  1. UGA lost to LSU by 20 and has two losses. Two massive strikes against them. At that point it’s over unless it’s 2007’s group of teams and even then it’s dicey without a league title. No 2 loss team has made the playoff period. the committee will try to get the “best” teams in as long as you don’t give them blatant reasons to exclude you like getting blown out or losing twice. UGA will get any benefit of the doubt they can justifiably give.
  2. Having no major conference games competing with it helped but that’s a monster number in any time slot.
  3. Their only win was WV *WITHOUT* Grier. So close to perfect ineptness
  4. Last year Bama who didn’t win their league but finished with a record of 11-1 got in over 11-2 OSU and USC who won their league. In 2016 Ohio Statedidnt won their league and had an 11-1 record. They still jumped 11-2 PSU who won their league. The Playoff has yet to see a 1 loss non-champion jump a 1 loss champ from another league. So unless teams who won their P5 league have two losses or more there isn’t a precedent for a non-champ to jump them.
  5. Probably not. UT is 14th and won’t sniff the top ten with a loss. Probably need to be that high to get in
  6. UF is the worst case. probably gonna be Bama/UGA loser assuming the don’t make the playoff
  7. Likely matchup against the Pirate or whoever loses Utah/Washington. sugar matches up vs Florida. no bad matchups imo
  8. They got in against a champion with more losses than them. this year would be a champ with the same record and THIS has yet to happen.
  9. I simply disagree. The committee is supposed to weight conference championships as part of the criteria. The next time they don’t for a team without one that doesn’t have fewer losses than the team jumping them will be the first time.
  10. I’ll be shocked if UGA survives losing to Bama and gets in. ill be mildly surprised if Bama does. i think it would require OU and Ohio State losing.
  11. I’ll be shocked. Northwestern is #22 and Ohio State lost a game by over four touchdowns. If OU wins it would have defeated every team it played and lost one game by a field goal.
  12. Exactly my point- if UGA loses and OU wins I expect UGA wont qualify
  13. 1- Bammer only got in as a one loss non-champ due to USC and tOSU getting deliverance’d in one loss and losing again. 2- The Big 12 CCG is purely a money grab that they hope helps in a year where 5 quality options emerged from the P5 leagues + ND + BYU (who plays a strong enough SOS to merit consideration) 3- The fact it’s so hard is one reason expansion is a good idea at the next contract with or without P5 options. The Playoff is going to expand to 6 or 8. Making the playoff here will be easier than in some superconference and will offset any lost revenue from league expansion. Expand to 12, get 8 league games, and go wreck stuff in the playoff.
  14. Disagree. Each year they either made a slam dunk case or the other contenders didn’t have the resume to get in. 2014- 1 Loss to Ole Miss by 6. SEC champ who beat solid WV in noncon 2015- 1 Loss to Ole Miss by 6. SEC champ who beat Wisconsin in noncon 2016- Unbeaten SEC champs who dominated USC in noncon. Didn’t lose until title game. 2017- Only controversial year. Unbeaten until Iron Bowl and didn’t win SEC. Only got in as the other teams with arguments were unbeaten G5 UCF who didn’t have nearly the same schedule and two-loss champs USC and Ohio state. Buckeyes lost by 31 and 15. Trojans lost by 35 and 3. Given Bama lost by 12 it’s not crazy to see why they got in. If either of the other two had been one loss champs without 20+ margin losses Bama likely is left out.
  15. At no point in the playoff era has a P5 champ been jumped by a non-champ with the same number of losses. I can see a small chance with Bama but not UGA.
  16. Then stop getting blown out by 5 and 6 loss teams. Purdue this year and Iowa last year didn’t even suffer any major injuries to argue they aren’t that bad.
  17. 1- True and funny 2- OU wouldn’t be held under 30 vs Purdue. You get blown out by 6-6 kiss the ability to jump any similar record team goodbye
  18. If Bama lost to UCF it would be hilarious if they lost to the backup QB it would be even funnier.
  19. And 31 to Nebraska And 49 to Purdue and 39 to Michigan And 31 to oregon state
  20. I don’t give Northwestern much of a shot. The teams that give Ohio State trouble are wide open spread offenses and Northwestern might occasionally be spread out but they are VERY conservative with their routes and schemes. One of the least explosive offenses in the country. I’d love to be wrong on this though
  21. Got a link to where they updated it? I don’t give any of the P5 leagues any credit for being proactive on things like this.
  22. Taking a step back UW would have similar odds to UT- both would be watching Michigan or possibly a two loss UGA slip in ahead of them with fewer losses. i do want to see Ut wreck whoever they play in the Sugar Bowl.
  23. I’m a Baylor grad. Never made it any secret in the ShaggyBevo days but haven’t uploaded an avatar here.
  24. 3 loss UW who barely lost to Auburn, Cal, and Oregon would have a better shot than 3 loss UT who lost to OkSt, WVU, and Maryland. michigan barely lost to ND and had a bad loss to tOSU. UTs odds wouldn’t be that great
  25. In that case the best bet is either Washington or an unbeaten UCF sliding into the 4th slot.
