Lagway did not have surgery, and has no plans to have surgery. Surgery was an option considered for his shoulder and he chose to go the rehab route. Jesus fucking Christ.

I try not to clown on people because we all say some dumb shit sometimes but if you even spent 30 seconds googling "Lagway surgery" you would see a bunch of articles from the last week and a half talking about him exploring surgery so he can be ready in time for the season.

Whoa, you mean your post #8716 in this thread broke the news to everyone that one of college football’s top young QB’s had shoulder surgery, and no one outside the immediate Gator Football “family” knows about it? Damn.

Edited to add I’m not being sarcastic, but if true, that’s a big story. Sucks for Lagway and the talkative girlfriend of the backup, she’ll catch hell.

I mean I have no idea what the surgery was. I have no idea when the surgery was (he was dressed out and handed the ball off several times in their spring game). It could have been an outpatient exploratory surgery to assess the extent of the damage. I would say it's also possible she confused "had surgery" with "going to have surgery". I'm not claiming to be an insider or anything lol. Outside of that single interaction, I don't know shit about Gator football. She made it seem like it was a big deal when she spoke it out loud. It seemed relevant based on the first post I responded to.

Oof, didn't even know he had a surgery.  They may definitely be cooked now.

no one was supposed to know it happened. My extended family are all Gator fans and we were at their spring game this year. The backup QBs girlfriend was in the box with us during the game and let it slip. She realized she fucked up and asked us not to say anything but fuck that. I don't think Lagway is going to survive long this season and while the backup is a great kid off the field, it's going to be a long season for that team if he has any meaningful playing time.

Lagway has spent all spring recovering from a shoulder injury.  He may be cooked by the time we play him.  We will see.

I don't think it's been talked about by anyone but he got surgery recently. To keep up the charade he played 5-6 snaps in the spring game and every one was a hand off

edit: looks like they're soft launching the surgery idea even though it's already happened: https://www.essentiallysports.com/ncaa-college-football-news-dj-lagways-injury-saga-takes-new-turn-as-potential-surgery-confirmed-adding-to-billy-napiers-florida-woes/

The opposite of this is going to happen (and/or has already happened), the fact that you think this is going to happen means you are truly completely disconnected from reality. This is why the ruling is disruptive, even to Texas. There were decisions made regarding how things were going to work based on the university being able to provide the $$ as defined in the original settlement. This horseshit decision that makes no fucking sense whatsoever effectively makes NIL from a university completely ridiculous and more like a baseline salary that can be divvied up like the stipend was. NIL isn't a fucking stipend and it's not assistance, there is a quid pro quo exchange that has nothing to do with "just doing your sport".

They weren't gonna sign these players to big ass fucking NIL deals and then not have them do a bunch of brand work, that's not how businesses operate and that's not how the AD was planning to operate. The AD can farm out all kinds of Arch Manning the QB of the Longhorns to whatever sponsor or big ass media outlet it wants to in turn drive businesses, sponsorships, real revenue for all it's various streams and/or participants in the brand pool.

This ignores that entirely and treats it like scholarship++. It's completely wrong because it's not PAY FOR PLAY, it's NAME IMAGE AND LIKENESS, if it was pay for play then sure they could claim title IX.

Instead of just moving on and letting things get to a new normal, this rulling effectively restarts everything - there's no tenable way forward for the NCAA to operate with this level of stupidity and the amount of money it is taking to field competitive D1 high revenue sports teams.

If there is real thought that the next administration is going to roll back these changes then why does this change what the university is planning to do? Wouldn't it make sense to slowplay stuff while clarity emerges?

With all of Sark’s connections there, how did we end up taking so many Bama busts that are clearly not culture fits?

fwiw my cousin is a coach at a d2 school up in Connecticut. I was talking with him about the philosophy of taking transfers that are not culture fits and his answer wasn't surprising to me. First, everyone knows what they are getting themselves into when they approach someone who isn't a culture fit. There are no surprises at all. Second every staff has their own risk tolerance. You weigh the potential upside against the potential issues they bring. You don't want to overload any one position coach or side of the ball with culture problems.

Sark and his staff made a bet on the potential payoff. If they bust, they bust. If they leave without making everything worse then you've only lost the money it cost to bring them in.

I’m not going back through all this, but if it hasn’t been said yet, Ryan Day looks silly af with that dyed beard.

it hasn't been said yet, but it's exactly the kind of hard-hitting analysis that's needed around here. He's not doing it for you or I, he's trying to relate to all of the little kids if you know what I mean

Need some help from the ball knowers in here. Is this an RPO? The way the OL doesn't fire off the ball it makes me think there might be an option for Ewers to pull it and throw? Am I wrong there? Not criticizing anyone if so, just genuinely curious. I finally found a few minutes to sit down and start looking through the ASU game.

based on the receivers running actual routes I would think it is. It also appears as if wisner misses the hole on the left side if he is just a tad more patient. My guess is he see's the linebacker and decides he doesn't trust the left guard getting to his assignment. 52 even gets upfield and picks up the middle LB too. He hits that hole on the left and it's 8 yards easy.

Quinn threw an interception but he should have never been in that position. Why the fuck did Sark call a long pass when it should have been intercepted earlier in the game. Sark has killed the clock several times this year but all of a sudden his ego can't take that his QB wss called second best!

Quinn could have thrown any of the other three routes but he made that choice. He threw into double coverage far too often. He was pressing

Some Netflix series the production company that does “Drive to Survive” and “Full Swing” is doing. Could be good, but I get why we opted out

    https://www.netflix.com/tudum/articles/southeastern-conference-sec-doc-series-release-date-news

Mercedes and Ferrari both opted out in the first season of "Drive to Survive" not wanting the distraction. When the show became a smash hit they changed their tune for the marketing exposure. I don't know what we would stand to gain from a brand exposure perspective here in the US. Best decision was to remove the distraction

I am worried about Clemson using the Georgia QB run gameplan against us because of how we played it and it working.

There is a difference between playing against an offense to which you have no film on while making shit up on the fly, and being ready for a QB run-heavy offense. Mobile QBs haven't had any real success against this defense.

Quinn could be the difference in a school like Auburn winning 9-10 games next year vs winning 5-6. Oregon, Ohio State, USC and a bunch of SEC teams may be looking for a QB

It won't be talked about on Texas sites, for good reason. We have a playoff to prepare for and Ewers is the starting QB. Even if Sark decided to roll with Manning for the playoff you don't want to let Clemson know that.

Any smoke concerning Ewers movement is likely to come from other fanbases

This doesn't sound like there is any uncertainty about Quinns future...
