I would think John Thune would step up before Cornyn.  Though both are equally connected in terms of fundraising and cracking skulls.  Thune is just younger and more energetic and charismatic than Cornyn within their base.  Both can raise a fuck-ton of money, which is the legacy McConnell wants to leave behind since say what you will about Mitch, that was his best asset.

In totally unrelated news, Mitch has announced that while he is stepping down from leadership, he wants to continue to serve, and plans to spend more time near the Blanco River of Texas.

    That’s if Trump allows it.

EDIT; That also assumes whoever gets it isn’t tasked with giving all the money to Trump

Do you have a sense it may mean Mitch doesn’t think they’ll get a majority in 2025? He may be less bullish on Moreno and Sheehy winning in OH/MT (and PA/AZ/WI) and Trump winning for his VP to be a tiebreaker

Yup, and without him in charge GOP senate fundraising is going to be fucked.

I'm a page behind but Haley primary voters will come home to Trump in November. They hate Democrats much more than they dislike Trump.

More than half of Haley’s voters won't vote for Trump in November. The only people left on the Trump Train are diehards and self-serving assholes

Arizona is staying blue. Which is sure to piss off your typical lifelong Arizonan. Which makes me smile.

I am ecstatic that my home state has turned blue, I never thought I would see the day.

It's incredibly frustrating.  All the media typically covers is "Biden old" or "Dems hate Biden."  They're so afraid (or unwilling?) to cover Trump's cognitive decline.  Or, if the GOP was a Middle East terrorist group, they'd never stop covering their rallies and actions/plans - rounding up immigrants, deporting Muslims, going after IVF, national abortion bans, etc. But because it's Trump/the GOP, they just don't talk about it at all.

Project '25 should be in the news every fucking day.  And the media should be the ones screaming about it, because they're in just as much as danger as the Muslims, Mexicans and LGBT folks.

If that genz poll was gauging rural Texas genzers, I'd buy it.  The rurals aren't changing.  If anything, their kids are more maga.

I've had this thought, even when Trump is gone Republican politics will be poisoned for multiple generations by all this. MAGA will continue to be the dominant force in the Republican Party
