  1. Just checking.  Nalani and Logan were clearly told to dial the serve back in the 3rd set.  Logan served 3 times in the 2nd set and not one found the court.

ISU is a pretty good defensive team, but ours is still better.  Morgan had a few ridiculous digs.  Skylar had some great kills in big moments.  Molly was outstanding from the opposite side.

Both middles were solid as well.  It looked like they slowed down the timing a little on some of them.  The hitter wasn't quite in the air when Jhenna set the ball.  That threw off the block and made for some easy kills.

Texas finally stopped giving up 5-6 free points/match by just getting the serves in and it showed in the result. All those MW service faults last year just killed momentum. And teams had no trouble returning it no matter how hard it was hit. We've seen some of the same thing with Nalani's serve. Kansas had more trouble with Morgan's serve than Nalani's, but at least she was getting it in. I hope that continues. If this team can stay healthy they will be real good.

THIS!  Morgan is doing what Hahn did - nasty floater that's harder to pass than the Nalani/Micaya/Logan hard jump serve with far fewer errors.

Also, Shook came in to block late in all 3 sets and played the whole last 1/3 of the third set.  Announcers never said anything about her in the portal.  Speaking of announcers, I miss Paul Sunderland.

Sounds like Shook will graduate in December, and since this season doesn't count eligibility-wise, she may still play the rest of the fall at Texas,

I hope this is the case.  We're going to need her to sub in for Jhenna late in a tight match as some point when she's on the front row.

  4. We were much better from the service line last night.  KU only blocked 10 balls, but they slowed down many more to keep rallies going, which is what led to our lower hitting %.  Also, Logan handled service reception better.  She knows teams are going to pick on her all year.

  5. Agree with Twice, definitely a good opener.  If Morgan came in and took the job from Sydney, that alone says our back row defense will be better, and it looked as much.  It took a set for Jhenna to get the timing with O'Neal and Butler.  Nalani dialed back her serve in the 2nd set and Logan did so in the 3rd, and that helped both of them.  Looking for another sooner spanking tonight.

How many blue hairs will revolt Bc a man is in charge of “Jody’s program?”

They'd rather be Baylor’s bitch with a Jody coaching disciple than win with a man.

This exposes what wasn't really talked about when CDC came on board.  Until then, we had a men's AD and Plonsky was the women's AD.  It was a subtle thing that I don't remember being directly addressed, but CDC was announced as the Texas Athletic Director, with no gender descriptors.  What nobody came out and said was that Plonsky was essentially demoted to "Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director". Some of those blue hairs are probably shocked that she wasn't the one calling the shots here.

There are rules here. Please try to at least post pics of her in her prime. Let's get this thread back on track.

I'll get right on that.  I'm sure I have some around here somewhere...

You'd get home and have all of that green turf dust on the backs of your shoes.

Pretty much the whole LHB had to wipe down their shoes after every early '90s rehearsal.

10 Years later, I had some fun with the future wife at the top of Section 2 one Valentine's night after seeing Larry Gatlin at Bass Concert Hall.

I mean we did lose in 5 at Tree without Butler. I’d like to have seen it at a neutral site with her.

I agree it would have been nice to see it on the court.  It just seems like Stanford was playing their best ball at the end of the tournament and we hadn't really been the same since losing to Baylor.  After struggling to beat Utah (who looked like a better version of UCSB), they swept 3 of the top 4 in the B1G by an average of 25-19.

  10. I feel like the best answer any team had for Plummer/Fitzmorris was us with White/Eggleston.  Their passing and defense were just so superior to ours that I still think we would have lost to them in the semi-final.
