Arabs killed a lot of Arab people.

The point the speaker is trying to make is that the criticism is much more strident when it's convenient to criticize Israel for perceived inhumanity, but conveniently quiet when it comes to criticizing any other country. Even when the numbers are orders of magnitude larger. What point do you think he was trying to make?

How many of those other countries does the United States directly supply with arms and munitions and deploy B-2's on their enemies when they ask us nicely?

I guess to be fair, we have to admit that people that come to commissioner's court meetings and rant on things of general interest are complete political perverts.

Not necessarily representative of the people of Kerr County.

Sure, but the hope is that elected officials humor, but ultimately ignore, them and make decisions in the best interest of all their constituents.

But the GOP--even at the grassroots level--is now in the business of creating more crazy political ranters because they're incredibly easy to manipulate for votes...so long as you indulge their insane conspiracy theories with your voting record. Which seems to be what happened here. Crazies are the base now, and we're going to get more and more people killed trying to appease them. The monster is too big now.

    That was heartbreaking

Yeah it was. Fuck. Even with water against the sliding glass door of what's essentially their 2nd story and coming up through the floor of their pillared house, it clearly didn't dawn on them that they were minutes away from swimming. Otherwise, they obviously would have assigned one of the men to each of the kids, just in case. But how can you possibly begin to grasp that your house will be floating soon in real time?

  4. No one gave Steph any grief when he first stepped into the league because he was just the fun, baby-faced skinny dude who could really shoot and who might make a few All-Star games. As soon as he started winning MVPs and a title, threatened the status quo, and took away other players' shine, that very much changed. Then, he was the rich, soft, light-skinned, ex-player's kid who never struggled a day in his life (laughable when discussing a 5'6" high school sophomore with serious NBA aspirations), who was attracting casual, predominantly white fans to the league. There was absolutely resentment from the cool kids club, namely LeBron and CP3. Klay caught some of it too for many of the same reasons. Steph didn't truly shake it until 2022.

Obviously, it's much more pronounced in CC's case, but expecting established players to just accept and embrace the outsider who's not "like them" because it makes the entire league more popular isn't a natural human reaction.

I don't understand the statement that Johnny lying about getting paid for signing all that merch "forced" college sports to recognize the players.

Curious what was the byproduct of his lies, heck Sumlin begging not to have Johnny kicked out of school after his freshman year when he was a no one, or the Ags basically letting Johnny enroll in school but never go to class.

None of that was new and Spike Dykes basically did the last one if I recall with Hanspard and Thomas.

What I remember forcing the hand of the powers that be were things like the Northwestern players attempting to unionize or the judgement in the O'Bannon lawsuit, but feel free to correct me where I am wrong.

If memory serves, EA preemptively pulled the plug on NCAA 2015 in September 2013, a full year before the O'Bannon ruling came down. At the time, Johnny's shameless post-Heisman self-promotion party, questionable dealings and travel budget, and the Manziel family trying to trademark anything they could were all over the sporting news. If the NIL tea leaves weren't already obvious by that point, Johnny beat them over the head with the inevitability of it all, and the NCAA's toothlessness.

Manziel needs to give his Heisman to Mike Evans. His whole year was just scramble drills ending in a prayer thrown deep. The numbers of UT fans who care at all about this kid (who never won his division) is sad.

Evans has 82 catches for 1105 yards (13.5 YPC) and 5 TDs that year. He had 5 catches for 40 yards in the Bama game that basically cemented Manziel's Heisman. A great year for a freshman receiver, to be sure, but he was used more as a possession receiver in Kingsbury's offense. It wasn't until the following year that Johnny and Spavital very transparently put an emphasis on staying behind the LOS and proving to NFL scouts that he could throw the ball down field...and many turnovers ensued.

In 2012, Johnny had 1400 rushing yards and 21TDs on 7YPC to go along with his 3700 passing yards. Before Lamar Jackson came around.

There are plenty of valid reasons to take the shine off Johnny's Heisman (the SEC being down with utter garbage QB play that year being tops among them), but the narrative that he was just throwing up jump balls to Evans all year is just lazy and factually wrong.

If Red Bull was running Lawson and Yuki from the start this season they'd probably be last in the constructors, or at least fighting with Alpine for last place. That is Horner's fault.

Man, I really have a tough time putting blame on Horner for the current car being so shitty that only a fucking wizard can make it competitive. Honest question: how much of the engineering side is a team principle overseeing/directing? Though, obviously, someone's head has to roll.

But, yeah, the constant drama around the second seat has to fall on him. Their driver development used to be the envy of the grid. 6(?) of the current drivers on the grid came up through VCarb/Alpha Tauri. And now they're resigned to just let Yuki drive around the track with the rear markers for shits and giggles. Horner has either been too ruthless/impatient (Albon/Gasly), or, ironically, too sentimental (giving Danny what's supposed to be a development seat when they could have instead used it to  properly assess Lawson).

  9. I've said it before, but, other than Max's sheer brilliance, Horner's assholery is about the only thing holding that leaky ship together. Going to get real interesting now. Max wearing black seems like a good fit.

Right now all the MAGAts are calling for Bondi, Kash Patel, and Bongino to resign. Not a single one will criticize Trump for handpicking these bozos, or come to the realization that Trump absolutely wanted to bury the Epstein stuff to save his own ass.

Not surprising, but still incredible to watch in real time.

Trump is an absolute moron in almost all regards, but always having someone to blame and take the fall that isn't him isn't one of them. If there's one area that he's playing 5D chess, it's there. Dude was planting the seeds for blaming Biden for a possible Iranian terrorist response during his term the day after he ordered bombs dropped on their heads. Patel, Bondi, Bongino, Hegseth...all just future fall guys that are too dumb to realize it.

They won't. That's the beauty of the cult. You can profess to know the contents of every single email on Hunter's laptop, but you can completely ignore and pretend that you've never heard about all the things that make it 99.6% likely that you voted for a pedophile on three separate occasions.
