but I'm still not sold on him after a complete faceplant against a shitty Maryland team.

we folded ALL the time with Charlie.

Herman has to keep Orlando though and I just want Orlando to work on having our defense jump a good team from the gun.

win 2 of the next 3 and I can see gettin back on the train.

aggy crammed 110k into kyle one year when they had only finished one side of their stadium.  We’re not going to get close to that record unless they fully bowl it in like the original plans (which would be stupid with declining attendance nationwide).

Now they might increase capacity to be bigger than aggy who reportedly has 2600 or more seats than our current setup but honestly I believe CDC when he says they haven’t really calculated it because we wouldn’t be adding anymore run of the mill basic seats.  The additional seats will all be club, platform, suite or party deck type seating and the basic bleacher seating will likely go down when they mess with the end zone bleacher and tie it in with sections 1 & 32.  If we simply wanted to have more seats than aggy we could, but that would serve no purpose other than having more than them for a time (until they re-stripe their seats again) and I’m glad our administration isn’t thinking like some of our dumbass mouth breather fans.

This project is mostly about functionality for our players/coaches, selling more premium seats/suites, and giving DKRTMS a much needed update from the bland looking end zone eyesore that is the student bleachers and thrown together LHN platform (not that the LHN platform was necessary but the current one is just visually awful).

I'm sure its been calculated but why put a number out there.  personally I wish they'd take 2 seats off the rows and widen single seat area.  I don't really care about holding the attendance record.

Maryland game very much still an issue.  we knew they would suck the rest of the way.  I'm cautiously optimistic because

    1. Maryland was at home, the players were emotional playing for their dead teammate and their interim head coach.  That emotion has worn off predictably and now they are the 4-8(5-7 because we failed to beat them) team everyone knew they were.

    2. the defense got better last year as it went on and I am hoping that Sam and OL just get better with each new game experience.

the downside is we have shown little consistency against running QB's and TCU has one.

This. No. 40 (McGrath) went down with no contact while in desperation pursuit from an awkward step on rhe turf. I feel bad for the guy since he was a non-factor on the play at that point and pretty much would be for the rest of the game anyway. Plus, he is a kicker, and the injury is a torn ACL on the leg he kicks with. It would be hard to find any player feeling worse than that guy after the game. Good luck to him.

it was weird because it happened almost simultaneously I thought the kicker was going "soccer guy" and trying to draw some kind of penalty initially.  yeah sucks for the guy.  I'd probably tell my kicker not to try to tackle a guy on a blocked field goal or XP.  the likely-hood of making a play is pretty much nil.  my son(WR) tore his ACL senior year in HS, 3rd game.  he wasn't playing college so it was a real kick in the nuts.

Siap but that USC kicker tore his ACL on that block return when Wheeler pushed him down

I'm not sure how much contact he even made but it looked like the step right before he threw his hand out was the one where the kicker tore it.

  7. I'm looking for continuous improvement from OL.  this is the key to getting back to where we used to be.  nothing else comes close.  with this type of defense, Sam and Shane are serviceable 10 win QB's with a running game and some decent protection. OL looked very good but I'm just now sure how good USC is at this point.

They can not put Sam in a position to make game changing mistakes in our own end.  still struggles with when to live another day, get rid of the ball.  needs work on climbing the pocket more.  Its there he just doesn't feel it.

Lets shelve the double pass/trick plays for now and get the ball to Johnson and LJH.

Anyone who thinks he led with the shoulder should run that video to the :12 mark and pause/unpause it one click at a time for slow motion.  It's very clear their heads collided before BJ's shoulder hit hit chest.  The argument about how else to make that tackle still stands, sometimes your  head just can't be put anywhere else.  Sometimes they're going to collide.  But if he makes that same hit "face up" instead of dropping his helmet at the last second he's playing the first half of TCU.  It's not about whether or not your helmet hit them, it's about what part of your helmet hit him.

    3 things

    1. if you lower your shoulder into a player your head will come down and you will get called for targeting if your helmet hits the other players helmet

    2. head "across the bow" at any point from top of the numbers above will likely result in targeting. you must target the middle of the numbers or below. defensive players will be vulnerable to neck stingers/head trauma much more by targeting low but this is nature of the game now.  shoulder injuries will be much more common.

    3. you can not "drive up" on a form tackle anymore or likelyhood is you will get targeting.  they want rugby style tackles.

  9. This is beautiful.  so glad the USC people got a taste of the hospitality of the awesome Texas Fans.  hopefully someone responds to this great USC fan and his son saying they should join the Big 12.
