Some idiots always stubbornly stick around in the face of a Cat 4/5 hurricane, so yea…

They evacuated everybody from the (Florida) Keys and everybody leaves except for one guy who’s gonna stay there and tie himself to a tree on the beach, to prove a point; and the point was, he said, that at 53 years of age, he was in good enough physical condition to withstand the wind and the rain of a force 3 hurricane. OK, let me explain something to ya: it isn’t thatthe wind is blowin’. It’s what the wind is blowin’. If you get hit with a Volvo, it doesn’t really matter how many sit-ups you did that morning. If you have a "Yield" sign in your spleen, joggin' don't really come into play. "I can run 25 miles without stopping." "You're bleedin'." "Shit!"

  2. South Africa didn’t want to be left out of the protest and riot games.

The new president arrested the old president and kicked off widespread unrest.

Civilians have taken up arms against the rioters as the police have told them they are on their own  Videos are all over Twitter and YouTube

Somebody who isn't as lazy as me should post the thing that has been floating around on the internet about the weapons they used.

I haven’t seen what you are referencing but it really bugged me that 30 years in the future in a SciFi world with time travel we were still using ARs, F22s and HUMVEEs.

I was thinking GE. Lots of companies employ this without having their CFO create bullshit SPVs and their lunatic President create entire business units that produce nothing but sizzle and cost.
I hate working for a company that employs this, because it can ruin morale if not done properly, but at a company like XOM in a beleaguered industry like integrated E&P, it’s necessary. Large integrateds must do it, but I think the industry needs to go a step further and start doing this at the large independent level. Pioneer already has, it hurt their morale tremendously, but they did it before Covid and came out just fine.

I'm pretty sure exxon has done this forever.

When I interviewed with them in 2005 they were upfront with the policy and explained the ranking system as part of my interview.

  5. Just read the whole thread after a buddy asked me what I knew about options yesterday (nothing).

Every time I thought I started to get a base understanding you guys would say something else and I’d be lost again. I’ll have to start a paper account and play to try and learn a little.

Selling covered call options: If I own a position I’m looking to exit at $X is there any reason (other than the upside risk if it pops hard) not to sell covered calls at the target exit price?

I usually spend about three weeks a year in Colorado between Crested Butte and Telluride.  In general, I haven't felt or seen much of the aggression against Texans that others have reported.

In fact, I bought a place in Crested Butte earlier this year and I would say that when I'm up there, the reception to me by the locals has ben quite warm.

I've heard some stories about Texans being treated poorly, but like Chewbacca mentioned, it may be against people rolling in with the "we made you, so you need to lick my boot" mentality.

Have you joined any of the Facebook groups yet?

If I had to guess it will remain where it is and will include zero employees from Cimarex.

I bet most of the technical teams get offers since Cabot has no Midcon or Delaware staff. Will any of them come is a different story.

  8. Watched it tonight. I had been super excited but saw the early reviews and was concerned. It was an acceptable action flick but they shouldn’t have played off of the WR title. It was so far from the book that I was mildly disinterested.

I really wanted to see the decompression chamber scene on film.

I appendix carry and am left handed, so if I'm driving, the belt crosses over and clicks on my right hip.  If I want to keep the pistol on my person, I have slide it forward, almost to the 11 o'clock position.  This isn't always a viable option wearing certain clothes, hence the consol cover (or driving long distances, etc).

If you are left handed and AIWB wouldn’t your holster be at 11:00 to begin with?  I’m right handed and run at 12:30-1:00.

If you are really concerned with drawing in a car the key is to setup before you need to, move the seatbelt behind the pistol and under your cover garment. If you are alone or don’t care you can tuck the cover behind the pistol as well and then all you need to do is present the gun.

There is a really good class in DFW over this material.

Would I be an idiot to leave O&G now? Got an opportunity that’s pretty good, but feel like I’m selling “low” on the O&G industry after getting through the nightmare of 2020

What did you end up deciding to do?

  11. The problem with that pistol is the group that respects it is small and probably spends most of their money on training.

I’d love to own it but don’t see much appreciation like you would with a 1st Gen SAA or a gun with documentation to Al Capone or someone
