Looking at the big picture, I could honestly see a Sweet 16 run. It's gonna be like K-State 2 years ago when they made the Elite 8. Fluke season for Bruce Weber...Shaka will do the same
No.no he won't. You haven't been watching

actually at the time the financial differences were not that great and no one was close to knowing where things were headed
for CU there was nothing financial about it at all it was all about wanting to be with PAC 10 schools and in my opinion wanting to be in a conference where just spending some money and putting some teams out there on the field was all it took to be a good member
with NU it was about the belief that they were going to be left on an island alone in the middle of nowhere if they did not make a move then
with aggy it was about find a new daddy because they were tired of Texas being their daddy and they wanted to have several daddies so they could ride on their success
with MU it was about realizing they had blown their chance at the Big 10 forever and they were probably going to be left out if the SEC SEC SEC did not fall in their lap
between the exit fees and the buy in NU did not become financially whole until 2018 at the earliest and that is excluding any 3rd tier revenues they would have earned in the Big 12 and if you count that they will probably break even this year (and yes cash in after that), but 10 years is a long time to have to make up that money
CU is probably in the hole $50 million on the move if not more
it was about teams wanting something different (CU or aggy a new daddy(s) )or not believing in themselves that they could carry a conference and be a builder instead of a taker so they when where they could be secure as a taker (NU, aggy, MU)
Curious at to how Colorado is "50 million dollars in the hole"

So are we better than last year but still not good?

As of right now there is only one available scholarship for Texas in 2020, and they're holding that for Greg Brown. If somebody transfers, more spots open up.
Thanks. I should pay more attention

PAC 16 is our future.
Texoma pod
Texas
Oklahoma
Texas Tech
Oklahoma State
Mountain West pod
Colorado
Arizona
Utah
Arizona State
California pod
USC
Stanford
UCLA
Cal
Northwest pod
Washington
Oregon
Washington State
Oregon State
9 regular season conference matchups in a 3+2+2+2 configuration.
The pod champions play in a 4 team playoff to determine the conference champion.
Of course the SEC, Big 10, and ACC would all need to also go to a 16 team conference with four, 4 team pods with the same conference champion playoff to make it work.
Then the four conference champions would of course have the 4 team playoff to determine the National Championship.
With 3 OCC games, 9 conference matchups, and the maximum of 4 playoff games you're still only looking at 16 games in a season which I believe is reasonable.
I believe this would be an ideal setup, and be freaking awesome!
The Pod concept has been beaten to death...fuck you and fuck your pods

Love it, but I have no idea why he wants out of Washington State so bad? Wasn't he close to leaving last offseason?
Ever been to the Palouse?

A few of you seem to be ok with the Mike McCarthy hiring. You are wrong.
Might as well put a 100 pound fat suit on Garrett and ran him out there, because that's what were getting.
A coach that doesn't use the tools that he has, makes horrible in game decisions, and doesn't know the rules of the NFL.
Mike McCarthy is a fat fucking retard.
There's another board that I frequent that is centered around gambling and is also full of pretty smart people. Lots of people on the board gamble for a living. Some on sports, some on poker, some on other things. To differentiate Mike from the other coaches named Mike in the NFL they called him "Fat Mike". There is a thread on the forum that discusses stupid decisions from coaches. The thread title is occasionally changed to whichever coach has done something stupid lately, but Fat Mike has been in the title for most of the last few years. Lets look back at some of the highlights.
In 2013 the nfl rule was if you throw the challenge flag on a play that is automatically reviewed such as a turnover or penalty then the play won't be reviewed and it's a 15 yard penalty. Less than two weeks after Jim Schwartz does this Fat Mike throws his challenge flag on a James Jones catch that got called a fumble. Our good friend Jordy Nelson picks up the flag and hands it back to Fat Mike before the refs see it
Managed to lose to Seattle in the playoffs through multiple stupid choices

How does Aaron Rodgers feel about the play calling in that game?

Doesn't understand Causation and Correlation
When asked why he kept running the ball with no success even though he had Aaron Rodgers:
"one statistic I had... 20 (rushing) attempts... 20 attempts is what I felt would be an important statistic for us in the 2nd HALF"
So the dumb fat fuck thought since his running back got 20 carries in a lot of wins, if he got him 20 carries it leads to wins, not that he usually gets 20 carries in wins due to running a lot when up.
What do packer fans think?
https://totalpackers.com/2017/02/mike-mccarthys-five-worst-coaching-traits/
Fuck Jerry Jones, this hire pretty much guarantees a few more years of no playoff success
I think we have a critic here

I hate posters that call the towns of other teams shitholes. But Baton Rouge is a shithole. And the university is in a shitty part of that shithole town. The stadium is nice and the area where the tiger chills is kinda cool, but I wouldn't plan on living it up in Red Stick. Come in for the game, hit up some tailgates and then get out--ideally without a disease.
We hate you back

Good analysis of Courtney Messingham's offense below.
(Ross Uglem) SPECIAL ANALYSIS: The Messingham PlaybookTo understand the Courtney Messingham offensive system that's coming to Kansas State, you have to travel back in time a bit. You see, NDSU's system isn't truly his. Not a whole lot changed when Tim Polasek left to coach Iowa's offensive line in 2017. Frankly not much changed when he took over NDSU's offense from Brent Vigen after Vigen followed Bohl to Wyoming.
North Dakota State hired Bob Babich to replace Rocky Hager when they were still in NCAA D2. The 1996 team was a heavy option run team, as QB Kevin Feeney led the team with 182 rushing attempts. Babich installed the Power I in '97 moving forward, and the NDSU pro-style offense was born. It evolved into more of a West Coast scheme when Bohl arrived and brought in Northwestern transfer Tony Stauss to usher NDSU into Division I.
Here is the program's glorious bread and butter: Power.
[/url]NDSU's offense is no longer "West Coast". The quick slants and short passing game, in general, are not a primary way of moving the ball down the field. North Dakota State now contracts the defense by slamming the ball down their throats with the run game, then when the safeties are up, they go over the top. NDSU quarterback Easton Stick, a legit pro prospect, has an AY/A of 10.9. That's kind of a silly number. When posed against Skylar Thompson's 6.7 and Alex Delton's 6.3 it looks even sillier. Stick is averaging nearly 16 yards per completion, and his Average Depth of Target has to be close to leading the FCS. They bomb the ball down the field.
Kansas State is really getting a continuously evolving version of the NDSU offense that started when Bohl arrived, not some system that Messingham brought with him from Iowa State and Montana State. Make no mistake, Coach Mess brought that offense to new heights, but the roots lie deep within Bison Football. Let's break down what Wildcat fans can expect from their new offense. I'll try to point out specific ideas and tendencies from Messingham when I can.
A-Gap Power
I'll start by saying there won't be a better explanation of NDSU's power scheme than the one done by USA Football's Noah Riley. The basic difference in the way that most teams run power and that way that NDSU does it is the shuffle pull from the pulling guard to keep his shoulders square to the hole. Usually, a pulling guard will open up and run square to the sideline executing a "kick out" block a defensive end or outside linebacker. Watch 64 shuffle his feet and lead 8 through the hole.
There are plenty of A Gap Power runs for three and four yards in the first quarter that turned into 60 and 70-yard gains in the second half because teams are simply worn down. It's a difficult play to defend down after down after down.
RB Vert / RB Wheel
This is the most famous concept from NDSU's scheme. Both because of just how lethal it is and because it's been co-opted by multiple NFL offenses. ESPN.com's Mike Sando profiled the concept. It first made it's an appearance in 2014, the first season Carson Wentz was the starter. It's a Tim Polasek idea that Messingham has tweaked and still uses with incredible efficiency. Here's the first example I could find of the route concept, though RB/FB Chase Morlock lined up as the tight end in this example.
It's usually to a running back out of the backfield though:
and often comes out of this formation. Some offenses will call this "Gun Trey", some an "inverted wishbone", and I believe NDSU refers to it as "Delta".
Messingham as found a couple different ways to utilize this route combo. He's stressed the seam as well as faking an inside run instead of a sweep. The play has been so successful over the years that fans recognize it when it starts to develop and usually rise to their feet.
Shotgun Run Game: Zone Read, Inside Zone and QB Power
This is certainly one that K-State fans will recognize. In fact, I would guess a lot of K-State fans would say they've seen a little too much zone read and inside zone. That's kind of how you end up with Alex Barnes, Skylar Thompson and Alex Delton accounting for 446 of K-State's 503 rushing attempts. Those 446 rushing attempts counted for 56% of every play Kansas State called. The Wildcats ran it almost 2x as much as they threw it. I'd care to say 85+% of those attempts were out of the gun. There are certainly shotgun run plays in NDSU's lexicon.
You can see a similar read of the backside end here between Delton and Barnes in the '18 Cactus Bowl. Frankly, this is probably one that Delton should've kept, but ultimately Barnes makes the play and gets the DE across his face anyway.
QB Power is always one to watch for from Messingham, specifically in the red zone.
Run-Pass Options
This will ultimately depend on how much trust is established between Messingham and his quarterbacks. RPOs (Run-Pass Options) are not something that belong in every offense, and contrary to popular belief they're not the same thing as play-action passes. They require a skilled QB that can process information quickly. I believe Skylar Thompson has every tool in the world to be that QB. We'll see. When executed correctly they're darn near indefensible. When executed poorly it's begging for disaster, specifically the ineligible men downfield type of disaster. Also turnovers. Those are a
North Dakota State's use of the run-pass option really increased during Stick's Junior and Senior seasons, both under QB coach Randy Hedberg (staying at NDSU) and Coach Mess.
"Smash" Route Concept
One of the Messingham specials is the "Smash" route concept. This ITP profile on the concept actually includes NDSU film. The basic concept is an outside receiver runs a stop route, either a hook or a curl, and a slot or tight end runs a corner or flag route.
It stresses C2 because the C2 Corner sits on the stop route and the C2 safety can't get to the sideline fast enough. It also works just fine against Man to Man and C4. Usually, against C3 the stop route is an easy pitch and catch.
Ultimately, expect there to be more under center looks, but for the run-pass ratio to remain similar. If K-State can continue to play excellent defense, Messingham/NDSU's run control/deep passing offense will use multiple personnel to confuse defenses and succeed at Kansas State. Expect mass skill position substitutions play in and play out and plenty of pre-snap motion.
Just wanted to quote this wall of horseshit

Or Harrell took less to stay at USC. Or even more likely, we had agreed to 1.5 and Herman pulled the offer when Harrell tried to pull the trigger.
Occam’s razor says Herman doesn’t have a fucking plan, or if he does he’s executing it to perfection and the plan is I’m The Smartest Man Alive.
In all fairness, Occam was kind of a dick
