CPI released this morning. Damn high. Where is this under 2% Dotard keeps promising?
So does anyone actually believe the data being put out by the BLS under Wiatrowski? To his credit, the numbers aren't so outlandish that they can be dismissed out of hand, but these numbers are a good amount lower than expected. It wouldn't surprise me if they start pumping out 2.1% numbers even when it's clear that we're running closer to 4%.

I'm starting to understand all the uncivilized behavior on flights now.
Made the mistake of taking one of the last flights out of SFO on Friday. I don't give a shit what anyone is wearing, but if your body odor is so fucking foul you're making people gag as you roll by during boarding, I'd be on board with the airline dousing your ass with some Febreze / deodorant on the way in - take your pick. By my estimate, at least 1/3 of the people were reeking from jump. Layer in the folks in the rows ahead of me shitting themselves every 15 minutes, and I agree that we may need to revisit the social contract associated with mass transportation.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration has renamed the U.S. Institute of Peace after President Donald Trump and has planted the president's name on the organization's headquarters despite an ongoing fight over the institute's control.
It’s the latest twist in a seesaw court battle over who controls the U.S. Institute of Peace, a nonprofit think tank that focuses on peace initiatives. It was an early target of the Department of Government Efficiency this year.
On Wednesday, the State Department said it renamed the organization to the Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace to “reflect the greatest dealmaker in our nation’s history.” The new name could be seen on its building, which is near the State Department.
Hopefully the next president promptly renames it "The Fuck Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace" (ya know - to get our money's worth out of the signage ...) with instruction for it to revert to simply the Institute of Peace after 5 years.

If the non-MAGA contingent ever regains a majority on the Supreme Court, they should just issue a blanket opinion overriding every opinion that was decided from 2016 on without concurrence by any of Ginsberg, Sotomayor, Kagan or Jackson because the rest of them over this period have shown themselves to be utterly corrupt. (BTW - I understand that's not the way the SC works, but why bother trying to play by rules when the GOP has made up fact patterns and forced cases up to the Supreme Court to be heard as soon as the court's composition was just right ...)

It was really smart to give Republicans another thing to be mad at Trump about right now. They half-assed the document so bad that people have already figured out it was translated from Russian to English. This was literally Putin's wishlist.
So did Putin get a hold of Epstein's video stash of Trump diddling 13-year-olds or what?

I have to think that is their thought process, but it's a fucking mistake if you ask me.
Maybe - the only bigger mistake would have been to procure an extension through 2026, which would prevented the pain until after the election. I couldn't believe that they were actually discussing that option, but, hey - we are talking about the Democrats.

I guess this thread is as good as any....
Fiserv dumped 44% today when their new CEO pulled guidance. Its also sounding like there may have been some fraudulent growth reporting under the previous CEO.

Where is that guy now? Why he's Trump handpicked head of the SSA and CEO of the IRS. His move to the trump admin gave him cover to sell the entirety of his stock, saving him hundreds of millions of dollars. Now all he needs is a pardon from the big guy and he gets away with it.
I'm sure we have nothing to worry about.
I hope someone is keeping a list, just in case the Purge breaks out at some point in the future ...

Phil Williams is not going to let go of this so it should get entertaining.
The hillbilly sheriff is obviously an idiot. How the fuck the courts decided to hold him on $2 million bail for this is the real question. Just a reminder - stay the fuck out of bugtussle, red state. Shit's outta control.

I did a bit of a search on this and can’t find anything but this Substack as a source and I’m frankly really skeptical.
The United States does not posses or produce chemical weapons. It’s unclear what missiles the warheads would go on and what platform they’d be used with. There’s no missiles in the DHS inventory to use.
Best guess is this guy caught wind of some sort of DHS purchase under Federal Supply Classification (FSC) Code 1336, which includes:
Quote1336 Guided Missile Warheads and Explosive Components Includes Warheads Containing Military Chemical Agents; Exercise Heads, Guided Missile. Excludes Atomic Ordnance Warheads; All other Warheads for use on other than guided missiles; Liquid Propulsion Units; Rocket Engines (Liquid Propellant Units); JATO Units; Rocket Motors (Solid Propellant Units) for Guided Missiles; Solid Fuel Propulsion Units; Propellant Chemicals encased in consumable containers, such as squibs and cartridges for insertion into missile propulsion systems as integral parts.

Could be something not so ominous; in this timeline, more likely that they're planning to transition their speedboat targeting operation from the military to DHS. Who fucking knows, but the decision to fund Trump's private police to the tune of $170B is going to go down in history as one of the biggest Congressional fuck-ups of all time.

I don't see that as what he's advocating for. The vote to take healthcare away has already passed, with no democrats voting for it. This is the democrats keeping the government closed in a last-gasp effort to keep the republicans from suffering from their own bill. It would be awesome if it ends up working, but if the democrats end up caving so government workers can start getting paid again and Federal projects stop getting cancelled, that doesn't make it their fault that millions of people get the loss in healthcare that they voted for.
I think you underestimate the stupidity of the average American voter. I fear that once they Democrats touched this thing focusing on the healthcare issue, they opened themselves up for the argument that they partially own it (which the Rs will absolutely push next fall). At this point, I think the Dems have to go all in and make the Republicans eliminate the filibuster and cram this thing through. That would be awful for the folks relying on the subsidies, but would allow (1) the Dems to look like they were actually fighting for everyone and (2) MAGA to finally touch the stove and feel the pain. That's why the Republicans are absolutely not going to make that move. Even if the Rs actually concede, the Dems will not benefit much, if at all - see opening premise. Politically, I think tying this to healthcare was a stupid move; morally right, but stupid if they're trying to stop the country's march to authoritarianism.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced Thursday he will deploy Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and Texas National Guard members to Austin ahead of a planned ‘No Kings’ protest at the State Capitol Saturday afternoon.
The governor claimed the protest was “antifa-linked” but did not elaborate.
“Violence and destruction will never be tolerated in Texas,” Abbott said. “Today, I directed the Texas Department of Public Safety and Texas National Guard to deploy all necessary law enforcement officials and resources to ensure the safety of Austin residents. Texas will deter criminal mischief and work with local law enforcement to arrest anyone engaging in acts of violence or damaging property.”
The governor said troopers, special agents, Texas Rangers and Texas National Guard soldiers would be “surged” to Austin. The governor’s office did not say how many personnel it planned to send.
“These law enforcement officers and soldiers will be supported by aircraft and other tactical assets,” a news release from Abbott’s team said. “DPS’ Homeland Security Division is actively monitoring the planned protest in Austin, as well as any other potential violent demonstrations across the state. DPS will investigate any links to known terrorist organizations and swiftly bring charges against those who engage in unlawful activity.”
Can we please devote a few rounds of this chant to Hot Wheels at the rally in Austin this weekend?

Trump’s America
in Cloak Room
You lack imagination - it's clear that the migrant hoards will start forming in July after early polls show the Dems are likely to take control of Congress. See how easy that is?
