  1. Hilton Canopy is the newest hotel on the Riverwalk. Just opened in April.  Really enjoy their outdoor bar area. Also you're right next to the Majestic, Esquire Tavern and Hugman's Oasis so it's a great location.

  2. Kellen Mond diagnosed with COVID. He wasn't vaccinated nor were Cousins or Nate Stanley so the Vikings will be without a QB starting training camp. What's even more stupid about this is Cousins visited a hospital last month and visited patients according to his instagram (https://www.instagram.com/p/CQSJEbGBT0u/). The stupidity of all this is mind boggling. I understand NFL player's were never supposed to be the brightest bulbs but I'd think QB's would at least have some semblance of intelligence.

Same song, verse # 436,894.  Watch the short video about the Missouri hospital that is attached to this article. Upshot: Missouri man and his wife didn't want to get the vaccine because of the unknowns. Now he's been in the hospital for three weeks in the ICU, struggling for breath.  He and his wife have changed their minds about the vaccine.  They interview him and, in between gasps, he says he would get the vaccine on account of how he has suffered.  Then he utters the operative phrase: "We're a strong conservative family ..."  As if somehow being anti-vaccine/anti-science is a conservative tenet or value.

I mean, even conservatives are telling them to get the vaccine. And TRUMP himself got it as quickly as he could.   And this couple clearly has co-morbidities and they're raising an overweight son who will weigh 300 .lbs by the time he's 30.

It just goes on and on with these assholes.

It's really annoying how many articles classify somebody as "having no pre-existing conditions" then they show them and they're clearly obese.

Most comorbidity indexes have obesity as a factor for a reason.

Pizza recs? My favorites in town are Miss Ellie’s, Capo’s, and Fralos. Haven’t tried Dough yet.

Napoletana: Dough, Braza Brava, Il Forno

    NY Style: Florio's, Poppy's, Julian's

Parents liked Pizzeria Vesuvio in Southtown but I haven't been.

  5. Best Quality Daughter is great. It's where The Granary used be in the Pearl. Chef is the original chef of Hot Joy when it was named the 7th best new restaurant in the US by Bon Appetit magazine. Loved the crab curry fried rice.

Also Hugman's Oasis is a new legit tiki bar on the Riverwalk. Problem with the place is it's tiny. Went Sunday in the afternoon right when it opened and it filled pretty quick.

So proud of Texas.  Roughly #36 out of 50 states in vaccine penetration.  I'm beaming.

What's funny is Texas's vaccine penetration rate is boosted by the wealthy Mexican nationals who come there for their shot. They'd probably be bottom 10 otherwise.

  7. we planned a weekend trip for SA for this weekend and it appears it's going to be a complete wash out.  what is there to do indoors with 4 kids ten yrs old and under?  we're staying at the contessa on the river walk.  have been to the alamo several times with them already so it's not high on the list but if we run out of things to do it's always an enjoyable time for me.  so far we have....

    doseum
    witte
historic market square (there's an indoor part too i believe?)
    san fernando
    river center mall

    anything else?

also any restaurant recs?  i haven't decided on anything but shilo's, biga, the colonial room, guenther house are all on the list.  going to wing it and see what we have a hankering for as mealtime approaches.

There’s always all the ripley stuff across from the Alamo. Also SA has some indoor kart racing places and at least one trampoline park. None of them are close to downtown though. Btw rivercenter mall has a legoland discovery place that can fill up quickly on weekends. There’s also the aquarium on Bandera.

For food downtown I think playland pizza would be appropriate for kids that age. It’s just upscale pizza and wings.

How long should I go without posting NY Post articles? Should I just wait as long as posters here did before posting MSM outlet scoops again following Trump “bombshells” that weren’t true?

Are there liberal periodicals where the author resigns after being forced to write a slanted article they didn't want to publish in the first place? If so, feel free to reveal them.

You understand there's a big difference between a publication getting a story wrong and a publication publishing a story they knew before publishing was wrong, or at least had serious doubts of, as in the case of this NY Post story, right?

  9. The person who wrote the article for the NY Post is resigning because she was apparently forced to write the article despite her misgivings. Guarantee @GRHorn will keep on reading and posting articles from NY Post despite the obvious evidence NY Post is essentially a GOP Pravda.

  10. I'm shocked that all the GOP governors have agreed to pause the J&J vaccine. You'd think this would be the perfect opportunity to play the "Big Government Sucks" card and keep on giving the J&J vaccine which would lead to increased moderate support. Especially surprised Desantis is pausing it even though he's largely ignored the CDC's mask and capacity recommendations, is a bonafide 2024 presidential candidate and he himself has received the J&J vaccine in March with no side effects.  I don't believe in the "Big Government Sucks" mantra at all but don't blame anyone for believing it after this disaster.

Glad to see justly was so swiftly delivered in this case  Too bad the poor victim (or a bystander) could not carry a firearm to defend themselves or others in that shithole that is DC.  Would have been nice to rid society of these two menaces.
