    Not unless you default it.

    Correct.

I was referring to the “If you fail to service it” comment. Probably should have put it in bold.

The other big downside is the 60 day payback if you leave the job. Not sure PLs job security but it’d be a big concern for me in O&G right now.

On the other hand, if you do a 401k loan, the only debt you'll owe (other than existing mortgage) is to yourself.  If you fail to service it, there will be no foreclosure, no wailing or gnashing of teeth.  A bad outcome, no doubt, but a quietly bad outcome.

You’ll owe the IRS 10% + taxes on the loan amount as income. If the cash for the penalty and additional taxes are not available you’d be indebted to the IRS. May be better than the CC or mortgage but I’d prefer not to have the IRS after me.

It's pretty brutal in houston right now. Any job that is posted gets like 200 applications in a few days. If anybody is looking for a reservoir/reserves engineer let me know.

    Best of luck.

It’ll be interesting to see how many technical professionals cut since 2015 just bail and leave the industry. I was talking to a landman buddy of mine who graduated around 2010, I think he said something like 4 of his class of 20ish were still in the industry.

  4. I’m constantly on the hunt for a good $25 bottle of whiskey. Current favorites are base Four Roses, Old Granddad 114 and Rittenhouse Rye BiB.

We did the Bourbon Trail last year and hit 23 distilleries and sampled over 100 spirits. It was awesome to see all of the little variations people do (Woodford steams warehouses in the winter, FR only builds single story rick houses, etc) but it also really helped define my palate. I prefer a younger (cheaper) whiskey for the spicier flavor profile with more of the cinnamon and heat profiles. At multiple distillers we had an entry level side by side with a mid to upper and preferred the entry. Buffalo Trace and Eagle Rare is the side by side I remember most with the preference to BT.

We met Jimmy Russell and got him to sign a bottle of Wild Turkey Master’s Keep Rye. Not sure if it will ever get drunk.

Next time, I will count how many times I answer  "I don't know".   Any other suggestions for the next stage of this experiment?

A few ideas to run either as standalone or as some sort of codependent variable:

A: How many questions does she ask where you have the exact same  knowledge base I.e. watching a movie together for the first time.

B: How many questions does she ask with optional answers where the answer you give is ignored in favor of the other option.

    C. How many questions does she ask that she continues to explain and justify even after receiving an answer.

If we can open this up to an explain for dummies thing - do different index funds track different segments of the market? Most of my index investing is in my 401k where my options are fairly limited, so I haven’t thought about it beyond different options for tracking the S&P.

There is an index fund for anything you can think of.

Boglehead forum has a great intro for index funds and recommend a total US, total international and total bond fund.

I think they said they'd end fracking on federal land.  how many barrels/day come from federal land via fracking?

All of onshore, looks like about 600,000 BPD in 2018.

  8. We have a 16 that we have been happy with other than the shit Pirelli run flats that were bald at 22,000 miles. It’s comfortable and has plenty of room. Gets around town fine and is much easier to get in and out of for me than the previous Lexus car.

We went CPO with 8,000 miles on it saved 20% on sticker and then added  two years to the warranty for a grand total of 6 years bumper to bumper with unlimited mileage through MB.

All of the 5 seater crossovers have morphed into the same car. The MB CPO was by far the best option though.
