Connor Williams absolutely would have benefited from returning because of his injury situation, and because the Gilbert offense that he really shined in was very easy on OL. That was known at the time.

Also, I don't follow the Cowboys but my understanding is that they played him at G. That's a pretty good way to minimize his strengths and highlight his weaknesses. He's not an NFL guard.

Lastly, it's a long season, but early returns are that Cosmi is looking better at LT than Connor Williams. Williams never had a game like Cosmi just had against LSU. I agree that Cosmi stands to benefit from returning absent guaranteed first round status but I don't think the situations are comparable.

Connor’s  position in the NFL is guard because he doesn’t have long enough arms to play tackle. Cosmi is taller and has longer arms.

Orlando is good at generally stopping the run with a light box - although you can pound us off tackle if you commit to the run especially on passing downs (see Okie State and WVU last year) - but his design and in-game calls are not good at all against the pass.  That’s not just knee jerk because of tonight, either.  Our pass defense stats haven’t been pretty.

Our blitz packages are often pretty terrible and just get us burned.  I wish he would just put Ossai at WDE in a four man front, but instead we try to manufacture pressure with DBs starting their blitz from 10 yards outside the box and leaving giant holes in coverage.

His emphasis is on trying to trick the QB and win the chess match.  It’s a dangerous game.  Even today against the high powered spread offenses, the best defenses are the ones that just win the LOS in a base look and don’t take so many risks.  I’d rather have 4 big guys doing something predictable and collapsing the pocket than a Chinese fire drill with DBs scrambling all over the place.

Thank you, Texas needs to be running a 4 man front and letting Ossai play with his hand in the dirt coming off the edge.

He's that dumb and immature? How many kids does he have already? Does he buy weed by the brick? Is he almost 6'5 now?

He’s a big explosive athlete just like Randy Moss and with his wing span/ jumping ability he might as well be 6’5. And chill out on the “dumb” remark.

It's why I had some confidence in Alford. Nobody was predicting Princely to Texas. To predict those two as Texas leans tells you he has a source on staff. Nobody else would go out on a limb like that without a good source based on the momentum to aggy.

It's obvious somebody already told him that Alford and Princely were committing to Texas.

Alford is the other safety correct?

  5. The health of the team has to be the main focus as the start of the season comes around. Lashann’s recovery from her injury is very important as well as Isabel Palmer’s recovery from her foot surgery. With Martinez not enrolling that leaves them thin in the post if there are no new injuries and players recover from old injuries I think they’ll have a good year.

I can’t tell if sandlot is standing up for the program or believes that Karen is the right choice to head our program and can lead us to championships.

I think that the team will have a better year if healthy but unless Coach Aston has improved/ implemented better offense they’re only going to get but so far. I also believe that unless she completely misses the tournament(which probably won’t happen) CDC isn’t going to fire a winning coach of a program that doesn’t have the history of a UConn or Tennessee that he could easily justify the firing like with Holly Warlick.

Great post... Thanks for the details!!

Here's a partial recap of some disappointments from the Ladyhorns 2018-2019 Season:

    • Finishing 3rd in the B12 last season with a 12-6 record -- BULLSHIT.
    •  Losing home games to West Virginia, K-State and Iowa State -- BULLSHIT.
    • Losing 1st Rd Game in NCAA's -- BULLSHIT
    • Not finding a way to compete with Mulkey and her Waco crew is BULLSHIT.
    • Reminder 2/25/2019 -- Baylor 64  Ladyhorns 35... HUMILIATING BULLSHIT

Karen can recruit but she is not a good P5 WBB Head Coach...  She is just another good example of the "Peter Principle"

You mean she finished 3rd in the conference in a year where she basically lost her top 3 leading scorers? Every program in the conference should be disbanded since Baylor kicks everyone’s ass EVERY year. The fact of the matter is CDC isn’t getting rid of a winning coach of a wbb program that’s NOT exactly  UConn or Tennessee.

It's certainly common for a player to leave a program, but it's not normal for the sheer number of players that are transferring out, decommitting, or quitting this offseason from Texas WBB. See js's post for reference. That's a sign of a struggling program, and Aston is spearheading it.

How many of those players were starters or played significant minutes? And what players are “quitting” the team? Like I said, what you discussed  is going on/ happening at the majority of wbb programs  including the current elite teams.

  9. No disrespect to Shae Routt but I don’t understand the angst or obsession with her that some Texas wbb fan have. I know she’s a legacy but anytime there’s not a specific press release on a player I always assume that it’s a personal matter. But I just don’t understand some going crazy over the “silence”.

  10. I guess 95% of WBB programs have player problems then if you want to point out NON starters transferring and what does the “silence” of Shae Routt have to do with anything she’s still on the team? Or a recruit that committed to a school when she was in the 7th grade ultimately changing her mind in Kelly. I learned long ago not to speculate on things that I know absolutely nothing about.
