  1. We came in Thursday afternoon and hit the ferry at 8:15 am Monday, no wait either time.  Would never hit it on Friday or late Monday, amateurs.

Im newly transplanted back in austin, only drove to port a once before, last year. we drove straight in and took about 4 hours. we were told to skip the ferry last time. driving in tomorrow evening arriving around 7pm, leaving monday about 9am. ferry a good or bad option ?
  2. What kind of food are y’all looking for Friday? Places here have been ridiculously crowded all summer. Hopefully that’s over with now that we are past Labor Day.
Game watching options aren’t great here. Stingrays is the only good sports bar, but you will need to get there early to get a good table. They have a full menu but the food mostly sucks. Salty Dog has decent tv’s but no food. You can always order a pizza from Dominos though. The back bar at Bernie’s is ok too, multiple tv’s and their bar food is open till 8 or so.

Not gonna be picky given how crowded and/or closed everything is reported to be. Burgers, steaks, or seafood would be good.
  3. Thoughts on dollar cost averaging in relation to getting into the current market? If you were sitting on too much cash (independent of other lifetime 401k balances already in) would you invest in monthly increments over six months or a year, or go all now?

  4. Had to walk from north end down to gate 1 at 3:15 and the lines and congestion on west side were murder, especially with the blast furnace heat. Gate 1 was was oddly easy. Row 51 was in the sweet sweet shade, could not have done it otherwise. Easy access to that SW party deck made getting drinks a breeze.

  5. It's also mind blowing that housing is not a right in a country that can't be bothered with the aesthetics of homelessness.

Look, I am sympathetic to people experiencing homelessness, but if you or anyone thinks what was/is happening in austin or is continuing to happen in cities like Seattle and SFOs is any kind of solution, then my mind is double blown.

  6. Sure but the narrative was typically always coming from the eyes of the B10, who always had equal revenue sharing across the board.  For a long time, they even pooled and shared some portion of stadium revenues.  Talk about Robin Hood.  I don't know if they still do that or not, but the point is, that's where the opposing viewpoint was coming from.  And the B12 was certainly not egalitarian compared to the B10.
But all of that is beside the point, because even within the NON-egalitarian system the B12 had, the ags were voting right alongside Texas to keep it that way.  And beyond that, when Colorado and Nebraska bolted, the B12 offered extra shares of exit penalty money to Texas, OU, and A&M, to keep them happy.  Two of those three declined, but the ags gleefully accepted, even as they were already planning their exit to the SEC.
The author's statement "UT’s continued push for greater shares of Big 12 revenue led to the divorce" is factually incorrect, and reeks of lazy, stupid writing.  A&M left for many reasons, but this was not one of them.  Not even the ags claimed this at the time, because they knew exactly how they had voted in each and every B12 meeting on the subject.

Are there any articles / links on this? I recall all this in the real time old days, but these days I’m surrounded by aggy and sand aggy revisionist historians and want to share something published.
  7. Gary Clark, Jr. tomorrow night at the new Moody Amphitheater.  He's always great live, but want to hang in the way, way back for breeze/covid purposes.  Plus I really just want to see the new venue and hear how it sounds.

    Exact same, but Saturday
  8. Oh fuck off. I was just responding to some dumbass who was telling me to respect my elders because he saw his first Phish show a month before I saw mine.

Actually, the “elder” comment was in jest for you for trying to prove yourself as the surly phish savant by posting a ticket stub a few months before my first show. You suck and have killed this thread. I suggest wearing underwear that is not so tight.

  9. LOL. What’s that supposed to mean? That Phish got to your neck of the woods a month before they got to mine that spring tour? If you want to compete over Phish 1.0 bona fides, we can go. What was your 5th show? Your 10th? Your 20th, 30th, 40th, or 50th? And be prepared to show your stubs because I can do that. Regardless of the outcome, it doesn’t change the fact that Phish 4.0 isn’t a thing. So what’s your point?
I should’ve seen them at the Newport in ‘91 and ‘92 but I was late to the party. I regret that. But I was more focused on seeing the Dead where every tour I saw more Phish bumper stickers on cars than I did the year before.
Speaking of the Dead, my first show was 7/6/87.  When was yours, sonny boy?

It means I laugh at your pompous omnipotent tone.

  10. Is it the window unit leaking (faulty window) or is it leaking at the rough opening (installation)?
    Replacement window or original window?
Is window rough opening in brick, stone, stucco or siding?
Is the window leaking at top (header) or bottom of rough opening?
    Pics of leaking windows?

Both the top and bottom. They were replacements about 5 years ago, but two owners ago so we are not sure who installed them. They are Kolbe and we just had someone that sells them come by. The “gasket” on the bottom one was jacked and was an easy fix, although they said the casing was warped and they could probably get a free replacement window and pay them to install. The top window leaks on the bottom left (when looking out) when it rains real hard. The guy said it looked like they used a vertical window and hung horizontally based on where the Kolbe logo is. That was a surprise as I assume glass could go either way. If that’s case it would seem a warranty would cover but we don’t know how to find out. The guy is doing some research and we’ve yet to hear the verdict. This sucks.
