  1. Ugh.  Paul Heninger's op ed in the WSJ this morning explains, again, (and in a positive light) Trump's strength.  And that is the solid right is oblivious to his various asshole moves because he is the living exemplar of "the resistance".  In other words, and again, the solid right cannot stomach the thought of sharing any power with any version of "the left", ever, period.  That they hold the majority of state governments, hold the presidency, the senate, and the suprement court, and recently the house does not keep them from taking the perspective of the aggrieved insurgent "resistance".   And Trump shits on the dems like no other pub ever, thus he is the god of the resistance.

The picture is Brisketerian in its dystopia.

The more the dems gain, the stronger the "resistance".

tells me that Clemson OC figured out Bama's defense after the first 2 plays and superhuman Lawrence/Ross were able to fuck up the Tide when it counted for big plays.

    In a nutshell.

Plus they kept their defensive intensity levels with the lead.  A change I would like to see next year for UT.

That’s a bias though.  Whether it’s gender based is only something an experiment could prove out. Most claim they have no bias but then when subjected to a controlled experiment it shows.

I have adhd and it’s not mild, my brain races, I used to finish college and law school exams first by as much as half an hour and get the high A.  I get bored and distracted with slow talkers, I used to think they weren’t very smart, I used to ascribe speed with intelligence, I don’t much anymore though I still prefer fast talkers.  And in my own life, I speed up with the more confidence I have in the subject matter.

it may not be a preference for you, but I would challenge you to examine the assumptions, they are likely heuristics that are often and maybe most times useful but I suspect not 100% accurate.

    I don't think we disagree.

In my post I examined my assumptions, as a product of work experience, and referred to what I was looking for as simply preferences, another word for bias.  Having said that, if you had posted that you saw slow talking folk as stupid I probably would have responded defensively.  Its all part of our fallible natures.

Back to the congressperson in question, I think she's made a good start, has attracted all kinds of biased and mysoginistic responses, has some good ideas, and could do well with learning, experience, and enhanced communications skills.  Her political instincts appear high end.  No comment on the blue dress.

  4. The dollar's reserve currency status makes for a whole world of opportunities, in terms of money supply manageent choices, that would not be tolerated for a "normal" currency.  The music will surely stop as the day approaches when competitive reserve currencies emerge, which will surely then mean usurping reserve currencies.  Then the US population (all dollar holders) will be in for some rude awakening.

This type of future risk has been talked a about for a long time, but the competitive currencies have been slow to emerge.  The RMB looks to now be the sure pack leader.

What should a person with a multi decade investement perspective do?

  5. I like her just fine.  Yet her manner of speaking is different than what I prefer, which comes from a long time in technical work were careful, measured, and precise communications were the norm.  I don't think this is a "male" thing, but it might be a "power" thing, but when I hear impassioned rushing talk my gut reaction is the content has not been subject to the self scrutiny that a high commitment to truth requires.  Of course politicians lie in all kinds of speaking styles.

Maybe only a few percent of the population see communication this way, so its not relevant to what politicians should or shouldn't do.

The comments are spot on and scarier than the tweet and confirm my worst fears.  Why do the 21st century American rubes outnumber the 20th century Communist Russia/Eastern European rubes?  That don't make no sense....

    She is disgusting.

So, 6 encounters or list people on the southern border, 41 over same period on the nothern.  The real issue, visa overstays, is around 50k for Mexico and 100k for Canada.

So, not just the numbers lie, but the bigger lie about where the issues really are, and why they are animated.  Where the brown people are.

  7. Right behind racist nazi is mysoginist nazi, and Warren will have that completely overlapping trible insane with vengeance, just for being her being there.  Is right "reaction" any logic to use?

I'm thinking perhaps not.  The right went nuts when WJC was elected.  They went nuts over what Hillary said and did.  They went apeshit when Obama was elected.  They lost their shit when Hillary was nominated.  The right will bust their ulcer over any D nominee.

The issue is how the Dems will learn to counter the hysterical reactive rage of the right.

  8. All good points.

What many are worried about is that there is no reason to believe that the good selection of candidates and a primary process will enable the selection of the best candidate to beat Trump.  In fact the track record of such is piss poor, in general.  So the shit that is hoped to be gathered together involves some magic in overcoming this dismal reality.

  9. Biden has real legislative baggage that will eventually sink him with the current issue trends.  Bernie's staff issues, and his inattentiveness to them, also betray a talk but don't walk personal attitude which will nip his heel.

    Warren has some mo.  Warrant/Beto?

Of course.  Note "trivial" in thread heading.  Or, all wypipo problems.  Should have been in my carryon, etc, etc.  Now, find something trivial that irks you that we can ridicule out of context.

Yeah as it stands right now we need Sam pounding it or we lose.  We've got to be able to get more production elsewhere or it's just another season of praying he doesn't get hurt the wrong week.

I wish we would practice some under center plays for the RB for goal line situations and short yardage.  Another platform to build play options from.

  12. Was it on this site where an article on the HS coach was posted, who always onside kicked and always went on 4th, on the basis of the value of a possession?   A solid program, but as in all statistics indivisual instances will vary.  That particular situation had limited downside, as you point out, thus ideal.

Anyway, glad to see Herman paying attention to that stuff, moving forward from his turtle tendencies.  If we could just do something about the 4Q fuckuperry.  At this point I'm jst bewildered.  It is so consistent it looks like a strategy.
