Looking for some flight advice and this seems like the catch-all thread for this stuff.

Flying home from Sardinia in a couple of weeks. Flight booked on Aeroitalia from Olbia (OLB) to Rome (FCO) with a 3h55m layover at FCO before catching my next flight on AA from FCO to DFW (nonstop). Aeroitalia now emails me to say their flight schedule changed and will be 2.5 hours later, so my layover in Rome is now only 1h25m.

In my mind, that is not enough time to comfortably make the connection. We are not checking bags and there is no customs, but I would be switching airlines and the second flight is international, so that makes me nervous. Also, there is always the possibility of the Aeroitalia flight getting delayed on the day of travel, which wouldn't be a huge concern with a 3h55m layover, but could easily screw me on a 1h25m layover.

I contacted Aeroitalia and they don't give a shit. I asked for a refund so I could book a different flight and they said no. My ticket was nonrefundable and apparently EU regulations allow flight schedule changes of up to 3 hours before they are required to offer a refund, so they are within that limit.

I'm thinking my best bet is to eat the cost of the Aeroitalia flights (was about $400) and book new flights on a different airline. It kind of irritates me on principle, but I don't think I'll win that argument unless they happen to issue another delay that puts them over the 3 hour limit. I'm also thinking that 1h25m window is too narrow for comfort, but I've been burned on delayed flights quite a bit lately, so I'm probably a tad paranoid at this point.

What say the surly travel pros?

I am fairly certain there is passport control leaving FCO. Since you are on domestic into FCO, you will definitely be changing terminals, and it is a walk over to INTL. That is not enough time.

Flying is such a fucking beating these days. Based on recent experience, Delta has been better than the others I've flown, but how the fuck do they defend this shit?  Rolling a plane out in Vegas where the outside termp is 114, and then just let it bake out there for 2-3 hours. Who is the brainiac that figured that was the sensible playcall? I'm convinced at least 50% of airline employees are mentally handicapped, like a giant make-a-wish industry.  If I'm on an exit row, I'm giving serious thought to letting it rip.

Seems reasonable to open the exit door and nope out of there.

At least it's not literally a blast furnace.  Yet.

Did the A/C break? That is what I thought my house would do this past week after not having power for 50 hours.

I tried to get the wife to go to Colorado this morning. Even told her she could fly up there and I’d get pick her up in the car after driving up there with the kids. We could come back after July 4th. She asked me why and I said because the heat index is 129 on Wednesday and we should escape this insufferable state right now during what I hope will be the worst of it. She looked at me blankly like she couldn’t comprehend someone wanting to leave to escape the heat and said that’s what splashtown is for. She ain’t worried about no blast furnace.

Silliness. There is almost nothing better in the world than this after leaving Houston in June/July.IMG_3516.thumb.jpeg.49c08d84e1692444025e6268f11760eb.jpeg

127 heat index in corpus is insane

    with that humidity?

Considering heat index is calculated using Relative Humidity to get a heat index of 127 it’s kind of given that the humidity is piss.

    2) Good, EV charging should be occurring overnight.  Less stress on the grid.

Yup. Tesla app pushes you toward charging during off-peak times. I tell the app I want my car ready to go at 5:30 AM, and the vehicle starts charging around 3 AM.
