    Oh FFS.

Like Texas Tech invented the concept of making your hand look like a gun. Our mascot is PISTOL Pete.  Maybe -- and I'm just spitballing here -- our fans thought it made sense to do a "gun sign" with their hands because our mascot is PISTOL Pete.

We've been doing that shit forever, and long before the Big 12 formed and Texas Tech was on anybody from OSU's radar.

I'm confused.  I thought your mascot was Sandrone, a character from Italian commedia dell'arte, dressed up as a cowboy.

  2. After many decades on this planet, I think Okie State may be my favorite school I'm not a fan of.  I've always liked their uniforms, found their coaches interesting, and they don't seem to take the fact that they are the 2nd team in a shithole state very seriously.

They blow lots of games but they always seem to be in the fray.

Plus their mascot makes children cry.

    They're attitude seems pretty good.

I hate to admit it but if they aren't playing Texas or Stanford I'm always rooting for them.

    Wild Bunch

Bring me the Head of Alfredo Garcia

    One False Move

    Red Rock West

    Bad Day at Black Rock

(I don't have much memory of Red Rock so I may be way off on that.)

Me and the kids knocked out the whole season in 2 days. Damn. I’d say season 4 way better than season 3.

Good because I was having trouble with the first episode, other than the deli ham.

Eating deli slices of ham and washing it down with Coors will likely be the best scene of the season.

When he's draining it at the same time he is offering it to Daniel San.  I chortled.

  6. The Maggie (1954)

I loved this odd little flick.  It's been in my netflix queue for about five years.  I put it in after watching Sweet Smell of Success because I wanted to see a couple more of Alexander Mackendrick's flicks.  I had no idea that after Sweet Smell Mackendrick really didn't have much success.

This thing is awesome if you want to be transported to Scotland for 90 mins.  It's a weird cross between one of John Ford's british isles movies and Local Hero.  Or something like one of Powell and Pressberger's early stuff.  Just low key and thoughtful and funny and British as hell.  It's an "Ealing Comedy" -- I think this British studio cranked out a bunch of these little comedies post WWII.

The 200 club level is an enjoyable experience.   Booze is ridiculously overpriced of course but full bars and decent stadium food can typically be found easy without any meaningful wait.  I'm kind of at the point where if I don't find a seat in that section for whatever I'm willing to spend for any given game I probably won't go.

Yep, I always hated it, but was in 235 or so for a game (Founder's Club) earlier this year and it was nice.

What I got from the movie is that any national issue that arises

    Not really a national issue.

The primary issue if something like this really happened would be the panic and destruction that would result from people vying to become one of the chosen to go into the mile deep bunkers -- an issue that was barely touched by the movie but would have pretty interesting.   Because the ratio in those bunkers would require one man for every ten women.  I hasten to add that since each man would be required to do prodigious... service along these lines, the women will have to be selected for their sexual characteristics which will have to be of a highly stimulating nature.

Those who don't get it probably don't get a lot of things going on around them.

I don't really think there was anything to "get".  It wasn't a particularly subtle satire.

I didn't know who the fuck Ariana Grande or Kid Kudi were until my daughter told me who they were so at least now I feel my indifference is justified.   So while I enjoyed the movie, I think I still probably missed tons of inside jokes.

I take a bit of offense that it's been compared at all to Dr. Strangelove because come on!  I'm thinking it terms of black comedy satire, something like In the Loop or even Burn After Reading did a better job of capturing political rot.

I think this movie excelled because it was really tight and captured some vibes from lots of genres.  But in the end, it's almost as if it was almost "too soon" in relying on the idiocy of the past four years.  Too many of the characters and jokes seemed like copies of real idiots.

Adam McKay arguably did my favorite movie of the last five years, The Big Short.  I think this one fits in nicely between his Will Ferrell comedies and something as cool and great as The Big Short.
