It's pretty awesome how much Texas has won during this last round of realignment. A common refrain is how realignment destroys ancient rivalries, basically every team that has had to realign prior has had to leave behind a major rivalry. Texas moves, and it not only retains its top rivalry, it also regains its other two historic mutal rivalries. Plus a major concern when leaving the historic texas footprint was always keeping the number of games that are travel-distance viable. One of the reasons Texas football is so fun to watch is because "away" games become home games when teams like Baylor are historically bad at best, and neutral site games at worst because people in Texas are used to driving 3 hours for a football game. OU is played in Dallas, Aggy is in Texas, Arkansas is driving distance away, and when they rotate up, LSU is also a hop skip away. In any given season, we can tell recruits they'll be playing maybe 6-7 or so games either in Texas or within comparable driving distance.

I fucking hated Tom Herman since the moment we got him. I hated him at UH and how he kissed his players and openly bragged about being in the insecure-people's scam that is mensa.
Tom Herman's first game at Texas came the day we started cleaning up my parent's place after Hurricane Harvey. The day before, the army corps of engineers had brough pumps to my parent's place and drained it, so that saturday was the very first day we could work at tearing it all down to the skeleton and throwing everything away. I had been up since sunrise working without electricity with my dad and brother all morning long when I snuck away to my place around noon to watch the game. I was already in a miserable mood and just wanted to watch Texas win to make me feel better. That game was our first upset to a not-good Maryland team.
Even when we had 10 wins under Herman, I still didn't like the guy. He seemed like a tiny dicked asshole even when he was winning. When they fired him, I figured Sam Ehlinger was gone too but I didn't care and just wanted to move on.
I had no prevailing opinions on Sark either way, but I knew he couldn't have been as bad as Tom Herman. Texas under Tom Herman, even if we turned the corner, would have taken on his jerkass mannerisms. Sark seems more into the job. I was really impressed by how well coached and ready to play the team looked today. This was every way a completely different beginning, feels like an entirely different team.
When I was at Texas in the mid 2000's, this was about the result I'd expect when I'd see teams ranked in the 20's on the schedule. They were probably going to be won by Texas by a lot. Hasn't been like that in over a decade.

Tim Brando officially won the cocksucker of the year award? He's that good? Or is it a volume victory?

They never played out of shape. They played not coached well and play calling was ignoring momentum. Turtle Tom would get up by 2 in the 3rd quarter and start acting like we could just coast the rest of the game running it up the gut every play.
I dunno, I see these players busting tackles and running after contact unlike I've seen in years at Texas.

Sark must be a diamond hardass to have whipped this team into shape in just one off season.

We had just started cleaning up from Harvey the day Tom Herman lost to Maryland in his debut. I snuck away for a few hours to my place and sat and watched us shit the bed, then had to go back and continue to tear down my mom's house in the heat.
Sark's debut is awesome in comparison.

Economics of the internet 101: If a site is free, you are the product. Surlyhorns having a privacy policy which states they own all the posts and eyes on this board to be sold to google adsense while simultaneously taking in server donations is "privatize the profit, socialize the losses" to a fucking T.
You guys are awful socialists, please do not ever talk about socialism again because you give us a bad wrap. Leave it to actual smart people, go back to your tens of thousands of posts about how important it is that you're a "known poster," it'll at least keep you guys from getting into trouble.

it would humorous to have him explain socialism to us and why it is bad, in this context
I can tell you that any site that has a copyright notice at the bottom and takes in private donations paid to a for-profit llc is pretty fucking awful at socialism.
sounds like you like your socialism in lemonade flavor, you neolib moron.

TREE FIDDY = serious business
I'm sure the irony of the site being "free" for him and others is utterly lost on him. Kind of like mask/vaxx debate.
what is advertising, kent, how does it work??

lol, I missed this the first time. sorry you're poor.
And you feel you're important because your old ass writes two-dollar checks to the third spin off site for ut football rabble rousing, because that's simultaneously your measure of success and wealth, per your own admission.

Thank fucking god, last thing I would want to be known for is role playing as a big boy insider while paying to post on a free website.

I’ve seen enough. Negged for saying dumb shit in the past about Ohio State would have beat Texas in 04 if Hamby doesn’t drop a TD in the third quarter. Negged for getting pissy about ppl talking shit about Big Ten schools for being careless with sexual assaults. Negged for the butthurt about people talking negatively about Ohio. Negged for being a cockgoblin and not knowing Jason Isbell. And negged for this pathetic display of “awe shucks whotf is Stevie Ray Vaughan.”
People who come to other team's football boards to post thousands, upon thousands of posts over the span of half a decade, when they aren't even in the same conference let alone have any meaningful history between the teams, are absolute fucking losers. Are you really that surprised?

A teacher’s face mask worn to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 was ripped off by a parent days before the first day of school in Texas, according to a school official.
A statement, titled “Creating An Oasis For Our Students,” provided insights into the return to school at Eanes Independent School District in Austin as well as details on unfortunate situations like the face mask incident. Eanes ISD is a K-12 school district.
“The last few days leading to the start of school have been a whirlwind of information and action from governors, attorney generals, judges, mayors, superintendents and even principals,” said Tom Leonard, superintendent of schools. “While many may not agree on the particulars (i.e., masks or no masks), we all want students to be safe and we all should treat each other respectfully.”
Sounds like she should have stood her ground and shot that person for attacking her. That's what antimaskers want, right? Guns in school?

Left Behind: A Quick Dose Of Post Big 12 Reality
in Football

So I guess the new Big 12 "big brand" is BYU? They have the largest stadium at 63k, and are a "national" school due to their mormon following. Should the Big 12 actually rally around them, make them into their Face-of-the-Conference team?
Who is the new "big" rivalry for the Big 12? Kansas vs KState is historically a crap game. Baylor vs TCU has been kind of fun lately. UH vs TCU could try to coat tails "Houston" vs "Dallas" mentality. Any chance Tech and Okie State try to make their thing into a deal?
Of the Texas schools remaining, which one will become the "top dog"? I would guess either Tech or TCU would probably historically be the best remaining, but I'm not actually sure.
I saw it estimated that the Big 12's post Texas-OU value will be around $20-$25 million per team. That's a step down from the $37 million per team with Texas and OU currently, but a huge step up for the G5 3 + BYU coming in. BYU reportedly gets about $6-$10 million for their TV contract, and the rest are in the $5-$10 million range as well. Will that translate into stadium expansions for these schools?
It's kind of fascinating to watch a league full of major also-rans and losers.
