this feels like old times.  back in the heyday, Dallas faced Edmonton in the playoffs regularly.  just saw this:

Edmonton was a speedbump on both trips to the Stanley Cup finals in 1999 and 2000.  this is gonna be fun.

Otter needs to stand on his head like Eddie and his bumblebee-skates did back then, and likewise climb inside The Oil's heads with both leg blockers on.  Lulz.

I doubt they’ll put on our football games on ESPN+ during the life of the current ESPN-SEC contract. So the olds can a deep breath.

I could see the Monroe game getting dumped on the SECN+.

I think most men’s basketball games will be on SECN or SECN+.

The sports will of course be all over ESPN+. It’s a very clunky app that requires near constant log in’s to avoid password sharing. The interface is pretty user friendly, but it’s shit ton of scrolling if you don’t use the search function. It badly needs a favorite team function or favorite team homepage. If you’re looking UT Swimming and Diving going to scrolling for 30 minutes.

My AT&T U-verse smartphone app has freely carried all the SEC+ Network baseball games, and that's been the case for several years. You could find any SEC baseball game you wanted, even if it was a SEC school playing the school-for-the-blind in non-conference.

It remains to be seen if that continues for free in the future.

I think they still fuck us with Arky or aggy even if we win the tourney.

I agree. They always seem to discard what happens in the conference tournament if you're already qualified for the regionals.

Fuck those pieces of shit.  This is for Craig Curry!  No piece of shit Big 12 refs for this one either.  Fuck the SEC AND FUCK GEORGIA!

Really fucking sick of that goddamned joke the Jawja fucksticks have said forever from that game.

    FUCK Jawja!

I've said this multiple times, but whatever.  If we play any of these Big 12 schools non conference weekends in the  next 10 years I'll be calling for a head coach to be fired.

Tuesday is fine I guess if we have to.  I am fine playing Arizona State and Arizona though.

We stopped playing ASU during the regular season many years ago because of multiple retaliatory bench-clearing brawls.

That's what I was thinking about the last time we beat them in a regional.

Houston looks like they could give a shit less about playing baseball right now.  We might could grab nine of us and beat them today.

Would Cougar High tank meaningless games to make sure Texas doesn't get a bye? It sure looked like it.

    FUCK Cougar High, FOREVER!

Back when my boys were little, we had awesome season tickets just behind the on-deck circle.  In between innings, the assistants would sneak them extras under a tiny loose corner of the netting next to the dugout.  They were in heaven.

Then one year Deloss put up a wall in LF and bolted that little corner down.

    It's a boy's last dream and a man's first loss.

His attention to details like that, yet Bellmont couldn't demand proper burnt-orange uniforms and proper burnt-orange colored designs on the baseball/football fields was chicken-shit.

    His name is DeLoss.

Yeah this is where I’m at with the two. In the field, I do think Dee is quicker in his footwork/movements. At the plate Dee shouldn’t over think it this year and just focus on putting the ball in play and making stuff happen with his speed.

With some of the extreme-shifts so many Texas batters were getting, I can't believe they refused-to/didn't-know-how-to bunt or drag-bunt until they stopped the extreme-shifts.

The stubborn attitude of, "Nope! I'm going to hit the ball exactly to the same locations like I always do, because I don't want to try to hit to that huge open space!" Bullshit, especially by all the lefty-dead-pull-hitters Texas has, and oblige shitty-byu/etc. teams by hitting the ball exactly into the extreme-shift for the easy-outs, when the 3rd-baseman hugs the left field line behind 3rd base and there's no one between him and anywhere near 2nd-base, just made me want to pull my hair out.

Dee has gotten the shift treatment, too, and he could have just laid down a bunt towards 3rd and, with his speed, got a hit every time -- but I've never seen him do it. FFS

I caught that real time.  Kudos to all grown ass men who don't keep the foul balls.

During my time at The 40 Acres during GusBall, I never got to keep one.

The last one I grabbed, I whipped out a pen and signed my name on it before a student-manager came and took it from me.  Lulz.

I will do that.  We have an autographed picture of Ernie somewhere.  Years ago one of my employees met him at a diabetes fund raiser, got an autograph, and gave it to my son.   I grew up in Houston and got to see him play a few times before he retired.  I am old enough to have seen a lot of the greats that were his contemporaries.  By the way, Ernie was born and raised in Texas.

Ha! I also grew up in the Houston area, watched the Astros/Rockets/Aeros of the 70s/80s/90s in person, so I saw many greats play in person, too.

Mom (who was a RN) was a first-aid-room tech/nurse in the Houston Colt .45s' old Colt Stadium for a couple seasons -- a few years later moved to SF and saw more greats play for the Giants when they first moved out to SF.

We have tickets for tonight, but with all the possible severe weather and 50 minutes of drive time each way we may settle in and watch the game on the big screen at home.  Hopefully they cancel and schedule a double header and make Ernie happy.

Watch Ernie's interviews on YT. He was always happy, doubleheaders just made him more happy.  Lulz.

I have seen zero evidence that our pitching staff has ever been impacted by the Big 12 tournament. And we have almost a full weeks rest between the tournament and the start of the regionals. How that jacks anything out of regular rest I have no idea. Out of the five years we have won the tournament, three times we made at least the semi-finals in Omaha because, you know, good teams win stuff.

And winning the Big 12 tournament championship doesn't do as much. But it is still a championship.

Yeah I don't see us sweeping Kansas, winning the conference tournament, or hosting. But I am just saying it would be a lot cooler if we did...though probably not hosting even if we beat everybody 20-0.

In past years there was less time between the Big12 tournament and the regionals -- that was finally fixed when I bet the schools complained. This year, the Big12 tournament ends on May 25th, and the regionals start May 31st, or for some teams, June 1st.

Also often we'd play in open-air ballparks like Bricktown Ballpark in OKC, and they'd get 2 games behind in the schedule because of rain, and we'd finish a day late with the already short schedule before they fixed the dates between the Big12 tournament & the regionals.

No rain this year being in Globe Life Field with its retractable roof/air-conditioning/heating (Enron Field/Minute Maid Park has no heating thanks to cheapskate Drayton McLane).

Rain will be part of our SEC baseball future as long as the SEC keeps their SEC tournament in that hole named Hoover.

My 2 tickets are under the overhang and in the shade right at 11am. I’ll be good, but still probably not going any of the early-season games.

Dad's tickets were under the overhang in the 70s when the "Options" seats were the seatbacks in the upper deck---- until that fateful year when we had several rainy home games.

Then the coveted seats became the ones underneath the overhang, and our seats moved to what used to be the "Options" seatback seats in Section 104.
