  1. Peggy Sue's is no cattleack or PL, but way better than Dickey's roast beef or sommy Bryan's. We got the big sampler plate that came with a bit of everything and thought it was decent. It wouldn't be my first choice, but was decent enough.

Peggy Sue's would be fun. Y'all could check out SMU and Snider Plaza if he's never been in that neck of the woods - much cooler location than the access road of 75 in Richardson.

Yes, you won't have many options on a Monday night. You could take him to the Smokey Rose but they're trying to be a whole lot more than just BBQ. If you go with the flow, it's a cool spot. Some people just abhor it. And it's too cold to sit outside -- at least for this Texan.

Ferris Wheeler's has terrific ribs -- at least the last time I was there it did. The 'cue is pretty solid but the service on the weekends is abysmal, at least on the back patio. But it's a good spot. I wanted to love Slow Bone as I think the world of Jack Perkins. It's definitely good but the meat had too much smoke the times I went IMO. He's no longer involved and I've only been back once since Jack sold it. Another idea is Peggy Sue's in Snider Plaza. They've totally revamped the place and the food (former Pecan Lodge assistant pitmaster moved there) is much improved over what it was like previously. @mdleast will back me up on this as he went recently. You could always also go to the original Sonny Bryan's on Inwood. Food is OK but it's not a bad place to check off the list. Do NOT go to that Babb Brother's abortion over in Trinity Groves. Just fucking terrible.

Thanks.  I'm kinda feeling something different, Peggy Sue's feels like it may be a good choice.

Well, you couldn't be much closer to Callleack and that's by far the best so if you're will to repeat, go there.  If not, maybe try Slow Bone.  It's only about 15 minutes from there and seems like the next logical choice that isn't on his list.  I'd guess it's better than Ferris Wheeler's and similarly located.  I haven't been to Ferris Wheeler's but @C-Man can probably weigh in with authority.

I'd definitely repeat Cattelack, but he's leaving Wednesday. I was looking for something for tonight.

Ten50 is pretty good imo and prob 10 mins from the Galleria.

Get some of the brisket torpedoes if you go. They are sinful.

Yep Ten50 is a solid rec

Thanks.  I've taken him there before too and it's always solid.  Will probably stick with that.  Just making sure there wasn't something else we're missing out on.

  6. Does anyone have a recommendation on where to go tonight?  I've got a a friend in from England who has requested bbq.  He's spoiled to the fact that he's been to Cattleack, Lockhart, and PL on previous trips.  I would rank those as my top 3 that I've had in the metroplex (besides maybe Hutchins).  Any recommendations for a new place we should try?  I was thinking Ferris Wheeler's, but not sure as I haven't seen too many reviews.  He's staying in the galleria area if that helps. It looks like I can get 400mbps down from Spectrum for $45 per month for the first 12 months.  I can't find what the upload speed is.  Their site doesn't say what it goes up to after 12 months.  They also want a $50 installation fee but they don't charge for their modem.  I am going to see if Frontier will match that price since their upload speed is the same as the download speed.

I'm on spectrum too.  While the modem is free, that's without wireless.  They charge like $10 for the wireless modem.  I went ahead and just bought my own with them.

  8. What made you schedule this torture at 29? Er, why did anyone think they needed to dig around in there to discover the polyps?
I was having shart issues more often than I should have been. My dr ordered one as a precaution. Plus there is some family history of colon cancer.
  9. There's an older guy with a couple of cougar looking women sitting next to me.

Guy to one of the women: you can't leave yet.

Her: I need to get home

Him: you have someone to have sex with at home?

    Her: nope, no one.

Him: what about Bob, the battery operated boyfriend.

  10. Thank you everyone for your kind words.  She passed Sunday evening peacefully at home.  In true Mom fashion, she seemed to wait until a moment when my sister, step-dad, and I had left the room.  Up until that point, someone had been beside her holding her hand 24/7.  For some reason or another, the 3 of us stepped out of the room for a split second, and that's when the hospice nurse hollered for us to come back into the room.

It's been a tough few days, but I'm at comfort knowing she's now at peace and she did not suffer very long from this awful disease.  My step-dad is having a tough go at it and is trying to adjust to an empty house after 22 years of marriage, so I've kind of had to step-up with the planning.  I hope that we've created a beautiful service and will celebrate her life tomorrow afternoon.

  11. I did a few things with it before, but not worth the time. You have to meet certain qualifications to do jobs and most just pay pennies. I think I lucked out and did a survey that paid $2.00 for 5 minutes of my time.

  12. Just wanted to share an update as I need a place to vent. Found out just a week ago that the cancer most likely originated in her colon and aggressively spread to her lung and bones. Chemo/radiation would only give her a few additional months, so she chose to go home on hospice care. I've watched my mom fade away into a vegetative state in the matter of days. I'm currently by her side holding her hand. This is just a reminder that life is precious and short and sometimes defintely not fair. She raised me to be a Longhorn, and even through thos shes a fighter. Let's see the boys win one for her today.
