  1. Alcaraz serving at 3-2 up a break.
  2. Djokovic broken early second set, calls trainer. Looks like he's suffering from the heat. Or suffering from Alcaraz. Maybe both.
  3. Alcaraz wins first set.
  4. Alcaraz breaks and is serving for the set at 6-5.
  5. Both have a break, Alcaraz serving 3-4 first.
  6. I love watching Djokovic. I was fortunate enough to sit front row at the US Open a few years ago and was blown away by how hard he works and the level of his game. I REALLY didn't like Carlito when he was 18 and coming on, but he's growing on me. Great for the game that he's the number 1 and playing as well as he is while still having to contend with Djokovic. 2-2 in the first in Cincy.
  7. Don't sleep on New Mexico at Texas A&M. I mean...crazier things have happened.
  8. Maybe, but I personally think they aren't worried about legals and actually want a stream of Novus Homo challengers, even if someone completely random like TCU wins it all. ESPFOX doesn't care who wins, they care about how many people watch. APP ST and ATM is too few and far between to be bankable. Nothing brings viewers like an upstart, though...an uppidy, clueless underdog. Murica. That's why 40 is wrong. 64 works. You need cannon fodder, even if its expensive cannon fodder like ASU or WVU. Even if you could lose. TV just cares if it's interesting. Right now, College TV is rarely interesting. a couple times a year it's interesting. It will be interesting every week, whatever your school affiliation. There are two or three Saturdays where I say "I'm out. My day is booked. Divorce, fire, whatever...I'm sitting in my resort pavilion and watching foosball for 14 hours. Sorry. I'll happily cook...make drinks...empty the dishwasher, whatever, but I'm NOT GOING TO TARGET OR OR JENNA'S HOUSE FOR COCKTAILS. Sometimes it works. What the fuck happens if every Saturday is non-stop amazing shit? Seriously, this is happening because there have been whole Saturdays without a meaningful game, and there absolutely doesn't have to be. College football is already more interesting to me than Pro...make every game compelling, and I'm junkie status. WHAT IF EVERY SATURDAY WAS "OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG?" It could be, even with games like Oh St Minn or UT Tech. Those games will still draw between 1-2m and there is actual risk involved. What they won't do is be a foregone conclusion. For 20-30 supremes you need 60-90 also rans who are striving to become number 31. Every weekend can't have "Bamer and TX, GA v OU, FL v LSO, USC v Mich. OhSt. v. Penn St." without half of those schools sucking ass. You need a bigger class of plebs to beat up, sometimes lose to and occasionally promote because "gosh darn it, you're scrappy, tenacious, and you deserve a seat at the table. just not too many of you, and not too often!" YAY!
  9. Kstate, TCU, Baylor, Tech, Okst will get a crack once decade...maybe a few times. Add a few others who have come up just short in the last 20 years like Cincinnati, remove several dominant OU and UT teams, and their odds may actually be a lot better.
  10. Right. Why would fox or espn pay x (say $10) when they can remove the pieces they don't want and pay y (say $1). When ESPN FOX and whoever else comes up for bid, the network that's interested says hey, we will pay you 1X for the right to broadcast your games...and you say we can get more... OK...there're aren't any other suiters. Who would they get more from? Nobody else wants to broadcast those games. For any amount. Nothing has changed, really, but now it's 4 top dawg per conference where there used to be 3. Or 2. But the networks aren't going this to fix college football. they have a resource they will broadcast...but only if it makes sense. Which should scare about half the programs in the sec, because 10 years from now, ESPN is not going to care about the Vanderbilt tradition...or Illinois, Rutgers, Minnesota, etc...because they do not matter to 3 million people. Pitt et al are a foregoen conclusion. How may people in what demographic watch you. That it. Wins and losses mean nothing.
  11. I'm not smart, so explain it like i'm ridiculously simple. which I am. What is Turner?
  12. So...don't talk about overwhelming debt and hubris in the PAC 12 while discussing the implosion of the PAC 12 in the realignment thread. Texas v. CA shit talking it not cloak room. Dude. Come on.
  13. Economics, how does it work?
  14. I WILL NOT TAKE BACK JOHN BONHAM'S DRUMMING SUPERIORITY.
  15. UnderArmour was paying Cal 86 million? And backed out? UCLA for 280m for 15 years? and wanting out? Jesus. Shit's reconciling way more than was apparent, at least to me, but it makes sense. UA wants people to see their stuff. If no one watches, they aren't going to pay. A lot like ESPN and FOX.
  16. Every rush song straddles the fence between brilliance and obnoxiousness. The constant oscillation is exhausting. Also, no way Neal Pert = John Bonham
  17. That's fair. ...and only works with a payoff (enrollment, attractiveness, etc.). Stanford and Cal don't need that any more than Harvard or MIT do. 100% ego driven, right up until it's not and you have to ask your regents for endowment money. I'm still befuddled at the arrogance and hubris in some of these school's perceptions of what their entitlement is v what they deserve. Stanford is pretty securely the best athletic program in the country. But that doesn't translate to media value. No one but chess players care if they are the best chess players in the country. And that never occurs to them. They can't process it. SouthCarolina operating at a deficit knowing their football program is marketing for their SECSECSEC University is one thing. CAL in the red is not Cal's standard. ahem.
  18. INTERNET SAID SOMETHING I DON't LIKE!!!!
  19. IN. Can we turn it into degenerate gambling? 10 for number 1 pick, 9 for 2, 8...End ranking minus your pick #1 team ends up #1 = 0. #10 team ends up #1 = 9, #1 team ends up #10, -9. Goal = smallest delta... I'm no smarty, but I'd kick in $100. Or just pick each week.
  20. LoneStar hinterlands is amazing. UK gets atm...if not geography.
  21. At...wait, doesn't matter where. False.
  22. Fucking this. I hear debt/red numbers from Pac and I'm stunned. If Tech can operate with an 11m surplus, how can these self appointed geniuses so thoroughly fuck themselves? Texas: don't have it, don't spend it. West coast: don't have it, we deserve it. *I love the west coast. Lived in Cali for almost 20 years. Doesn't mean the politics and education there aren't beyond dumb. **don't neg me, RIMBO.
  23. Farting dreamer neg incoming. Prepare your...something.
