So between the players from Fort Collins and the olds in the NEZ, we should lose...what, 20-30 people?  For $3700 from ABC?  Sounds good.

It'd be great to decide our own gametimes (7pm in late summer/early fall, whenever we choose when it gets cold), even if that meant we'd take the extra gate from having one of the many no-TV/radio-only games that we olds remember, but I bet the cockamamie TV contracts we're in wouldn't allow that, neither.

It matters this year. Got to do well.

And Texas should be about winning all the championships, I know this one is the one that matters least but winning a Big 12 title on the way out would be sweet.

Well, we can't win the regular-season Big12 Championship as our old assistant coach Skip Johnson has tied that up for Mobilehoma this year.

I don't know if winning the Big12 tournament championship does us much -- it hasn't in years past IIRC -- other than jack our pitching staff out of regular rest before the regionals start.

    TEXAS at UCF
    May 10-12, 2024
    Where: John Euliano Park
Time: Friday at 5 p.m. CT; Saturday at 5 p.m. CT; Sunday at 12 p.m. CT
    TV: ESPN+
    Radio: AM-1300 The Zone/103.1 FM
    Live stats: Texas.Statbroadcast.com
    All-time series: First meeting

    PROBABLE PITCHING MATCHUPS
FRIDAY–Texas RHP Max Grubbs (4-4, 3.70) vs. UCF RHP Ben Vespi (3-2, 4.45)
SATURDAY–Texas LHP Ace Whitehead (4-0, 3.73) vs. UCF RHP Dom Stagliano (2-3, 4.07)
SUNDAY–Texas RHP Lebarron Johnson Jr. (2-4, 5.82) vs. UCF TBA

UCF's park is 320' down the lines,  390' to center, 360' to both alleys.    Only David Pierce could have designed a field that small.

Texas returned to the Baseball America rankings at No. 25 this week and has four more conference wins than the Knights, but UCF holds a much higher RPI than Texas at 32.

That simply means any win against UCF, especially on the road, will help Texas improve its rating and presumably its NCAA tournament seeding.

Texas baseball has big opportunity at UCF to improve RPI, seeding for Big 12 tourney | KXAN Austin

Visitors' bullpen is just a chain-link fence all the way around that anyone outside the stadium can walk up to and rag on and harass the pitchers (especially the chance to do it to Texas' pitchers) at all day long. What a Shithole!

So are Williams and the small school CB our last two portal targets for this window? Can’t remember any other names.

I think it was this week, if not yesterday, that OTF (Bobby/Gerry) suggested that if there's a great-fit high-quality LB out there, we could add a LB, also.

It’s not like we had good CB play last year.  Watts and Brooks were getting burned plenty too. Having a 2nd year Muhammad and Cole as our starters would be a meaningful improvement, and like you admitted, we’ve improved at safety so getting better CB play is more important this year.

With DE upgrades the DBs shouldn't have as long to cover since the QB will be on his ass, so unless the SEC allows wholesale BS offensive-holding like the Big12-crooked-jihad refs allowed last year, pass-situation defense should be better than last year.

It also would help if the new DBs have abilities that overcome bad defensive coaching, much like VY and the offense overcame GDGD.

Dude complains about a pitch dead center in the zone. Sit down, loser.

He was telling him, "You can't make that call when we play Texas here! We're paying you too much for that!"  Lulz.

Have you or anyone else figured out where (which radio station) the Texas baseball games go on terrestrial radio when Texas baseball games are pre-empted by Round Rock Express minor-league baseball games?

OR do they go nowhere but online?  I'm asking for some relatives that still use terrestrial radios, but are way too old for smartphones and the Net.

It's happened quite a bit already this season that these game times seem to be very popular with both Texas baseball and the Round Rock Express.

Will be interesting to see the crowd tonight. Secondary market tickets are going for $10 including fees.

I still can't believe they moved that series to Arlington in 2022 so they could help the program make more money.

Eh, if I was a Texas baseball fan in the Metroplex, I wouldn't want to drive to Norman, neither.
