Manafort is a brave man according to DOTUS

you can already see the pardon narrative developing.  He is in a tight spot though, because he's got to get this narrative built and pardon executed quickly, before next months trial, which is most definitely all about COLLUSION.

What might make more sense is that all Cohen stuff is probably going to be venued somewhere in NY, while Mueller seems quite busy in DC and Va.  Maybe he didn't want to fuck with it in NY.

I think Mueller correctly strategized that opening a different front that was not subject to attack as springing from his WITCH HUNT was probably a smart move, and that move is looking quite prescient now.

Not a legal expert (obviously) but the concerns upthread about the jury having Trumpkins or Trump-haters is why I think he'll be guilty on some counts and not guilty on others. With the verdict on each count having to be unanimous that leads to a bargaining situation in the jury deliberation, I would think. I see almost no way he's guilty on everything or not guilty on everything.

I think its very possible he will be guilty on all counts, given the jury's question.

  4. You didnt build that was only stupid for phrasing it in a way that allowed the billions of pundits that now infest this planet to so easily and mindlessly take it completely out of context.

There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me – because they want to give something back. They know they didn't – look, if you've been successful, you didn't get there on your own. You didn't get there on your own. I'm always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something – there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there. (Applause.)

If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you've got a business – you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn't get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.

The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together. There are some things, just like fighting fires, we don't do on our own. I mean, imagine if everybody had their own fire service. That would be a hard way to organize fighting fires

no guarantees at all in jury trials. they’ll oftentimes come up with shit you never thought of and wasn’t introduced into evidence.

the craziest, most unpredictable shit happens in jury rooms.

Yes you can rest assured the most the majority of the jury knows right now is that there is a sense someone did something wrong here and there a bunch of documents (some faked) and slime balls in the courtroom

  6. judge Folsom in Texarkana and judge Davis in Tyler were so good at this. I mean they’d go ape shit when they had to but did not insert themselves into the action otherwise. I am guessing they both wish they stayed on the bench at this point.

You're telling me that a 78 year old federal judge is an old fucking cranky asshole who thinks he is god's gift to the legal profession and is a complete fucking dick to the lawyers that appear in front of him? No fucking way.

My sentiments exactly. This behavior is totally normal, and that’s not a good thing.

Seems like there would be some political consequences if this were a democrat.

Lets not play the victims too much here.  Trump & Co are getting ground into dust on a daily basis, and rightfully so, by most sane media outlets.  It remains to be seen if there will be political consequences, but I am guessing this is at least not helping things.

Okay, last post in this thread for a while.   Before this thread turned into a demonstration of how little I know about how imgur fucks up posts here the original intent of this thread was to show how progressives react when anyone votes for any candidate other than the one progressives support.  How dare people vote their conscious and not yours.

It is the political party's duty to put forth the superior candidate.  It is not the voters' duty to vote for a candidate they consider to be inferior to another candidate whether that candidate has a "chance" to win or not.  You can't bitch and moan about how limiting the two party system is and then bitch and moan about people voting for third party candidates.  The idea is to vote for who you consider to be the best candidate for the job, not to vote to keep who you consider to be the worst candidate for the job from winning.  If Green Party voters would rather vote for a member of the Green Party than for a Democrat then it is on the Democrats to come up with a candidate that will sway more Green Party voters (while preferably also swaying as many Democrat, Republican, Independent, Libertarian and any other party of voters as possible too).  It is not on the voters to compromise their beliefs or positions just because not doing so is going to upset other voters.

    Stick to imgur.

By most accounts, Ellis gives attorneys before him complete hell.  One might think there would be as much hell for the defense attorneys, but it hasn't been reported, but I'm not sure that means much.  I wouldn't put too much stock in it.

I dont think he's accused the defense attorney of crying yet.  That is such fucking petty bullshit.  And there is no way the guy was crying because (1) he's an experienced federal prosecutor and (2) his evidence was coming in beautifully at that point.

  12. I have diagnosed Judge Ellis with Old Male Federal Judge Syndrome, which is endemic in the species for which it is named and its primary symptom includes inserting yourself into the game when you are supposed to be acting as a referee, and it is caused by the general assumption you know everything.  It would not surprise me in the least if the remark was in front of the jury.

We’re still waiting on you to back up your post there has been anything approaching reciprocity on the intentional lying we have seen from the admin by the press. Or are you going to go with EMAWs shitty fucking evidence?

I guess the only feedback I’ll get here is some neg repnfrom slorch. I rest my case.
