He could have fucked any number of random blondes in Ann Arbor and not been fired with cause. He fucked someone on staff which is why he’s in far deeper shit. Then using university money to raise her salary. He could have cut a check to her for $50k like us regulars might loan a friend $20 but he used university funds. That and his butter knife breakdown is why he might not coach again. He could get away with straight up infidelity, it happens all the time, it’s the other shit that brought him down. And even still I bet he’s working again in college football in a few years.
Not to nitpick, but 50k is almost 1% of his annual salary. Between being a lawyer and stating that loaning $20 is analogous to $50,000 then you sir are truly a surlyite and very much at home despite your alma mater.

Did anyone really believe the committee would apply the rules the way they were written re: Texas? I'm not sure how people didn't see this coming with the move to the SEC.
It’s hard to say, the committee obviously just wings it and makes shit up as they go. Even if we were getting more credit for our schedule and had been in the mix for the 10 spot, after the way everything shook out I think they would have left us out because we would likely have 3 rematches to reach the finals.
I am surprised they went with the OU/Bama rematch instead of shuffling to get Bama/Aggie, OU/Miami.-

Teams opting out of bowls really should lose eligibility for any bowl or playoffs the following season. I actually like ND, but they absolutely want to have their own set of rules and that just doesn't work anymore.
I couldn’t agree more, quit and not play in your bowl game this year? Bowl ban next year as as penalty. Fuck Dome

At which bowl game are all the Pavia getting arrested and banned for life from?

Update: a 9 win team has never made the playoffs in the 2 year history of the 12 team playoffs. 10 wins is still the minimum for consideration
Got it

I am afraid the only soul searching Sark would do will involve getting out of marquee non-conference games. He thinks playing in the Swamp or the Shoe is hard. Cignetti on the other hand doesn't flinch no matter who the opponent is.
What Cignetti has done is remarkable taking a team that was 9-27 in the 3 prior years to 24-2 in his first two. Doormat program who was in the division with OSU, UM and Pedo. BUT…
2024– Played OSU (L) and UM (W) then 7 of the bottom 8 teams (31-55) and really bad OOC. Great job against really bad competition, went 1-1 in their 2 game schedule before getting knocked out in first round of playoffs. This is A&M this year.
2025- Played Oregon, Iowa, Illinois, and 6 of the bottom 7 teams (23-49), same gauntlet OOC. A 3 game schedule and atrocious competition, but they took care of business and just beat OSU. Conference Champs, heisman, they look like the team to beat. Sideline demeanor reminds me of Saban
Schedules matter, last year they were a paper tiger nearly identical to A&M this year. Undoubtedly a good team, but a record built on playing the worst competition they could possibly have on their schedule outside of 2 games. I’m rooting for them this year, we get to see how well they do against better competition.
Tl;dr Cignetti is a damn good coach but let’s see how he does against good teams over a larger sample size

Surely the committee will step in and won’t let 2 G5 teams in right
As shitty as the committee is I wouldn’t be shocked to see north Texas drop out of the rankings and 8-5 Duke slide in at 24

You want VA to win 3-2 in a game that sets college football back 75 years so that the ACC isn’t left out but the commmittee says we really want to out 2.5 ACC teams in this fucker. Domers are .5 acc team with that schedule.
More like .75 ACC since they went 5-1 in conference play in an 8 game conference.

They played 13 games.
Also different.
Though to be fair they, along with all the contenders except Dome played FCS and that shit should not count on your record unless you lose. Varsity has no business playing the freshman squad and counting it toward your record, might as well count the spring game like Aggie.

I feel like a Virginia win is better for us. A Duke win could completely ice out a power conference auto-bid, leading to the committee to pick Miami as an at-large. At least Virginia gives the ACC a place at the table.
We are out so nothing matters for us. At least a Duke win might accelerate change to the system when they have to let 2 charity spots in instead of 1 and it affects ratings

After further thought, I think it shakes out
9 Dome
10 Bama
11 BYU
12 Miami
13 UT
they keep CCGs, the get their Dome in, UM and their 14 fans are pissed but whatever, and apparently we are the only ones who really think we should be in so OOC won’t change that much (SEC will start dropping them because of 9 game schedule and P4 requirement)

Nah they’ll put bama 11, byu 12 and keep Texas 13.
This is my thinking, but I’m not sure Dr. Pepper is going down without a fight.. there might be some of those giant checks in the name of committee members to make sure CCGs don’t die yet
-
I guess we will find out the fate of CCGs. If Bama is left out, CCGs are done. They can leave BYU at 11 and leave them out without controversy.
if they drop Bama, they almost certainly are moving Miami in to avoid that controversy. Guessing it also depends on ACC game, if Duke wins they probably move Miami up so the ACC gets a rep (2 including dome really)
-
When they pull that stupid shit take your time and substitute all 11 players since they did too and don’t even give them a chance to jump offaide

Bama gets blown out and we're in. Fingers crossed
Not gonna happen unfortunately, but I can dream...
Nope. If Duke wins then 2 G5 make it at 11/12 and I would bet the house they take the opportunity to flip Miami to 9 and Dome to 10
*Thats only if Bama gets blown out and dropped out which is a big IF

And you have 3 lossess to our soon to be 2. But keep enjoying your ow farts.
We do have 3 losses. I’ll give you UF but I think they beat you at the swamp just based off jimmys and joes.
are you thinking you would stand a chance against OSU or UGA? OU would probably cripple fight you to death. Pavia would probably pass/run for 600 yards on you. Aggie would probably beat you.
SEC won 13 of the 20 MNCs prior to us joining, and while we hated them then and now, there really isn’t a doubt it’s the deepest conference top down after taking UT and OU. NFL draft picks tell the tale, SEC 79, B1G 71, ACC 42, B12 31, AAC 6. You’re closer to AAC than SEC or B1G.

By this aggy logic a hallowed SEC ‘ship’ for 2025 should in works for the stadium wall based on records. T-shirts and cups to follow.
Aggie paradox exists, if they try and claim an SEC title for 2025 for finishing in a 4 way tie, don’t they have to acknowledge UT won in 2024 as the only one loss conference team in 2024, first year in conference?

Given this is really just entertainment...
Expand the playoffs to 14 teams.
12 selected as they are today. 2 more based on ratings and must have a winning record. Teams ranked 11-12 play the at-large "ratings teams" the same week as CCG - as play-ins.If the 2 at-large teams get crushed, who cares, we get another week of entertainment. If one or both win, we all win, dispatching a pretender before the get fed to the #5 team a week later.
This year, Texas and LSU would be the at-large "ratings" teams (based on the above graphic).
The big flaw here is 1-4 and 11-14 this year would have to play and beat each other up while 5-10 get to rest.

Apologies for quoting myself but here’s Tech’s season total:
50 Ark PB
50 Kent St
50 Oregon St
100 Utah (15)
100 Houston (21)
50 Kansas
-100 Az St
50 Ok St
50 K St
100 BYU (11) (should be 10)
50 UCF
50 WV
______600
So you would get +50 for beating an FCS while we get +10 for beating the #3 team?
I think your shit is severely flawed

It’s pretty close, though our schedule last year was a little harder than theirs this year. 16, 15, 13, 12, 11, 10, 6, and 1
this year they played 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8, and 5
It’s ridiculous they have only played UGA once, but I think it’s because no one outside the cult gives a single shit about them, just look at the TV numbers. They have to balance the marquee programs with high viewership games, yet trying to be careful not to overload the schedule and harm the top resumes.
Aggie is lower mid of the conference so by the time they get to making their schedule they just cobble something together.
