  1. 2 other things @Wulaw Horn

Who did you buy a ball from that only had 1 15lb ball?  And good shop should have more 15s in stock than any other weight.

Also, fall leagues are forming now.  You could probably find a short season league the runs through December at your local center.

  2. That's a good enough ball. As long as it's a fingertip drill, you should be able to curve it.

As for scores, the pros don't bowl on the same conditions as leagues do.  The oil is applied to the lane more evenly, making it much harder to throw strikes.  Me shooting 225 in league and a pro winning a tournament with a 225 is the same difference as a local scratch golfer shooting 65 at a muni vs a pro shooting 65 at Augusta.  The difference is you can see the obstacles in golf, but you can't in bowling.

The other thing that really gets me is when the lanes don't run the AC enough and there is no slide whatsoever on the approach.  That will really throw your timing and balance off in a hurry.

I fuckin hate tacky approaches!  Good way to screw up knees and wrists (when you fall on your face).

  4. Take a football and try to throw a spiral underhanded.  Keep your right elbow in just like when swinging a golf club.  Make sure your ball is drilled with a fingertip grip.  If you're in Austin, go see the guys at Highland or Westgate.  I booked 225 last season.  Been bowling for 45 years.  Seriously considering the senior tour next year.

Edit: What ball did you get?

  5. Due to construction on Bass Concert Hall, the Champions Club has moved this year to the Thompson Conference Center.  I got a handful of passes if anyone wants some.  Here's the info.  Passes are mobile this year.

The new Champions Club location at TCC will continue to provide you with the same pregame hospitality amenities you’ve always enjoyed.

Our donors’ gameday experience is a top priority at the Longhorn Foundation and we are thrilled to provide you a Champions Club gameday experience at TCC. Located on the north side of the LBJ Library, TCC includes a climate-controlled, indoor hospitality space with full-service bars and food buffets for purchase. Family-friendly activities, flat screen TVs and a pregame pep rally led by Texas Cheer & Pom will remain essential components of your gameday hospitality experience.

Eh, there's a huge selection bias there in that A) election day this year will favor republicans who think its overblown or at least think Trump is doing okay and B) anyone else who felt the coronavirus was a danger tried to vote at another time to avoid the exposure of big election day crowds.  I wouldn't read anything into this number.

What I read into that number is that it should be 60%, but it's not and that's bad news for DJT.

Agreed and I believe that result is a bit disappointing for Texas Democrats as Trump would basically be winning by the same margin as Cruz. It also would indicate that the GOP voters/Trump support turned out huge.

Cruz won by 2.6.  Even if you think there 1M more votes out there for Trump than there were in 2016, this turnout still favors Biden.

  8. After getting aced for 5 of Tech's first 12 points, that turned into a more dominating performance.  So much so that JE moved Iosia to libero for the 3rd set to see how she responded to more playing time.  Shook played the last third of the last 2 sets.  It took her a bit to get comfortable setting the middles, but she got a few good ones in.

I took the family to this match and we sat behind the Tech baseline.  It felt very odd, empty, quiet, and cavernous for the first 15 minutes, then you kinda forget about it.  Sitting behind the baseline allows you to see lots of thing like angles, nasty floater serves, and just how high Logan and Brionne can hit over blocks when we're in system.

  9. Nothing really spectacular last night, just a solid win over a mediocre team.  We slacked off for a few minutes in the middle of the 2nd set, but that's about the worst thing.  Tyler mentioned that Logan leads the league in aces, but neglected to add that she also leads the league in service errors.  If ticket prices come down today, I think I'll take the fam to the game tonight.
