Playland, owned by the guy who owns Rebelle and Battalion, just opened last week downtown. Pretty solid pizza with interesting toppings. Along with the pizza, I also liked the General Tso's wings. Definitely recommend

Danny Manning is the current coach at Wake, was this an assistant that moved up with him when he got the job, or came into the program later..?
He came in later. First year with WF was last year.

Good to see yet another tank of gasoline being poured on a complete dumpster fire of a program.

Didn’t realize he was such a huge Golden Knights fan.

Would be a great hire if true.

Yes but it's the Big 10 so that doesn't mean much.

So I guess TCU would elevate Kirk Saarloos to head coach?
Either him or Heefner from Dallas Baptist.

If you think the meat used at the higher end Tex mex places (pappasitos, Lupe etc) are the same, I don’t know what to tell you. Are you saying they just suck ass with that cut of meat or are the latter using a different product?
Your taco truck and those restaurants ain’t serving the same skirt steak just cooked differently. Shit. Does Taco Bell use the same meat in this universe?
I’ve always heard the higher end places use outside skirt steak while the cheaper places use inside skirt steak. Inside skirt is cheaper, flatter and has more connective tissue which makes it more chewy.

Balmorrhea is pronounced Bal-mor-ray btw.

Bad Pharma by Ben Goldacre and Anatomy of an Epidemic by Robert Whitaker are two great books that highlight this issue

I can't stand this noise. It makes me ragey when a waiter hard pours my water like this.

Puerto Vallarta is a totally different animal than Cancun. You have 0 worries I believe. So many expats and "white" owned businesses in old Town. You will be fine. Are you gonna stay in PV or NV? Nueva Vallarta is even safer but not as fun. Enjoy the Malecon and I recommend even going further south to Playa Convhas Chinas. You will have a great time
I wouldn't say that. This happened at the restaurant right next to my hotel last time I went there. Hell I walked by this restaurant 30 minutes before this happened.

Also when I was there, I got this phone call saying my credit card number had been stolen. The woman on the line even knew what bank I used. She asked for my social so I immediately hung up and called Chase. Of course it was fake. Once I got home, I cancelled and got a new card for piece of mind which was a huge pain in the ass to switch all my online accounts to my new cc number. It was the same cc I used to book the hotel so I'm pretty sure some asshole hotel worker did something with it. This was a "5-star" hotel by the way.
Fuck that shithole. Never going there again

Call me crazy but I don’t think flyover country would get behind a black chick from California with an Islamic sounding first name.
Could be wrong though! -
Lol at anybody from Fresno State being the “face” of anything academia

If hannity slit his wrists tonight in a bathtub, would anyone feel sad? Would even his own kids mourn?

His kid actually plays tennis for Wake. Interestingly, his kid lists his name as “Sean Patrick” instead of his real name “Sean Patrick Hannity.” If my kid literally had to change his name because of my rhetoric, I’d take serious consideration into toning down my rhetoric. Guess not him though.

Other than this site (or its unnamed predecessor), where do you go for new music recommendations and reviews? I swing by metacritic, but it’s too eclectic in terms of music genres (not sure why, but hard core bands and world music seem to universally compile better scores than every other type of music). Avclub used to be a good source but they are off their game in terms of new music reviews.
Tiny Mixtapes, Pitchfork.
Sometimes I use sputnikmusic as well but that site heavily favors metal.

It always amazes me how this guy went to Harvard undergrad, Yale law and got a PhD from Oxford yet he sounds like a dude from infowars

Matua Valley makes a pretty good Sauvignon Blanc. Usually $11-12. Wine Spectator gave it a 90. It can be found at most HEBs and Targets

I’m willing to listen, so help me out. If Trump is Putin’s guy...and Russia wanted Trump over Hillary, why did Trump bomb Syria? I don’t understand.
You're making the assumption that Hillary would've done less in Syria which I don't think is true given her hawkishness.
https://www.nytimes.com/2016/04/24/magazine/how-hillary-clinton-became-a-hawk.html
QuoteThat fundamental tension between Clinton and the president would continue to be a defining feature of her four-year tenure as secretary of state. In the administration’s first high-level meeting on Russia in February 2009, aides to Obama proposed that the United States make some symbolic concessions to Russia as a gesture of its good will in resetting the relationship. Clinton, the last to speak, brusquely rejected the idea, saying, “I’m not giving up anything for nothing.” Her hardheadedness made an impression on Robert Gates, the defense secretary and George W. Bush holdover who was wary of a changed Russia. He decided there and then that she was someone he could do business with.

Recently read The Romanovs by Simon Montefiore. First half was Game of Throne-ish aka lots of orgies and slaughtering. Second half was like watching a trainwreck in slow motion. One critique I have is I wish the author focused less on the tsar's sex lives and more on their policies and how they influenced Russia. Spoiler alert: most of them were nymphomaniacs, got repetitive after a while. Still recommend the book.
Reading The Evangelicals by Francis Fitzgerald now. Liking it so far.

He has a pretty nasty feud with his family. Seems like a scum bag.

Mammoth Cave National Park was awesome too, but you need to get there before 4 to get on a cave tour.
Very important to note that Mammoth Cave is in CST while Louisville and Lexington are in EST.

The Canadian province of Alberta has a rat population of virtually zero due to a highly aggressive rat extinguishing campaign launched by their provincial government. Apparently it's a big news story if somebody finds a rat in Alberta.
