Phil Williams is not going to let go of this so it should get entertaining.
The hillbilly sheriff is obviously an idiot. How the fuck the courts decided to hold him on $2 million bail for this is the real question. Just a reminder - stay the fuck out of bugtussle, red state. Shit's outta control.

I did a bit of a search on this and can’t find anything but this Substack as a source and I’m frankly really skeptical.
The United States does not posses or produce chemical weapons. It’s unclear what missiles the warheads would go on and what platform they’d be used with. There’s no missiles in the DHS inventory to use.
Best guess is this guy caught wind of some sort of DHS purchase under Federal Supply Classification (FSC) Code 1336, which includes:
Quote1336 Guided Missile Warheads and Explosive Components Includes Warheads Containing Military Chemical Agents; Exercise Heads, Guided Missile. Excludes Atomic Ordnance Warheads; All other Warheads for use on other than guided missiles; Liquid Propulsion Units; Rocket Engines (Liquid Propellant Units); JATO Units; Rocket Motors (Solid Propellant Units) for Guided Missiles; Solid Fuel Propulsion Units; Propellant Chemicals encased in consumable containers, such as squibs and cartridges for insertion into missile propulsion systems as integral parts.

Could be something not so ominous; in this timeline, more likely that they're planning to transition their speedboat targeting operation from the military to DHS. Who fucking knows, but the decision to fund Trump's private police to the tune of $170B is going to go down in history as one of the biggest Congressional fuck-ups of all time.

I don't see that as what he's advocating for. The vote to take healthcare away has already passed, with no democrats voting for it. This is the democrats keeping the government closed in a last-gasp effort to keep the republicans from suffering from their own bill. It would be awesome if it ends up working, but if the democrats end up caving so government workers can start getting paid again and Federal projects stop getting cancelled, that doesn't make it their fault that millions of people get the loss in healthcare that they voted for.
I think you underestimate the stupidity of the average American voter. I fear that once they Democrats touched this thing focusing on the healthcare issue, they opened themselves up for the argument that they partially own it (which the Rs will absolutely push next fall). At this point, I think the Dems have to go all in and make the Republicans eliminate the filibuster and cram this thing through. That would be awful for the folks relying on the subsidies, but would allow (1) the Dems to look like they were actually fighting for everyone and (2) MAGA to finally touch the stove and feel the pain. That's why the Republicans are absolutely not going to make that move. Even if the Rs actually concede, the Dems will not benefit much, if at all - see opening premise. Politically, I think tying this to healthcare was a stupid move; morally right, but stupid if they're trying to stop the country's march to authoritarianism.

Got damn she looks like shit.
And yeah, the Coast Guard's budget was where they got the money.
I guess if you're just going to blow up any boat that approaches U.S. coastal waters, you don't need the Coast Guard so much.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced Thursday he will deploy Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and Texas National Guard members to Austin ahead of a planned ‘No Kings’ protest at the State Capitol Saturday afternoon.
The governor claimed the protest was “antifa-linked” but did not elaborate.
“Violence and destruction will never be tolerated in Texas,” Abbott said. “Today, I directed the Texas Department of Public Safety and Texas National Guard to deploy all necessary law enforcement officials and resources to ensure the safety of Austin residents. Texas will deter criminal mischief and work with local law enforcement to arrest anyone engaging in acts of violence or damaging property.”
The governor said troopers, special agents, Texas Rangers and Texas National Guard soldiers would be “surged” to Austin. The governor’s office did not say how many personnel it planned to send.
“These law enforcement officers and soldiers will be supported by aircraft and other tactical assets,” a news release from Abbott’s team said. “DPS’ Homeland Security Division is actively monitoring the planned protest in Austin, as well as any other potential violent demonstrations across the state. DPS will investigate any links to known terrorist organizations and swiftly bring charges against those who engage in unlawful activity.”
Can we please devote a few rounds of this chant to Hot Wheels at the rally in Austin this weekend?

This.
Imagine that you are what most would call "on the spectrum." It is NOT a bad thing - or at least, not an inherently bad thing. It bestows upon you the ability to think about the world, problems, and solutions in a very non-traditional, often non-linear way. That can lead to some lightning-bolt type innovations, changes and disruptions to existing structures, etc....which CAN be good.
Now imagine that you are like that....and you are a sociopath. That is, you have no sense of empathy -- whether learned or innate, it doesn't much matter. Empathy is the foundation beneath most moral and ethical structures; if the structure depends solely on "well, you wouldn't like that if it happened to you" (appeals to self interest only), then the structure is doomed to fail. If you don't have empathy, you don't have what the ethical and moral would call "humanity."
Our system rewards such a thing: innovation, gaming the system, playing OUTSIDE the system, unbound by any ethics or morality.
In short, these men ARE Skynet. Not "they're creating Skynet," they ARE Skynet. They have some unique computing power in their heads. They see "problems," and they come up with "solutions," unimpeded by moral boundaries. They absolutely can -- and will -- reach a conclusion like "(1) higher-form humans are the best representatives of humanity (and they of course see themselves as members of that select group) (2) resource competition is dragging us all - including "higher-form humans" -- down, (3) therefore, eliminating competition is best for humanity, because it helps higher-form humans succeed. Shit like that. Their kind of thinking is how you end up with cold, calculating elimination of millions, tens of millions, hundreds of millions, billions, of human beings. It's the "trolley problem," except they play the game with 9 to 10-figure numbers of humans. And they do so with no remorse, empathy, sympathy, or sadness. "2 billion dead to make life better for the 6 billion left? Well, that's just a price to be paid. Did y'all see my sick meme?"
These men are the most dangerous, evil humans to ever live. Not just because of how they think, but because they have to means to turn their evil into reality.
Like Thanos, but more of an asshole ...

I don’t understand why they aren’t already? Confusing.
Aren't they effectively at this point? Any time the Trump admin loses a case they care about, they just pick up the Supreme Court bat phone and any injunction will get stayed with the quickness via the shadow docket, with the promise of "getting to the merits eventually" ...

Lemme guess - Trump's going to end up having his Qatari 747 serviced at the Qatari air force facility in perpetuity in return for charging Qatar $20/year for the right to have the facility and associated training in the U.S. Sound about right?

And why does this matter? Do they think the ICE goons are going to follow any rules?
If ICE is going to act outside the bounds of the law and the Trump admin is going to undermine any hope of recourse for misconduct, the courts should provide some guidance that ICE goons should be treated under the law just like any average joe guilty of aggravated assault / battery - i.e., protestors should be entitled to a right of self-defense, taking into account recent misconduct by ICE officers in deciding whether they have a reasonably belief there is imminent danger. You want to act like you're above the law? Sorry, you don't get extra protection when you're operating in that mode.

State rep's bill would punish colleges financially if they don't rename roads after Charlie Kirk
The threat that failure to comply would result in the withholding of state funding gives the bill real teeth
Does it have to be "Charlie Kirk Blvd" or would something like "Charlie's Gaping Neck Wound Ave." also meet the requirement?
