Having lived on the East Coast for ten years now, I have met exactly zero people not from Texas who could tell you where in Texas CS is. However, when I say I’m from Austin and went to school there, everyone knows.

I did always figure that CS was like Baton Rouge, in that everyone just stays there, forever, but A&M is a much bigger school than LSU so I guess they can’t all just live there.

What?  Have you been to houston recently, half the town is lsu grads now.  It’s crazy

My oldest daughter went into the Teach For America program upon graduating from college. When she applied, she chose "place of highest need" rather than a specific city. She assumed they'd send her to inner city Chicago, LA, Houston, NYC, whatever. She'd get to see some shit or be home while she was doing her time in the program.

Instead of the inner city, they sent her to a very small town in the Mississippi delta. She taught 3rd graders and all students in MS have to pass the reading portion of their state standardized tests in 3rd grade. The elementary school had one white kid in it and a few asians and hispanics. The private school down the road would accept white kids for as little as a $5 donation if they were needs based. That school was all white, as they hadn't found a price high enough yet in order for it to make sense to enroll a non-caucasian.

Segregation is still alive and well in that state. It seemed to me that black folks were fucked for life in that place. She had multiple teenagers in her class each year because they couldn't pass the test. She got stabbed. She and her students saw one classmate's dad murder another classmate's dad in front of the school one day over a drug deal gone bad. There were fistfights in her class that she was forbidden from breaking up at least weekly.

Point is, small-town Mississippi is a hell of a thing. Many of these kids are fucked from day one and they've got very little exposure to much beyond walking distance. An in-state offer seems like the kind of thing that could be a really big deal. If he's flying to Austin this weekend, it might flat out blow his mind. I'm interested in seeing how it shakes out, but I'm not sanguine about things now that the idiots in Starkville have shown up. I am also curious about this dude's transcripts.

This, best thing to happen to that kid and his family would for him to leave that shitty state.  I just googled the small town he lives in.  It’s horrible.

  3. Umm  there are a lot of young people in the world. Sometimes shitty things will happen to them.  Believe it for not, but this also happened before covid vacs were a thing.

I lost a good friend to a random heart attack.  He was 33 and very fit.   (Autopsy tested negative for drugs for what it’s worth)  This was 2 years before covid.
moral of the story, get regular checkups and request a stress test.

    I summer in Beaumont.

Funny story  as a kid growing up i lived all over the world  europe, cali, east coast, but every summer we would spend 3 weeks on family land outside of holly beach Louisiana.   Family Had 30 acres of beach front property.

I absolutely loved it  and looked forward to it every year.

Manning has been raised to be prepared for this stuff given his birthright, but little freshman 49-0 would have been mortified by this tweet.

I wouldn't worry about anyone that watches Fox news.  They aren't going to ever vote for anyone that doesn't have an R by his name.  If Jesus himself came back to earth and told them to vote for a democrat they would look at him suspiciously and wonder why a guy with long hair wearing a robe and sandals should be trusted.  Rumor has it he might even be Jewish...not jew-ish.

Funny enough, was listening to NPR this morning and they said fox news actually didnt cover the top secret documents that much.  apparently CNN was far and away the leader in coverage.

The country would be sooooo much better with his leadership.

100% this.   He oozes leadership and pragmatism.   Top characteristics for a president imo.

Him being an amazing public speaker and debater is just the cherry on top.  I mean, can you imagine him debating trump or desantis?  He would destroy them

To anyone upset that Coach Beard will go on to great success without us, I hope he does. I hope he has a long, successful career.

And to anyone saying that this will soon be forgotten and we should have kept him, I don't care.

This photo, along with the police report of bruises and bite marks, makes me agree 100% with this statement issued by the university

    Fight me.

You really hope he has great success at our competition?

you are a far more generous person than I am.

he needs to fail And fail spectacularly
